Steve Carell Stars In An Imaginative Holiday Film, “Welcome To Marwen” (Trailer)

Looks like some good watching. Should hit viewers in the feels. And I trust Zemeckis as a filmmaker. He’s gonna take Carell into that Tom Hanks film space with this one, I’m betting. That is some rarefied air.

This holiday season, Academy Award® winner Robert Zemeckis—the groundbreaking filmmaker behind Forrest Gump, Flight and Cast Away—directs Steve Carell in the most original movie of the year. Welcome To Marwen tells the miraculous true story of one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit.
– Universal Pictures

Interesting. A documentary directed by [executive producer] Jeff Malmberg inspired the film. In Theaters December 21st.

Now At Mid-Season, DC Universe’s Series “Titans” Is Really Good. Check Out Its Latest Teaser (Trailer)

Okay, so slide me a late-to-the-party pass. But I am glad I checked this out at all. It did NOT pass the eyeball test for me at first. Robin’s costume is cool, but everyone else had me thinking meehhh…

But this series is actually really good! I think DC Universe is still running it’s free week-long trial. Check it out for yourself. I got the trailer embedded above, but I think you need an entire episode to really get into it.

Final “Robin Hood” Teaser Before It Hits Theaters Later This Month (Trailer)

Yep, the dude from the “Kingsman” franchise (Taron Egerton) is going low-tech with the action in retelling a classic tale. Old school. Medieval. With Jamie Foxx teaching him how to rob from the rich, give to the poor, with style, rocking a sweet throwback hoodie joint. Haha!

FOX’s New Show, “The Passage” (Trailer)

Of course, this triggers me. I’m from Tuskegee, Alabama, where the government carried out the syphilis study (medical research). Sure, this is science fiction, right? No way this could happen in real life. Right. Folks this kind of stuff has happened over and over. My vision ain’t blurry. And that’s not even my third eye seeing… that’s just history… readily available for anyone to read. Just Google “Tuskegee Experiment.”

Bitterness aside, I am still watching this. Fox’s “Gifted” is a good series, and this has a similar feel.

Andre 3000 Coming Back To The Big Screen In A Sci-Fi Thriller Called “High Life” (Trailer)

Well. This looks… ominous.

Okay, so don’t try to figure out everything that is going on in this trailer. There is enough meat in what is plain to see: Andre 3000 is back on the big screen (November 7 in France, in 2019 in the U.S.) with a box office hitter like Robert Pattinson (dude from the “Twilight” movies), in a sci-fi thriller that includes a space trip to a black hole.

Yeah, we good. See you next year 3 Stacks.

This Animé “MFKZ” Has Some Of Everybody Doing Everything R-Rated In It (Trailer)

Rated R? That all?? Looks like it could be ‘stronger’ with the warning. Bloody violence, check! Foul language, check! And sexual content, aaaand check! Yep… checks all the boxes for some dope, slick, sick anime that fans like; just like they like it!!

The film [“MFKZ”] centers on young Angelino and his skull-and-flame pal Vinz, who live in a seedy tenement in an LA-inspired dystopian metropolis – a burnt-out, gang and cockroach-ridden neo-urban hell. Following a scooter accident, Angelino starts experiencing migraines and strange hallucinations, as well as fits of rage-inspired superpowers, as he slowly awakens to the truth of his origins: he is half human and half Macho, a supernatural alien race that is bent on taking over the planet.

Check for this [very] limited engagement anime film in theaters October 11th and 16th.

“X-Men: Dark Phoenix” Hits Theaters Valentine’s Day 2019 (Trailer)

Surely comic book version purists were miffed at when the X-Men movie franchise messed with several storylines in the first trilogy (esp. in ‘The Last Stand’… Cain Marko aka Juggernaut is NOT a mutant). But this “Dark Phoenix” might, just might, try to steer in the direction of comic canon.

See, in ‘The Last Stand’ Jean Grey did all she could (with Professor X’s …um …help) to control the Dark Phoenix within. But we had no idea where the Phoenix came from. It was like Jean had a super-powered schizophrenic evil alter ego; one that was just there, that Xavier wouldn’t dare let Jean let out. Which likely left longtime ‘X-men’ readers yelling at the screen: HELLO! Phoenix is a COSMIC entity! Where’s the outer space part of the story!???!

Well, fingers crossed, the trailer above could be letting us know that they are going there. FINALLY! Saw a little bit of a space trip in there, but look and see if you see it, too.

(Plus, the teaser text after the jump. Really promising the good goods!)

So far, the ‘prequel’ and ‘alternate’ storyline movies (‘First Class,’ ‘Days Of Future Past,’ and ‘Apocalypse’) of the franchise have scaled up well as far as ‘popcorn effect’ goes… complex story arcs, conflicted characters, BIG explosions and massive destruction scenes from torn down cityscapes to ripped up ocean floors. And a plethora of X-Men are in play (most everyone but Wolverine, unless you count quick cameos). So whatever they choose to do with them and this story we can trust it’ll be epic, well worth the price of admission.

Of course, we will know that for sure by February of next year!

From The Writer/Director Of “Moonlight,” “If Beale Street Could Talk” Comes To Theaters This Fall (Trailer)

Oh maaann, this looks like a heartwrenching, emotional rollercoaster type drama… one well worth watching when it hits theaters. Starting to feel like Black movies (films with Black people in front of and behind the camera) are hitting a good flow. No need to ask us to ‘support’ or ‘give it a chance’ when they come out nowadays because they are just great stories. Hands down.

Trust love all the way.
IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK. In theaters Fall 2018.
– Annapurna Pictures

And this trailer is teasing the story told in James Baldwin’s novel, “If Beale Street Could Talk.” A story of Black love, struggle, and trying to get and keep a young family together in racially charged Harlem in the 1970s. Helmed by Barry Jenkins, doing his first film since “Moonlight.”

Science Fiction: A Planetary ‘Scavenger’ Comes Across NASA’s Voyager I Satellite Launched In 1977 (Short Film)

Interesting. Thinking that Gene Rodenberry’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” did something similar waaaay back in the day. This looks to be a very update take, certainly it’s own flick though.

And if you recognize the filmmaker Raphael Rogers as the one who did the “Beyond” short film we posted on here a good while back, kudos and a salute to you!
