Technology: Nissan’s FPV Drone Is Insanely Fast (Video)
We’ve done our share of posts on drones on here for certain. We’ve even written up drone racing for sport. That might bring to mind just how fast these things go; but how fast is that really?
Well, Nissan has this GT-R Drone – one of the fastest accelerating FPV (First Person View) racing drones in the world. Watch it above, keeping up with the new 2017 Nissan GT-R while filming on the track.
Zero to 100, real quick. Like in less than two seconds. Crazy!
Historical Brief: America Vs. Cuba (Documentary Short)
Bay of Pigs. Proxy warring between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Cold shoulders to Fidel Castro. An average American might know a little something about each or all of these pieces of U.S. vs. Cuba historic tension. However, the beef goes deeper and further back. Watch and learn what’s up and why Barack Obama’s Presidential visit to Cuba was so unprecedented.
The DNA Journey: Where Are You Really ‘From’ (Video)
The one comment by the lady near the end – how DNA testing could force folks to understand that there is no pure race – is so compelling. No ‘pure’ race, no ‘superior’ race… no more motivation for the conflicts based on such dumbness worldwide. A peaceful world, far more related than we would have known otherwise; like we are all ‘cousins.’ Incredible viewing!
To celebrate diversity in the world Momondo presents The DNA Journey: a journey into who we are and how we are all connected as a global family. We asked 67 people from all over the world to take a DNA test, and it turns out they have much more in common with other nationalities than they would ever have thought.
Sideways Elevators In London (Video)
Thyssenkrupp Elevator CEO Andreas Schierenbeck has declared this concept as one that could “undoubtedly change the face of London’s transport network, and reinforce the UK’s position at the head of global innovations.” No cables; magnetically driven; able to move up, down and sideways… to eliminate street glut by streamlining the ‘mid-commute’ (travelers exiting subway cars, walking out of stations via mazes of underground to top-bound pathways, onto the street, into tall buildings and packed elevators to get to their destinations…only to reverse that madness to get home). Here’s the idea.
Thyssenkrupp MULTI elevator technology, rope-less and moving sideways, increases passenger shaft capacity by 50%. Originally designed for tall buildings MULTI can also open up new possibilities for underground metro stations, set to make metro hubs true centers of human interaction.
Imagine a futuristic George Jetson meets Star Trek car-and-lift system that takes throngs of passengers from subway car to in-building destination; eliminating ‘people traffic’ in much the same way that an underground rail system reduces the amount of traffic on surface roadways. Dope! And they are testing in the UK in 2017.
Travel: Cab Drivers Earn More Than Doctors In Cuba (Mini-Documentary)
Yep. You read that title right: As far as earning potential goes, Cab Driver > Doctor (or Engineer, for that matter). Where they do that at? Cuba (read the title)! But you may also think to ask, ‘WHY and HOW does the societal value of driver work out to be higher than that of a degreed medical practitioner?’ Well, the above mini-documentary will explain. But bet that you will still find yourself saying ‘wowwww!’ Especially when you hear what an average Cuban earns in salary each month…
In Cuba, cab drivers are the one percent.
Cuba’s economy works as a central planning model, where government ministries dole out resources and set everything from prices to inventories to salaries. The fact that a taxi driver can make so much more than a physician is a reflection of the Cuban government’s heavy focus on tourism. For years, the central planning apparatus has valued tourism as a key mechanism for both bringing in revenue as well as propagating the idea that Cuba is thriving. Many pesos are collected by the high prices on everything related to the tourism industry.
Eritrea: The African North Korea (Documentary)
Okay, before you get into this must-see viewing… cut the sound. Now click play and ignore the banners and such. Eritrea (pronounced AIR-IT-TREY-UH). Beautiful climate, people, surroundings… After a minute or so, you can stop. How did such a beautiful place come to be known as ‘The African North Korea’?
Well, how do these concepts make you feel (especially in historical context)? Dictatorship. Single political party. A ministry of information. One TV station (government run). Mandatory military service.
Anybody feel like fleeing yet? How about we learn more first. Press play, with the sound on, and fully take in this daring bit of reporting by FRANCE 24.
More after the jump.
Ali: The Mission (Mini-Documentary)
Even before The Champ’s passing, you’ve probably heard about his nobility and heroism outside the ring. Given that, this 30-For-30 documentary short’s content may not shock you; but the story should warm your heart and make you miss him a little bit more.
Ambassador Ali. Fighting Parkinson’s all while winning over folks worldwide including Saddam Hussein; which was key. You’ll see why when you watch.
(Narrated by John Legend.)
Illegal Street Drifting in Saudi Arabia (Documentary)
Illegal drifting on public streets has achieved cult status in Saudi Arabia by now. At the same time, car accidents are one of the main causes of death there, especially among young people. The problem is so massive that the Saudi government is implementing extra hard punishments for drifting on public streets. But there are alternatives. Professional drivers have started academies, and in doing so are trying to make drifting a professional sport.
