Guardians Of The Connected World (Trailer)

Wow. ‘The Matrix’ has us… already. We are totally dependent on the technology that connects us. Watch this trailer and be [re]convinced. If we, as a society were to lose connectivity – to our information, assets, ultimately each other – it’s a wrap. That said, a significant tech failure hitting the cyberworld… that’d be a wrap for us! Very provacative documentary trailer above.

Legendary director Werner Herzog investigates the connected world and the people who protect it in his upcoming documentary. From cyber-crime and service outages to technological advances in science, healthcare and retail, take a deeper look at how much our lives depend on staying connected and see just how big and yet fragile the Connected World has become.

As you’ll see, the Internet was never meant to be what it has become – the frail backbone infrastructure of our world. But we are beyond that now. It is what we got; and we are irrevocably tied in and dependent on it as a society. That said, how will we protect and ensure connectivity? We need Guardians (no ‘of the Galaxy’ joke… for real… watch).

I Am Chris Farley (Trailer)

The late great comedic actor Chris Farley was one of the funniest dudes to come through the Saturday Night Live franchise. Creator/producer of the show, Lorne Michaels, says (in this trailer – look) that Farley was ‘infuriatingly talented’… wow! Many times we find out the story of the ‘funniest person in the world’ is that of a very sad clown. Bet on this bio being an emotional roller coaster. “I Am Chris Farley” — the documentary about the beloved comedian who died in 1997 — opens in theaters on July 31, 2015. Check out the trailer with lots of comments from his peers, who all seemed to really care about and be touched by his being in their lives… for even so short a time.

Creed (Trailer)

Damn. I… DAMN! This is a great idea. All that is left is the delivery. What if we took the guttural energy of the “Rocky” franchise, put it in a movie, but not necessarily a sequel? How about a movie about a son – not Rocky Balboa’s, but Apollo Creed’s son – that we never knew about? That kid, could come up HARD, like his dad. Gravitating toward boxing, as a metaphor for a life rife with fights, this kid could be brash and indignant – just like his dad – but not like his dad. He doesn’t even have to like his dad; because he never knew his dad.

But he knew of his dad’s greatness… and his dad’s great in-ring nemesis and out-of-ring friend… the guy his dad trained to go next level [against Clubber Lang]… the guy who seconded in his corner the night his dad DIED in the ring…

The guy who would ultimately coach him to greatness. WOOOOO! Balboa teams with a Creed (played by Michael B. Jordan) again. Give him the damn red, white and blue shorts. LET’S GO!!!

Oh wait, it doesn’t come out until this Fall (November 25, 2015). In the meantime, watch this trailer for “Creed” – from the makers of [Jordan’s breakout biopic] “Fruitvale Station.” Please, Hollywood, PLEASE get this right.

Nas – Obey Your Thirst (Documentary)

Nas will get to tell his full Sprite documentary story – that is, it is set to drop – July 1, 2015.

“There was nothing more important to me than having a voice,” says Nas in the above trailer for his Obey Your Thirst documentary. “I always believed that I could give people my ideas through art.” Considering how mythologized he’s become thanks to his virtuosic lyricism — which earned him a spot 20 years ago in his classic 1997 Sprite ad — it’s a trip to hear what originally drove him to break into the world of Hip-Hop.

Just more evidence that the smart money is on the G.O.D.M.C. Always has been. Sprite’s known for 20+ years. Others have been catching up. Catch the trailer documentary above.

Wow! Jon Voight, C. Thomas Howell, and Sean Astin show up to film what promises to be a movie that will give you chill bumps. The setting: Birmingham, Alabama. The set location: BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA.

That’s right. Hollywood star power comes to the Magic City to tell the true story of ‘Touchdown’ Tony Nathan (played by Caleb Castille, son of Alabama and NFL star player Jeremiah Castille). Watch the “Woodlawn” trailer tease the ups, downs, controversies, conquering and overcoming it took to get from the ‘Ham down the highway to play for Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant’s (played by Voight) Alabama Crimson Tide… onto the field and onto the pages of history.

