Al Elliott Shares His Story: Reasons For Rap

Really proud to say I know Al Elliott, and that I fondly remember his days with Chip Records, and another thing… well, I’ll save that for after the jump.
But peep this perspective he gives on Hip-Hop and his reasons for rapping, then and now. Wow. I’ve used the music for therapy. So have you, I’ll bet. But for speech therapy… not to mention for teaching and bonding with his son. Check out the audio stream above in which Al gives a talk for Arc Stories.
Al Elliott tells of overcoming his childhood stuttering through discovering rap music. The theme for the night was “Out with the Old: Stories About Change.”

Yoooooo! Remember that “To Catch A Predator” show with Chris Hansen – where he’d catch the pervy pedophiles trying to set up trysts with preteens? Well, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, it’s coming back! Reminisce with the above clip of another dude caught nearly in the act from a throwback episode.
Fundraising for Hansen’s new show, “Hansen vs. Predator,” surpassed its goal of $75,000 to reach $85,685. Learn more here.

Eventually finding his comedic lane to ride gave him a bigger voice for a much larger audience; but this shows that the actor/comedian already had a mind to say something of substance before he really got on. Okay “Control Your Jimmy” is funny… but don’t bag on the man’s skills. You see he is not rapping today.

8-8-2015 the Hip hop community lost Sean Price a.k.a. the brokest rapper you know. Like many I’m shocked to hear this. Sean P is one of my top 5 all time favorite rappers. For this reason I decided to pay homage to him by creating a video mix with only Sean P spitting those crazy, funny, clever and real rhymes that we all love.

As humans moving through life as best we can, we often wish could go back and [at least] talk to our past selves. Had to strike a chord within us to see this piece that blends throwback footage a hopeful up-and-coming Miguel blended with commentary from the seasoned mega-talent we have come to know over the years since. SO much insight on the artist, and the man, in a short clip. Watch.
[B]ack in 2008, we shot a young hopeful in San Pedro. He took us by his house, told us about his family. He was stuck, then, in a contract with a label that wanted him to be somebody different. He was busy holding the line, a little flustered, but not shook. He believed. When we went back to him this summer, we found the same person.
