- ArtByOdell:Â Congratulations on your new project Good Karma, how long were you working on the album?
- Elaquent:Â Much appreciated my man! Glad it’s out now. The bulk of the record I did in a 2 week, insomnia-filled period a few months back.

- ArtByOdell: I love the title and it fits the project because it definitely gives off a good feeling. Did you decide the title and make music around it or did the music you created made you title it?
- Elaquent:Â The title came first. Most of my albums, I typically decide on the title and the concept before I start making anything. Was definitely going for more of a feel good vibe on this one.
- ArtByOdell: Music collectives are making waves these days people like Vibe Music Collective, Soulection and of course HW&W (that you are a part of) what is your take on the Beat scene collaborative DJ/Producer scene?
- Elaquent:Â It’s very interesting. The scene has definitely undergone quite the metamorphosis. I think it’s a beautiful thing that producers; typically people who have traditionally stayed primarily in the background/in the studio, has a platform to perform in front of crowds. When I first started off, beat battles and occasionally beat cyphers were the only avenues for producers to showcase in front of a crowd, at least on the hip hop side of things out here. Luckily, the LA beat scene really took the world by storm, and more people are willing to pay to see producers. Definitely a great thing to see.
- ArtByOdell:Â I have had the pleasure of seeing you play here in Atlanta, GA also fellow Toronto native Rich Kidd (MC) perform here in Atlanta. We are known for partying here in ATL talk to me about the Toronto night life?
- Elaquent:Â Shouts out to Rich! Truth be told, I’m not into the night life, at least not anymore, but I think that has more to do with me growing up lol. Toronto is a pretty eclectic place, plenty of interesting personalities, however, we ain’t got a Delia’s here lol. Don’t think Toronto has the same type of turntup atmosphere that I seen the few times I’ve been to Atlanta, but there’s no shortage of things to see and do out in Toronto.
- Â Â Â ArtByOdell: When are you coming back to the states?
- Elaquent: Don’t want to get too ahead of myself, but if everything goes according to plan, should be back in September for a grip of dates.
- ArtByOdell:Â Lastly, what do you & HW&W have coming up and how can people reach you?
- Elaquent:Â The HW&W camp has lots of things in the works, not sure what I can speak on…for one, a bunch of the camp are heading to Europe to tour there this fall which will be wild. As for myself, just trying to keep busy. This record is out, and beyond playing more jams, I’m already working on 2 or 3 other projects. Looking to do some throwback stuff where I go back to the crates. Should be lots of fun.
ÂI’m pretty easy to find, Elaquent on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Soundcloud…. Or Elaquent.com for all info in one place.
- ArtByOdell: Thanks for your time look forward to kicking it with you again in Atlanta and when I come up to Toronto. Want you to play the beats and have Rich Kidd bring the Jameson.
- Elaquent:Â Always good to chat, much love my man! Thanks for having me.
