Forest Whitaker Stars in “The Forgiven” (Video)

Maaaan. I didn’t even know this movie was out about Bishop Desmond Tutu. Forest Whitaker as the Bishop, huh? Not a bad choice. Respect! Opposite Eric Bana, a Hollywood heavyweight in a heavy role. “The Forgiven” looks like a good look.

Michael B. Jordan & Michael Shannon Star In “Fahrenheit 451” (Trailer)

Yep. That last line in this. Michael B. channeled some of that Killmonger energy.

Fahrenheit 451 is based on Ray Bradbury’s classic novel. In a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books, Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who struggles with his role as law enforcer and with his “mentor,” played by Shannon. Premieres Spring 2018.

They say that time heals all wounds. It does not.

Whoa. That’s a quote to frame, esp. for this case.

Roxanne Shanté Biopic Debuts March 23rd On Netflix (Trailer)

A Roxanne Shanté biopic, with Nia Long in there. Two good reasons to get that Netflix hookup popping ASAP if not sooner! Interesting pick for next Hip-Hop movie story. Would not have predicted it, but looking forward to it. Also starring Chanté Adams and Mahershala Ali. Check out the trailer.

In the early 1980s, the most feared battle MC in Queens, New York, was a fierce teenage girl with the weight of the world on her shoulders. At the age of 14, Lolita “Roxanne Shante” Gooden was well on her way to becoming a Hip-Hop legend as she hustled to provide for her family while defending herself from the dangers of the streets.
– Netflix

The real Roxanne Shanté is actually an executive producer. And Forest Whittaker is attached. Very interesting!

Tracy Morgan Stars In “The Last OG” (Series Trailer)

This new TBS series seems to be a really good look for Tracy Morgan’s return to television, esp. with Tiffany Haddish (making it even a ‘gooder’ look, sexy) who still has a hot iron to strike with.

Tray (Tracy Morgan) is an ex-con who is shocked to see just how much the world has changed when he is released from prison for good behavior after a 15-year stint. Returning to his newly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, he discovers that his former girlfriend, Shay (Tiffany Haddish), has married an affable, successful white man (Ryan Gaul) who is helping raise the twins (Taylor Mosby and Dante Hoagland) Tray never knew existed. Wanting nothing more than to connect with his kids, but having neither the money to support them nor himself, Tray falls back on the skills he learned in prison to make ends meet while treading unfamiliar territory.

SYFY Set To Tell The Story Of ‘The House Of El’ On “Krypton” (Trailer)

Okay, I’ll be there for this. Not an avid fan of SYFY series, but the channel has put out a couple of gems. Hope this one is good.

The legacy of the House of El is no longer safe. Brainiac is coming. Rao help us all.
Krypton premieres 3.21 on SYFY.

In particular, I want to see how the ‘House Of El’ will play out. Jor-El – father of Kal-El (aka Superman) – and most of the El ancestry is not known to us; which is good because that means there is a greatly-reduced chance of making fanboys and purists upset.

And there has been talk of the Kryptonian deity Rao on The CW series “Supergirl.” I’m interested in that story angle, too. Seeing as how Superman is pretty much a ‘god’ on Earth… what does a god’s god and religion ‘look like’ in this canon?

Of course, there is Brainiac. If they f**k that story arc up there will be consequences and repercussions!

‘Deadpool 2’ (And Cable) Coming To A Theater Near You In May 2018 (Trailer)

“Deadpool” was an epic cinematic bonus chapter of the Marvel Entertainment movie anthology. Take that part seriously, but not much else… even the serious characters. Like Cable: serious dude. But in this wacky Wade Wilson world, best believe you will be getting in quite a few chuckles.
