Do Not Resist (Trailer)

Damn. Come September 2016, film producer David Menschel is gonna give us yet another look at ourselves that some (maybe the majority) of us do not want to see. But we HAVE to! When will the U.S. police forces realize that when your tool of choice is a hammer, everything looks like a nail? To break that down to simple compounds: When all you have to respond to even civil ‘threats’ is a MILITARIZED police force, you confront an unarmed gathering with an overly armed force… With sticks and stones they may threaten to break cops’ bones… so why not run ’em the f*ck over with our new tanks??!

See Rand Paul, yeah even Rand Paul, say the cops’ Army toys are NOT to be used in riot suppression? Let alone against unarmed, lawful protestors? Wow. Watch the trailer.

Cuba’s Skate Culture (Trailer)

When you look at the parallels between cultures, you learn more about yours as well as theirs. Cuba’s burgeoning skate culture came about as the poor people there becoming practioners, doing their thing in the park, with other people there loving and nurturing something of their own right where it is happening, and the outside world recognizing its beauty and coming to partake. Sounds like Hip-Hop’s beginnings, right? Cuba skate culture is evolving in a way we recognize. Salute! They did not ‘invent’ skating per se, but this is their own flavor. Get a taste of Cuba’s skate scene with the trailer above from VICE SPORTS.

Cuba’s skate scene has no funding, very few resources and not much to speak of in terms of a skate park. But despite those obstacles scene is growing, thanks in part to organizations like Cuba Skate and the kids that want to see it furthered. We travelled with Ishod Wair, Lucien Clarke, Andrew Reynolds and special guest photographer Arto Saari to see the best skate spots that the country has to offer and take note of a vibrant underground skate scene on the verge of change.

Hacksaw Ridge (“Believe” Trailer)

Mel Gibson is getting back into Tinsel Town through the front door (starring in “Blood Father”) AND behind the camera as director of this World War II epic “Hacksaw Ridge.”

HACKSAW RIDGE is the extraordinary true story of Desmond Doss [Andrew Garfield] who, in Okinawa during the bloodiest battle of WWII, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon, as he believed that while the war was justified, killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he single-handedly evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers and was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers. Doss was the first conscientious objector awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

This intense trailer is called “Believe.”

Floyd Norman: An Animated Life (Trailer)

An intimate journey through the celebrated life and career of the ‘Forrest Gump’ of the animation industry: Disney legend Floyd Norman. Hired as the first African-American at Disney in 1956, Floyd worked on such classics as SLEEPING BEAUTY and 101 DALMATIANS before being handpicked by Walt Disney to join the story team on THE JUNGLE BOOK. After Walt Disney’s death in 1966, Norman left Disney to found Vignette Films, where he developed the original FAT ALBERT TV special and produced segments for SESAME STREET. He would later work at Hanna-Barbera on many classic cartoons, including SCOOBY DOO. After Hanna-Barbera, Floyd’s talents took him to Pixar to work on TOY STORY 2 and MONSTERS INC. On Mr. Norman’s 65th birthday in 2000, Disney HR forced Floyd to retire. Refusing to leave his “home,” Floyd has “hijacked” a cubicle at Disney Publishing, unpaid, for the past 16 years, picking up freelance work when he can. At 81 he continues to have an impact as both an artist and a mentor. Mr. Norman plans to “die at the drawing board.”

War Dogs (Trailer)

Based on a true story, “War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

Wonder Woman (Comic-Con Trailer)

The official Comic-Con trailer for “Wonder Woman”, starring Gal Gadot, got dropped on nerds’ heads recently. Kinda reserved about it so far. “Batman vs. Superman” left some room for turning up for DC. But will “Suicide Squad” leave viewers like ‘WOW, great spinoff!’ or ‘Mehhh… rather see the Justice League flick’? Time will tell, but the trailer checks all the boxes for a comic book action hero war period piece that “Captain America: The First Avenger” did. So, can’t hate on DC for not trying hard.

Black Channel Films: “Gentrified – Police, Money & Ethnic Cleansing” (Documentary Trailer)

The Black Channel Films is working on a documentary that goes in depth about the true underlying effects of Gentrification. So much is happening within the Black community today it’s hard to keep track of all the issues.  Police officers have come into our communities and murdered black men and women with no repercussions.  How can this happen?  We don’t see these murders happening in the Asian community.  It’s not apparent in the Arab or Latino community but prevalent with Black people.  You cant point at just one location either.  Think about this St. Louis, New York, Cincinnati, Charleston, Minneapolis, Baltimore, Baton Rouge, Oakland are just some of the cities where black men and women were murdered.  So it’s not just the East Coast, West Coast, Midwest or the South it is all over.  One consistent thing is in none of these major cities there are no true black owned communities.  We also know that a number of Blacks are being funneled out of certain areas in these cities.  The term Gentrified is commonly used and most think it is just simply moving out of a neighborhood.  It goes much deeper than that and this film will connect the dots on all the different players involved in Gentrification.  Be on the lookout for when this film comes out and we will keep you updated on Jayforce.com.

Explaining how police are allowed to intimidate and even kill to remove Blacks from cities, this clip from the upcoming documentary “Gentrified” features NYC City Council Candidate Thomas Lopez-Pierre with narration by Jason Black

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (Comic-Con Trailer)

Attendees of this year’s Comic-Con got a first look at the trailer for “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” (in theaters 2017). Charlie Hunnam stars as Arthur; a less noble, more grimy version. Looks like the timeframe of the film’s setting is a bit more modern than other tellings of the story, too, but you still get the armor clanging, sword in stone, knight fighting and all of that.

The Great Wall (First Look Clip)

In this case, we are using Hollywood filmmaking to introduce Chinese culture.
Zhang Yimou

Promising true cross-cultural filmmaking – an American-scripted story told about, and in, China while remaining authentic. Starring Matt Damon, so it should be epic. Watch the piece above for proof. In theaters next year (2017).

But… will “The Great Wall” be accepted? Don’t think [at least] some Asians are feeling Hollywood putting out yet another White-man-saves-the-Asians movie. Even if it is a fantasy flick. Peep the Tweet-heat after the jump.

Justice League (Special Comic-Con Trailer)

Stop right there. I’m in!
I need friends.

Agreed, Barry. We all need friends, even Arthur Curry. Haa! Another super-powered trailer tailor-made for Comic-Con. Looks like they are going with the bad azz Aqua-Man for this incarnation of “Justice League.” Big screen, big action. Not sure it ought to be Batman out there doing the ‘recruiting’ but this trailer still manages to tease a movie that looks like it has merit. Take a look.

If you like it, you only have to wait over a year for it to hit theaters in November 2017.

Doctor Strange (Trailer)

Lotta buzz over a lot of trailers dropped off at Comic Con, as is always the case. Don’t let this one slip by you. Marvel is already winning in theaters, but this trailer teases a comic storyline never brought to the big screen. “Doctor Strange” got a mention as a serious threat to Hydra in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but to seriously roll the dice and make a whole film on the Stephen Strange character?

Yeah. Marvel’s doing it… BIG!
