California Cleared To Start Force-Feeding Inmates On Hunger Strike (Video)

You’d think once folks saw the atrocity that is force-feeding of inmates on hunger strike they’d stop the practice, right? But you probably guessed that officials would do just the opposite. But that was just at Gitmo – a military prison in Cuba. The United States would NEVER allow such to happen on its soil… right? Right…? WRONG! A California judge just cleared the way for force feeding of the state inmates on hunger strike given ‘certain conditions.’

‘US District Judge Thelton Henderson is allowing prison doctors in California to force-feed inmates who are participating in a hunger strike. According to the ruling, if a prisoner is near death then a doctor is allowed to step in and intervene in the matter. As of now, 136 inmates are protesting living conditions and policies in place at facilities in the Golden State.’

Sorry, Yasiin. It doesn’t seem that publicity surrounding your courageous effort was enough to change the hardliners’ hearts and minds. We posted the gruesome Yasiin Bey force-feeding demo on here a while back.

Ah! The Force is strong with this one. Watch King James go through an “appropriate struggle” in naming his Top 4 NBA players of all time. Most noteworthy is who he left off the list. Hmmm…

HBO Films: Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight (Trailer)

“Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight” premieres Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 8PM Eastern Time on HBO. This documentary has all the indications of greatness. An epic true life story: the then Heavyweight Champ Muhammad Ali refusing to enlist and go fight for the USA in Vietnam when he is drafted, a crisis of faith (his objections to the war), prison time, appeals taken all the way to the highest court in America… star power: Danny Glover, Christopher Plummer, Ed Begley Jr., Barry Levinson… and playing Ali… NO ONE! No one plays the Champ better than [stock footage of] the Champ!

HBO Films can pull it off though; as the documentary will focus more on the Supreme Court judges, their rulings and places in history, rather than on Ali himself.

In an interview with host Alex Wagner of MSNBC’s Now, Hip-Hop icon and co-founder of The Roots, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson declared that he was so taken aback when he found out that George Zimmerman got off (e.g. was acquitted of the murder of Florida teen Trayvon Martin) that he walked off of a DJ gig in Amsterdam. The Word: ‘Color-Bind’ on The Colbert Report (Video)

President Obama takes the first step in racial dialogue by discussing how it feels to be in a room full of White people who are scared of him.’

– The Colbert Report

Oh, Fox News! Only you would take serious commentary on being Black in America and dismiss the conversation as frivolous. Guess good ole boys will be good ole boys. Right, Bill O’Reilly? Bernard Goldberg? Actually reporting that questions on race are moot because [odds are] Black people are the ones committing violent crimes. Wowwww.

Don’t get mad though folks. Stephen Colbert hits ’em in the head with the brilliant/hilarious skit (above) about black men and racism. Have a chuckle at the Fox chuckle-heads’ expense.

The ESPYS: Comedian Jay Pharaoh As ‘Jay-Z The Sports Agent’ (Video)

If you missed the ESPY awards two nights ago then you probably missed this hilarious skit by comedian Jay Pharoah as he impersonates Jay Z ‘The Sports Agent’. Many people are not happy with the idea of Jay Z becoming a sports agent like rival agent Scott Boras with whom Jay Z took a shot at in a song on his new album. Those individuals wary about Jay Z entering into the sports world representing athletes may love this skit because it addresses the elephant in the room about people’s feelings on Jay Z guiding these athlete’s careers.  Even Master P spoke with some caution when he recently elaborated on Jay Z’s move into the sports management business & how he may need to be fully prepared.  Many of those unspoken issues were unveiled in this comedic skit by comedian Jay Pharoah at the ESPY awards that found some in the audience, who may or may not be doing business with Jay Z, not laughing at. In fact, even NY Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, who is represented by Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports, is now unhappy after the ink was dry from signing his new contract with the Giants because he realized that he was underpaid for what he was really worth. According to some sports talk radio reports his former agent allegedly stated he could have gotten him more but he chose to go with Roc Nation Sports. Big business politics aside, Jay Pharoah’s skit is hilarious. Only 1 or 2 comedians can do a great job on the Sean Carter impressions Like Aaries Spears.

PBS Frontline: Two American Families (Documentary)

Watch Two American Families on PBS. See more from FRONTLINE.

I love PBS! Engaging, thought-provoking viewing. I’ve been a fan of Bill Moyers for some time now, and he has reaffirmed my faith in him as a social issues commentator this episode of Frontline.

‘Since 1992, Bill Moyers has been following the story of two ordinary, hard-working families in Milwaukee — one black, one white — as they battle to keep from sliding into poverty. A remarkable portrait of perseverance, Two American Families raises unsettling questions about the changing nature of the U.S. economy and the fate of a declining middle class.’

“Citizen Koch” Is the Film Billionaire David Koch Doesn’t Want You To See (Documentary Trailer)

If you know your Tea Party politics, then you have heard of Charles and David Koch (b.k.a. The Koch Brothers). But this time David crossed a line. Here’s your chance to take a stand with documentary filmmakers Carl Deal and Tia Lessin (video of them explaining their “Citizen Koch” initiative above).

‘What happened to “Citizen Koch” provides a rare behind-the-scenes look at how big money from high dollar donors has massive influence on one of our most beloved public institutions, and on the public discourse. Ironically, that’s exactly what our film is about — how the money of the wealthiest drowns out the voices of the rest of us.

We believe that your voice can be louder than David Koch’s money.

We need your help now to release “Citizen Koch.” If you can give, please do. Any amount will help. Those trying to keep you from seeing the film are banking on the cynical belief that you don’t care. We are convinced that you do.

Your pledge will go toward delivering the film for distribution – paying for the sound mix, the color correct, archival footage and music licensing costs, and other distribution expenses, and then engaging the widest audience possible.

We are very grateful for any amount you can give.’

Thank you.

Carl Deal & Tia Lessin

These rich Republicans play dirty! Now, they are trying to control what PUBLIC television airs… in addition to the politicians that ultimately run the United States. Don’t let this happen! Help however you can. Suggestion: Donate to the Kickstarter Campaign to put “Citizen Koch” out to the masses. See the official trailer after the jump.
