Talib Kweli And Bill Maher Discuss #BlackLivesMatter Protesters Interrupting Bernie Sanders’ Presidential Campaign Speech (Video)
Bill Maher: Why Bernie Sanders? …If you’re gonna interrupt somebody… This guy had a hundred percent approval rating from the NAACP.
Talib Kweli: NAACP liked Donald Sterling, too.
And folks, that’s how we dig into a real conversation! Watch the video clip above and gain some perspective.
A while back, #BlackLivesMatter shut down a speech appearance by 2016 Presidential hopeful and leading American Progressive Bernie Sanders. Many disagreed with the women who took the mic. But EVERYONE paid attention, talked about it, talked about #BlackLivesMatter from many angles. Whether you ultimately agree or disagree with the tactic, Kweli does make a couple of solid points. The first, the duty of activist-protesters is to disrupt and gain the platform (which #BlackLivesMatter did LITERALLY). The second, NO candidate should take the Black vote for granted in 2016.
Very interesting. Do you agree with Kweli? Discuss…

Comedy: Meet The New HR Manager For ‘The Nightly Show’… Cam’ron (Video)
Larry Wilmore is going hard nowadays. The Nightly Show must protect itself from external AND internal threats to the brand. Moving to do so, he (chuckle) hires a new Human Resources manager to ensure no employee problems mess up the workplace culture or the Show’s rep. Larry will not get caught slipping like Amazon’s CEO did. And don’t worry, Killa Cam is highly qualified and motivated to ‘take care’ of personnel things as HR Manager.
Hilarious! Watch.
Ice Cube Talks About The N.W.A. Biopic. Black Thought And Questlove Talk About Cutting Class To Listen To N.W.A. (Video)
Hahaaa! Li’l Black Thought and Li’l Questlove were ditching school to bump that filthy Gangsta-Gangsta N.W.A. music. That’s right, the purists were had their ears on the gulley gritty sounds of Ren, Dre, Yella, Eazy and Cube back in the day. And oh damn, Cube is a guest on The Tonight Show, talking to Jimmy Fallon about the biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Watch them trip… and take a quick memory lane trip in the above clip.
She’s Got Game: Meeting The Game (Episode 1) [Video]
Don’t think of She’s Got Game as ‘reality television’ (well, you can if you want). Think of it as The Game sharing his Eye Candy with you. For while he looks for love, we get to look over his foine azz choices. And remember, so do his friends…
…and this is a competition… meaning these ladies are all but guaranteed to hate on each other at some point. So, now you have VH1 trademark drama on deck. Use that as ‘cover’ for your ogling. Got the show’s premiere episode cued above for you to practice that.
(You can say something like, “Baby, why are they acting all wild and crazy and embarrassing themselves like that? Breastses and azz just wiggling and jiggling all over the place. And do you see what they are wearing? Wow. Let’s remember to watch for that when we rewind when we watch this again On Demand. Mm mm mm. Just trifling. Right, Honey? Honey… awww why you mad? What did I do now??! Just trying to spend quality time watching TV with you, and now you get salty.”)
Whew! Check for some snapshots after the jump. And altogether say, “Thank you, Game” (who is still rocking shows AND exec producing the show… meaning the player is still about business)!
Survivor’s Remorse (Season 2 Trailer)
Season 1 was pretty funny, and Season 2 looks to top the silliness…and the sexy. Yep, Mike Epps asked if ol’ girl licked her belly button FROM THE INSIDE!!?? Wowwwwww. Oh, and there’s basketball. And um, Lebron James (executive producer) has something to do with the whole thing (hahaaaa).
“Survivor’s Remorse,” a six-episode half-hour comedy series, follows Cam Calloway played by Jessie T. Usher, a basketball phenom in his early 20’s who is suddenly thrust into the limelight after signing a multi-million dollar contract with a professional basketball team in Atlanta. Cam, along with his cousin, and confidant Reggie Vaughn, played by RonReaco Lee, move to Georgia to start Cam’s journey to success.
The two confront the challenges of carrying opportunistic family members and their strong ties to the impoverished community that they come from. Cam, Reggie, and an unforgettable group of characters wrestle with the rewards and pitfalls of stardom, love, and loyalty.
