Technology: Qualcomm’s Paul Jacobs Sees a Bright Future for Smartphones (Video)
Qualcomm was the chip company smart enough to put Internet protocols into cell phones right around the time the ‘Net was becoming accessible to the general public (early 1990s). The guy at the helm of a company that demonstrates such foresight is someone to whom we should listen, right?
Well, whether or not you do, I am listening to what Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs has to say:
‘There are a lot of opportunities… Obviously, the smartphone trend is going to continue… There will be 5 billion smartphones sold between now and 2016.’
– Paul Jacobs
5 billion!! Did y’all get that? Now, what would smart folks in media (radio, TV, performing artists, promoters, bloggers, etc.) be looking to do in light of such a tip from such an authority as Jacobs? I dunno.
(Yeah, I do. Look left. You can download the JayForce mobile app… to interact with this site via phone… to listen to Beatz & Lyrics with JayForce via phone… you… do get it, right?)
So, just how far can this mobile trend take us? Possibilities for business are obvious; but what about for humanity. Check it:
‘Let me tell you something that’s pretty cool. There’s a researcher we’re working with who has an idea to put a tiny chip inside your bloodstream … and it’ll maybe lodge in your wrist and look for certain indicators that in two weeks you might have a heart attack. Can you imagine that? So your phone will ring and tell you to go to your doctor. That’s in the lab right now. People are working on that now.’

R.I.P. James Hood, First Black Man to Enroll at The University of Alabama (Video)
I just learned that an often under-recognized civil rights figure has passed. My eternal respect and thanks to you, Mr. James Hood. Because of the courageous steps you and Vivian Malone took into Foster Auditorium long ago, I was allowed to walk the halls and earn two degrees from The University of Alabama decades later. Many of those young men who took the field to reclaim the NCAA Football Championship this year owe their right to do so to you and a faithful few who saw the battle for our civil rights through in those tough times.
R.I.P. Mr. Hood. Roll Tide!

Bill Cosby Being ‘Himself’ With Jimmy Fallon and The Roots (Video)
You know, I’ve seen so much video of Bill Cosby in serious activist mode… I almost forgot how funny he could be. By the way, ‘Bill Cosby Himself‘ is one of the three funniest stand-up comedy specials of all time. Just saying. The ‘Dad is Great…’ bit The Roots does here comes straight from that Cosby stand-up back in the day.
Above is part 1 of the first King of Must-See TV on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon… clowning with the host and Late Night’s Greatest Band, The Roots. Hahahaaaa! Check out part 2 after the jump (where the antics continue). So… is it like that in Philly for real JayForce?
(BONUS: I embedded a YouTube of ‘Bill Cosby Himself’ after the jump. Check it out. And you’re welcome!)

Brooklyn Nets Coach Avery Johnson Fired (Video)
ESPN has confirmed that Avery Johnson, named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for November, was fired by the Brooklyn Nets. Assistant P.J. Carlisemo was named interim head coach, and he will keep the rest of Johnson’s staff. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
Now eighth place in their Conference, the Nets started hot, winning 11 of their first 15 games; but only three of the last 13 in December. Simply put, the sizzle fizzled. So, Brooklyn’s management and ownership decided to fire Johnson.
“I just got a sense, as I told Avery this morning, that he just wasn’t reaching [the team] anymore.”
– Billy King, General Manager, Brooklyn Nets
Johnson’s reaction was captured in the clip above and in the clipped transcript below:
“…a really disappointing day… if I was owning the team, I wouldn’t have gotten fired today… it’s about the blame game… for the most part, in this business, the coach always gets blamed.”
– Avery Johnson, Former Coach, Brooklyn Nets
Wow… just… wow. Way to ride out the tough times with your coach, Nets! I wonder if the decision was unanimous… Somebody get Jigga on the phone… 1/15 of one percent of the money talks. Okay, okay…that was uncalled for…but funny though.
Would-be replacements for Johnson, a list of noteworthy available coaches includes Phil Jackson (good luck!), Jerry Sloan, Stan Van Gundy, Nate McMillan, Mike Dunleavy, Mike Brown, and ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy and Flip Saunders.
See? This sh!t right here? This sh!t right here, ninja… is part of why why I feel it just ain’t the same game.
Big Boi x Little Dragon Perform ‘Mama Told Me’ On Jimmy Fallon (Video)
I remember a while back Big Boi tweeted that he was working with Little Dragon for a song on his new album ‘Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors’ that drops this Tuesday December 11th. Upon glancing over the tracklisting I’m surprised to see a few songs featuring Little Dragon will make the album. One of my favorites singles from the album “Mama Told Me” featuring Kelly Rowland was originally done with the Swedish band as well. Check out the video of Big Boi & Little Dragon performing “Mama Told Me” on Jimmy Fallon last night above then download the original version of the song below.

Who doesn’t love Alicia Keys? As she performs her soulful rendition of the theme to the 1990s cartoon ‘Adventures of the Gummi Bears’ on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, you kind of want to laugh… but you’re kind of saying to yourself… ‘Alicia knows she can sing anything!’
On top of that, she is just that damn fine. You can laugh though. Alicia won’t be offended… mainly because she won’t find out that you did. At least, not from us. Hahaaaaa.