The Rich Kids Of Instagram (Cutting The Edge) [Documentary]
Pictures speak like a thousand words…
Hear what this moving picture is saying. Richie Rich kids putting it all into the lens. A trip to Fiji – just because you’re bored – is rich! And these kids are that bodacious, audacious, in-your-face rich. And they want to share… on Instagram… suckers! Watch and ache with hate, or ‘aw wow’ with amazement (or a little of both, most likely).
Interesting documentary.
Travel/Business: 50 Cent And Hostel World Want You To Meet The World (Video)
If 50 is speaking on it, it’s money in it. Facts. Looks blingy and nice and all… but the pitch floats a little wide and high when Fif is selling the nickel-plated railed ‘tour bus’ style beds. More ball (e.g. out of the strike zone) than ‘baller.’ But we all can’t ball out overseas. However, Hostelworld is saying we can all have somewhere to stay and ‘Meet The World’ … through its enthusiastic spokesperson 50 Cent.
It’s Official: Super Bowl 2019 Will Be In Atlanta (Video)
Next time someone asks, “What’s so special about Atlanta?” grab their smartphone (or get them here online somehow) and show them this. Then, right as the clip is ending, tell them, “Oh… and Atlanta’s got the SuperBowl coming… AGAIN!”

Candyland: Canadian Cannabis (Documentary)
Weed soda, chronic cookies and chocolates. Ah yes, sounds like some mighty tasty medicines those Canadians are getting a good dose of up there. New Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bringing in a new cool, a breath of fresh… well hazy… air to the country’s marijuana legalization conversation. See VICE’s Damian Abraham get up there and get into the mix; taking his lumps and the ‘medicine’ to get the story on Canada’s weed dispensaries and candy shops.
Toronto is currently in a gray area in terms of its marijuana dispensary boom. Since Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was elected in 2015, promising to legalize weed, entrepreneurs have been illegally opening up shop all over the city. Although there’s no guarantee that Trudeau’s plan for legal marijuana will include storefront businesses, these operations are opening almost daily. While the shops specialize in selling weed for medical marijuana patients — more and more customers are coming through the doors of their local dispensary looking for marijuana edibles, which only a select number of federally regulated manufacturers are licensed to produce.
Suicide Squad (International Trailer)
“Suicide Squad” is hitting U.S. movie goers in the head with the spiked bat come August 2016. Prediction. Scratch that. FACTS! And as you can see, this comic-gone-TV-gone-action-movie mega-cast epic is already an international event (leading up to and through its September 2016 release to the rest of the world).
Interesting factoid to chew on before you digest the new trailer: Harley Quinn is NOT originally a DC comic book character. She is a TV creation, “born” on the Batman: The Animated Series cartoon from the 1990s. Now she here! Now the whole f#cking team here, yeah!
Former Ole Miss Rebel Marshall Henderson Patting The Rock In Iraq (Video)
A lot of people aren’t cut out for this… coming to a warring country or whatever…
– Marshall Henderson
And BOOM! This is how VICE Sports kicks off its ROAM series. Marshall’s a long way from the Rebel Nation, and the NBA, but he is still making it in pro-basketball. Watch VICE Sports get to globetrotting to hang out in Iraq, latest home to former Ole Miss (on- & off-court) standout Marshall Henderson and get his story.
Marshall Henderson had one of the most infamous runs in NCAA Basketball history, dominating the SEC with his three point shot at Ole Miss (while also running into trouble with coaches/opposing fans/the law/etc.).
Then he went undrafted, and fizzled out of the NBA’s D-League. Now he’s in the massive and convoluted international basketball pipeline, playing wherever he can. His latest stop: Naft Al-Janoob of the Iraqi Division I Basketball League in Basra, scene to some of the most vicious battles of the Iraqi War and a city that continues to experience its share of violence.
Regular People Wrestle Sumo Champions (Video)
Bwaaahahaaaa! Some of these folks really went at it with the Sumos. Well, if you gone do it… For though, I like the way that the pros in this segment are not that brash, and willing to share in their sport. One even took a ‘L’ and not so much as a frown. We could learn a thing or three in The States from them.

Action Bronson With Food and Fun From The Festival In Jamaica (Video)
Well, well, if it isn’t ol’ Bam Bam at the Nyam Jam Festival in Jamaica. And what’s cooking chef? Whatever it is… We’re sure to say, “F#ck, That’s Delicious!”
As Action Bronson’s presence in the “Food World” becomes more permanent, new and diverse opportunities are popping up for the self proclaimed Human Highlight Reel. This time it popped up in the most beautiful location possible, Goldeneye Resort in Oracabessa, Jamaica. The event was entitled Nyam Jam, and even before Action knew exactly what it was, he agreed to attend. As stated in the video, there was not a single bad bite of food, and if you love hot sauces and various pepper spreads, then you really couldn’t do much better. Mr. Bronson honed in on a calabasa slaw prepared by visiting Puerto Rican chef, Jose Enrique and a smoked chicken sandwich from Jamaican grill master, Gariel Ferguson. His experience at Nyam Jam inspired him so much, that upon his arrival back in New York, he immediately got cow foot stew and ate in the parking lot of Home Depot. One love.
