Politics: Hasan Minhaj On Malaysia, 1MDB, And Goldman Sachs (Video)
That’s right Chicago. Your parking meters are Muslim.
WTF??? Oh, it’s Hasan doing another Patriot Act ep. Haha!
So, it’s time to laugh, laugh some more and learn something from stand-up ‘Professor’ Minhaj!
On this segment from the latest episode of Patriot Act, Hasan examines the 1MDB sovereign wealth fund scandal in Malaysia, in which former prime minister Najib Razak has been accused of funneling millions of dollars from the country into his personal bank accounts. Traditionally used as a means of economic diversification by countries reliant on a single industry, sovereign wealth funds have come under scrutiny as financial organizations like Goldman Sachs and corrupt politicians have taken advantage of these large, mostly unregulated pools of money for their own gain. While Goldman Sachs continues to profit off of sovereign wealth funds in other countries, the bank is currently being investigated for its role in the 1MDB scandal, which could have lasting implications on the world of finance.
– Patriot Act
Where politics, pools of money, and worldwide finance intersect… There will be global scandal and damage. How can we laugh about stuff like that? Dunno, but Hasan always has a way doing it every time, doesn’t he?

Politics: Hasan Minhaj On Cricket Diplomacy And Cricket Corruption (Video)
Watching a ‘live-action Brooks Brothers catalog’ with your dad on the couch for five days straight. Haha! Okay, I feel for you and your torture memories, Hasan. But why is cricket an actual big thing the world over? We need to know. Show us, man, and welcome back!
On the latest episode of Patriot Act, Hasan takes a look at the history and politics behind one of the biggest sports in the world: cricket. With billions of fans scheduled to tune into the upcoming 2019 Cricket World Cup, Hasan examines how the game has evolved from a sport of British colonizers into a tool of diplomacy and a force for good despite recent scandals and corruption. Hasan also explores how cricket has especially grown in India due in part to the creation of the IPL, a flashy professional cricket league founded by the infamous Lalit Modi, and how that expansion has unfortunately come at the expense of the growth of cricket in other countries.
Beating the colonizers at their own game. I get that. Like James Naismith and today’s minority dominance of basketball.

Business: How Bear Grylls Really Makes All His Money (Video)
Shame on me for falling for the okeydoke. Here I am thinking the dude just rakes in cash from insanely hopping out of helicopters, taking off his shirt whenever possible, and eating all kinds of unnecessary bugs with a British accent. But nah, son. Grylls is about that grind. Drinking from streams is only one stream of income for Bear. He is trying to drown himself in potential liquidity… and he is NOT wasting any water #PickUpPennies #PinchPennies #PocketPennies #PoundsAndPounds #GryllsGotGuap
Man vs. Wild star Bear Grylls has actually got quite a few side projects that help keep that cash flowing even when he’s not in front of the camera. Here are some of the highlights from his financial journey over the years that have helped him mint his fortune in spades.

Politics: Hasan Minhaj On Hip-Hop And Streaming (Video)
Great show on the impact of Hip-Hop… on Hasan himself and the world!
On the latest episode of Patriot Act, Hasan dissects how the rise of music streaming on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, and SoundCloud has influenced the sound, reach, and impact of modern day Hip-Hop. While streaming technology has led to the commercial viability of SoundCloud rappers, it is simultaneously enabling rap as a viable form of protest against oppressive regimes around the world.

Comedy: “Kevin Hart: Irresponsible” Coming To Netflix This April (Trailer)
Okay. So it looks like Kevin is gonna talk about his marriage scandal… pretty bold. But then again, when he got a grip on things he talked about his first marriage’s end candidly; on and off stage. Being able to speak on what most would think should be ‘too personal’ kinda makes a comedian ‘bulletproof’ right? But I remember his cheating and getting caught on tape was off limits (re: his friend Michael Blackson’s comments on the scandal hitting Kevin too close to home when word first got out).
Back on stage. Back to business. On April 2, Kevin Hart brings his sold-out comedy tour, Irresponsible, to a global audience for his first original Netflix standup special. The one-hour special was filmed in front of a sold-out audience of over 15,000 people at the O2 Arena in London, England. Hart touches upon his friends, family, travel… and a year filled with Irresponsible behavior.

Politics: Hasan Minhaj On Indian Elections (Video)
Baaaahahaaa! That montage at the beginning is everything! But sorry family, Hasan Minhaj is DOING his show on politics in India. No matter the risk.
On the latest episode of Patriot Act, Hasan analyzes the current state of politics in India and what it means to him as an Indian-American, with a focus on the country’s upcoming elections. With around 900 million voters, India has the largest and one of the most complex democracies in the world. Hasan discusses how recent conflicts with Pakistan, widespread economic issues under current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a resurgence of Hindu nationalism, and corruption scandals amongst major political parties in the country will play a role in determining the future, and the identity, of India.

Gangsters In Paradise (Documentary)
My dad was God… at least to me…and since I could not fight God, I’d fight everybody else.
Damn. That is the definition of f’d up AND a damn near perfect description of the condition that sets a gangster on his path in life. Wow. Another in-depth hard-hitting VICE doc, covering content you just won’t get anywhere else.
In Gangsters in Paradise – Deportees of Tonga, VICE embeds with four Tongan nationals who have been sent back to the tiny island nation where they were born after serving prison time in New Zealand and the United States. Former gang members, they often struggle to reconnect with the culture, the language, and the people.
– VICE
Interesting when you realize that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is half Tongan and half Black. He could have been all f’d up in the game. He still probably would feel some pain watching this. As should we all.

Sean Paul and Chi Ching Ching Tasting And Teaching Jamaican Food & Culture To Horsepowar (Video)
‘First We Feast’ keeps coming up with good content. Of course, it is food-centered, so you know that will interest most humans. However, they really put work into the ‘human interest’ side of their series. This one on Jamaican Food, too.
Sean Paul is a dancehall icon and certified hit maker. But he’s also a ride-or-die obsessive when it comes to the food of his native Jamaica. Anxious to learn more about Jamaican curry goat, Horsepowar follows Sean and his latest Dutty Rock signee, Chi Ching Ching, to Glady’s Jerk Center in Brooklyn—a new-school home for Caribbean cuisine on Rogers Avenue. From a crash-course in patois, to a heated beef-patty taste test, Sean and Chi Ching school Horsepowar on all things Jamaican before diving into a couple heaping bowl of curry goat and oxtail. The Curry Shop heads to the Caribbean this week, and who better to breakdown the dos and don’ts than two generations of dancehall legends? Jeesam peas!
– First We Feast
They lost Horsepowar with the patois at first. She had to call a timeout on the chit-chat. Ha!