In theaters this October.

Shame (Short Film Trailer)

Talk about selling an album and a movie… at the same damn time! Tying in Tyrese’s last album “Black Rose” with this new Denzel Washington-produced short film “Shame.” The film casts Tyrese as the lead, playing an up and coming singer in 1968. Trying.

Check out the film trailer above. And the album (due out July 10, 2015) is linked for pre-order below.

Muscle Shoals (Trailer)

The world was coming to Muscle Shoals.

Located alongside the Tennessee River, Muscle Shoals, Alabama is the unlikely breeding ground for some of America’s most creative and defiant music. Under the spiritual influence of the “Singing River” as Native Americans called it, the music of Muscle Shoals has helped create some of the most important and resonant songs of all time. At its heart is Rick Hall who founded FAME Studios. Overcoming crushing poverty and staggering tragedies, he brought black and white together in Alabama’s cauldron of racial hostility to create music for the generations. He is responsible for creating the “Muscle Shoals sound” and The Swampers, the house band at FAME that eventually left to start their own successful studio, known as Muscle Shoals Sound. Greg Allman, Clarence Carter, Mick Jagger, Etta James, Alicia Keys, Keith Richards, Percy Sledge and others bear witness to Muscle Shoals’ magnetism, mystery and why it remains influential today.

Even Alicia Keys? Yoooo! Stream it on Netflix or cop at the link below whenever you like.

Extant – (Season 2 Trailer)

Hey, Halle. Over here… We would NEVER wanna shut you up.

Oh, sorry, having a moment with Halle Berry. Now, let’s talk about her show Extant; with its 2nd season jumping off July 2015. The trailer (above) shows action and drama by the bucket load, but not really giving up much in the way of storyline. Good thing there are interviews and story leaks online. Berry returns as astronaut Molly Woods, realizing that humanity is in bigger trouble than ever. The story thus far supported and built to such, but Yahoo TV had an interview that shed light on a significant turn in the show’s direction.

(WARNING: The rest might spoil some of it for true fans of the show already. Watch the trailer now, and go with our blessing.)

“I think Season 2 is a little sexier, a little soapier…It’s a substantial reboot, in that we’re going to come in, in this time and place, several months [after the Season 1 finale], and that puts Molly in a completely different head space. Her mental stability is potentially in question, and we’re going to find out how that happens. There is a significant amount of new casting that changes the landscape of what we’re doing, and it’s less about Molly as mom, and more about Molly as warrior. Molly as a sexy warrior.”
Liz Kruger, Producer

Okay… so are we talking ‘sexy warrior’ like Storm of X-Men… or is she going to go all ‘Pope’ on us like that show on ABC that we will not mention because, well, we just won’t (but shout to sexy Kerry Washington). Well, the trailer doesn’t show the Woods character flexing any mutant powers. And given the addition of Jeffrey Dean Morgan (playing J.B. Richter), known for his role on Grey’s Anatomy, CBS might be trying to win over some of ABC’s ‘Gladiator’ fan base with some romancing. Either way, check out the Season 2 trailer; and get ready for the Summer premier.

The Intern (Trailer)

Academy Award winners Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway share the lead in Warner Bros. Pictures’ answer to the ‘Does Hollywood still make good date movies?’ question: “The Intern.” De Niro stars as Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway). Looks like it’ll be light enough on the everyone-has-something-to-teach-and-learn fare with a good dose of comedy to wash it down. Check out the trailer.

Amy (Trailer)

Trailer for the new Amy Winehouse documentary, “Amy.” Critics loved it at Cannes Film Festival. We loved us some Amy (apparent by the posts on here). The doc goes into the lyrics, more than suggesting linkages between the movie and the singer’s tumultuous life in its slant… so much depth. Amy. Lost to the world at 27, but sure to be remembered by the world long, long after. Check this trailer out. In theaters July 3, 2015.
