He lassoed the fellow Philadelphans DJ Jazzy Jeff and James Poyser (of The Roots) for the production AND R&B singer Ebony Joi to do the honors on this beautiful track. I got wind of this from Dayne Jordan himself. He let me know he released a new song…“LOST.” I checked for it on his site. Boom. Doooope!
Shot the video (above) in Azerbaijan? Yeah, Dayne does world travel. Keeping it Philly doesn’t mean not getting your passport stamped.

Serving as Jeff’s ombudsman, Dayne shares the rebuttal every DJ wants to say when suckaz run up to the booth on some “Play Dat” ish… NO REQUESTS… Paid professional DJ at work! Similarly, Dayne’s serving notice: He will make dope music…period. And that’s that! No hit-chasing; no requests for anything else needed.

DJ Ferno gets called onto the carpet (er… couch) for a DJ Jazzy Jeff post-show reprimand. Evaluations are evaluations, wherever you work, right? Nah. You probably don’t get a camera shoved in your face the whole time your boss is giving you the talkin’ to… and you don’t likely get a real opportunity to land a ‘counter’ like Ferno did. Haa! Even getting ‘dressed down’ on these Vinyl Destination eps is classic.
It’s all about IMPACT people. Remember that ya young’ns!
Keep watching though: The crew did a double in Manchester, then get over to Preston, UK. Jeff giving love to fans and they mans’n’em, meeting and greeting and signing stuff along the way. Skillz with his commentary added in. Prepare to chuckle.
(Notice how Jeff wouldn’t make the hand gesture he did not understand for the one fan’s pic. Okay, okay. Been a minute since we came with the Vinyl Destination posts. Apologies all around to all appropriate parties. AND sooo… if you are a stickler for watching in order, we do a solid. Start by watching AFTER THE JUMP (start it from the bottom then come here).
So we come to day 3 of European jaunt for this Vinyl Destination episode. DJ Jazzy Jeff and the best in the biz, riding out in the world’s smallest minivan, to Annecy, France. Not always ‘deluxe accommodations’ but chilling. Cookies and chips. Then…to get it IN… Pop Plage!! Then off Belfast, Ireland. Then to London…whew, they’re working people! London with DJ Jazzy Jeff putting the perfect spin on a performance by… longtime partner Will Smith! We posted the surprise treat they gave the crowd there here.
There is much more – LA to London to Vegas in record time. And they their way to Tennessee. Some true southern fried chicken plates?

In this episode of Vinyl Destination, DJ Jazzy Jeff and his crew ‘have a Cali week’ in Los Angeles. Jeff links up with drummer Travis Barker to talk about the possibility of doing a show. They chat about gear and do a DJ/Drummer jam session. Got into a lot for what was to be a laid back time. Eventually got over to the grocery store to shop to make a ‘Magnificent Meal’ – and leave a full fridge (like Jeff says a good house guest should) – while staying at the home of comedian buddy Russell Peters (see him in this prior episode here)) while in town. A show in San Diego, then flying out to UK for a day, then back stateside for another show in Vegas the day after… whew! A chill week, then back on the grind like a mutha—-!

YES! Vinyl Destination with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Skillz and the crew is back mannn! First stop: Charlotte (North Carolina). Some came for the CIAA Basketball Tournament. Everybody came to party! The whole episode is tremendous viewing, but we lose it starting at 3:50.
They have younger events at CIAA… but if a younger person gets a chance to kinda come to one of those classic… you know, 90s parties… they probably gone see their mom… you know, rocking HARD… in a tight fit dress… that she wore when she met your dad… that she really can’t fit anymore… but she still wears it. Might be a little traumatic.

Man. Even with your bros, even rolling in a luxury tour bus… the road can get old. And too long a trip across the Canadian outback, it can get COLD! Same crappy food… crazy sound setups… gotta ask why a deejay does what he does sometimes. Then, take another look… at the beauty everywhere. The people partying everywhere. It is what Jazzy Jeff, Skillz and the crew were meant to do. Wrapping Canada in Vancouver, with quick stop in Seattle to get the mixer fixed… then a New Year’s Eve extravaganza featuring a drum and DJ set (none other than fellow Philly native Questlove on the drums). THAT’s a season finale! Watch.