The Game Takes A Page From Flavor Flav In New Reality TV Show (Video)
The Game says the only thing still missing in his life is a lady to love (got close: flashback to “Marrying The Game”). Well, he’s gonna find one dammit. And he’s gonna get his friends to help. And NO… the show is NOT called The Game Of Love. It’s called “She’s Got Game.” Check out the trailer above.
Lauryn Hill Performs “Feeling Good” Live on ‘The Tonight Show’ (Video)
L Boogie sang that! You can admit it, once you watch. She was Jimmy Fallon’s guest on The Tonight Show – doing her tribute cover of “Feeling Good†(off the “Nina Revisited… A Tribute to Nina Simone” compilation) with a live band.
50 Cent ‘Kept It 100’ With Larry Wilmore On ‘The Nightly Show’ (Video)
Yep, Larry is not letting up on Cosby. That and more with a strong panel on this episode of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore – Judd Apatow (director/producer of “Trainwreck”), Rachel Feinstein (comedian, frequent guest, sexy…just saying), and 50 Cent (rapper, has that movie “Southpaw” coming, and you know about exec-producing and co-starring in “Power” on the Starz channel). And the “Keep It 100” segment, strong (no ‘weak tea’).
More after the jump.
Unsung: Kid ‘N Play (Video)
Hmmm… don’t know if Kid ‘N Play could truly be considered ‘Unsung’… seeing as how they had hit records (plural), a string of movies, that hook-the-legs-spin-around-shoe-tap dance thing… but they are on an episode. Aaaand the insights from those episodes are really good; this one included. Watch TVOne’s documentary exploration of one of Hip-Hop’s favorite duos.
Take It Personal: Ghostface Killah Still Has Beef With Action Bronson (Video)
When ur wrong ur wrong and I was wrong. I apologized for the comments. I’ll always be a stand up human. Much love.
— MR. WONDERFUL (@ActionBronson) July 20, 2015
It has come to our attention that some of y’all may not be aware of the near-nuclear-launch tension between Action Bronson and Ghostface Killah. Here is what has come to pass, and why Ghostface put out the above visual getting in Bronson’s azz:
- Bronson goes on a show on ESPN, and near the end, kinda goes in on Ghost (see after the jump).
- Ghost hears about the shot Bronson took at him on TV, and the two talk it out via phone, AND Bronson apologizes via Twitter…AND deletes those Tweets (per the Ghost vid above).
- Ghost goes the f#ck off (the video above…daaayyyuuummmm)!
- Bronson apologizes on Twitter (and leaves the Tweet up, see below the video above).
This just in… Ghost does NOT accept Bronson’s apology. See?
NOW, in case you keep up with such things, you are up on things.
James Corden, Rod Stewart & A$AP Rocky Sitting In A Car… Lip S-y-n-c-i-n-g (Video)
Shagging and a drinking, drinking and a shagging… Rod Stewart says that is how he knew he was truly Rock & Roll when James Corden asked. How might A$AP Rocky answer? Doing a track with Stewart samples all in it (“Everyday”)…THEN lip syncing to that track in the back of the Ac (or whatever vehicle that was on ‘The Late Late Show’)! That’d be a good one! Great clip. Watch.
Big Sean Joins Stephen A. Smith & Skip Bayless On ESPN’s First Take (Video)
Yep, MTV (Music Television) isn’t really focused on dropping music videos anymore. No Yo! anymore. Heads watch a lot of ESPN. Shout and RIP to Stuart Scott, and Stephen A. Smith, for steering the network into the Hip-Hop sphere. So, now we are hosting rap stars and debuting vids on ESPN. Like in this First Take episode here: We get Big Sean with his video for “One Man Can Change The World,” promoting the album (“Dark Sky Paradise”)…and they get a good amount of sports talk in, too. Talking about his Detroit Lions, his fav b-baller Steph Curry and more.
Living Famously: Marvin Gaye (Documentary)
BBC docu-series ‘Living Famously’ gives a near-hour look at the life and legacy of the brilliant, gone-way-too-soon crooner Marvin Gaye. Enigmatic, tumultuous, mega-talented, tragic, soulful, sad… too many emotions and descriptors for the singer’s life and career. A view from all angles in this episode about one of the most influential musical and cultural figures of the 20th Century (arguably of all time).
