Homeboy Sandman has been doing his this grinding and making quality hip hop. Congratulations to him for signing with one of the dopest labels around, Stones Throw. Hope to see him rocking with Madlib. He released this statement:

The people over at Brooklyn Bodega followed Homeboy Sandman around for this ‘A Day In The Life’ piece as sorta of a mini-doc & promo for the Brooklyn Hip Hop festival next weekend. Homeboy Sandman is on the bill & I’m not surprised as he’s one of the best performers I’ve seen on the come up. Homeboy Sandman is on the bill along with Kendrick Lamar, Random Axe, M.O.P., & too many others to name. Takes place July 16th at the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza & Tobacco Warehouse in you happen to be in NYC next weekend.

Homeboy Sandman – ‘I Knew’

Homeboy Sandman dropped some new heat over the web a few days ago & I’ve been feeling this joint since I’ve heard it. It made me go into a brief Homeboy Sandman set on my ipod for a while. During the A3C festival last year I was telling him he needs to get up on twitter, but Sand explained he wasn’t a fan of social media like twitter per se. True to his word he set up a twitter page to release this joint & then deleted the twitter page right afterwards. Apparently this is Homeboy Sandman’s attempt to reach out to Questlove of The Roots in a bid to appear on the Jimmy Fallon show as a musical guest. Hopefully Questlove makes that happen because Homeboy Sandman is one of the most talented & creative new cats coming up in my opinion.

Homeboy Sandman is a truly gifted hip hop artist from his live performances, his recorded projects, to his video concepts, and on down to his artistic integrity. He’s such a true performer that I’m not surprised to hear he’s also branching out into acting with a few upcoming roles in some serious projects. I don’t think there’s been a rap artist in hip hop that’s as artistically capable since Mos Def. Check out the latest video ‘Strange Planet’ from his 2010 album ‘The Good Sun’.

I let SoundCloud keep playing suggested jams while composing my Sandman post, and this Jonwayne jawn hit my eardrum hard. His cut is titled “No” but after listening, you’ll give it a thumbs up I’ll wager. Don’t know much about Stones Throw’s West Coast producer/emcee Jonwayne cat but it sounds pretty dope. Regardless of where on this planet you live, and no matter what your nationality, the fact that the indefinite detention provisions of the NDAA are still on the books, should disturb you on a fundamental level. If not, give it three minutes.
