Dr. Dre + Jimmy Iovine Are ‘The Defiant Ones’ (HBO Trailer)
That music. Isn’t that on the movie soundtrack for “The Untouchables?” Because that’d be kind of dope.
The Defiant Ones is a four-part documentary series that tells the stories of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre.
– HBO
Debuting July 9th. Another related film coming to the small screen in the ‘Aftermath’ (get it?) of the “Straight Outta Compton” movie.
LA 92 (Full Documentary)
Maybe some of you are too young to really remember the actual Rodney King police brutality case, the trial that ended with the cops who beat him found not guilty, and Los Angeles exploding – throngs of people realizing [again] that Black live did NOT matter. Well, National Geographic condensed those tragic events and the essence and lessons into a near two-hour documentary. That entire program is embedded and ready for watching above.
Twenty-five years after the verdict in the Rodney King trial sparked several days of protests, violence and looting in Los Angeles, LA 92 immerses viewers in that tumultuous period through stunning and rarely seen archival footage. Produced by two-time Oscar winner Simon Chinn and Emmy winner Jonathan Chinn and directed by Oscar winners Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin, the film looks at the events of 1992 from a multitude of vantage points, bringing a fresh perspective to a pivotal moment that reverberates to this day.

2 Chainz a national treasure pic.twitter.com/mYQ6szlliK
— Pleighboi Kofie (@KofieYeboah) May 2, 2017
HILARIOUS!!
Remember when 2 Chainz took on The Human Highlight Reel aka Dominique Wilkins? Well, go back to that post here… AFTER you watch what we have here above… because Titty Boi 2 Pointer is balling with the Big Leaguers again. And he is giving them enough to where the NBA’ers have to give him some talk back. Get ’em 2 Chainz. Rep the ATL well!
That tape –
Bonus behind the scenes trash talk from the pro-ballers after the jump. A whole other thing. Really good though.
J. Cole: 4 Your Eyez Only (A Dreamville Film) [Video]
So real, it’s surreal.
That’s a Mos Def quote but it works for this documentary. J. Cole’s (and Scott Lazer’s) documentary – bearing the name of Coleworld’s latest LP – originally aired on HBO on April 15, 2017. Cool move allowing this to run online for FREE.99 for everyone who might want to see this but do not have HBO.
Watched it on [not just] TV… about to watch it again here. Join us! Linked the LP again below for you for later, too.
Comedy: Aziz Ansari Diversifies ‘The Late Show’ (Video)
Mixing that Brown with that White… Not a good idea when drinking… but a GREAT idea when it comes to comedy and late night TV. Let the hilarity ensue as Aziz Ansari integrates Colbert’s show. Haaaahahaaa!
When Aziz is sitting next to Stephen, 100% of the people on “The Late Show” are from South Carolina, and 50% are not White. That’s progress!

Neil deGrasse Tyson Talks About The ‘Pale Blue Dot’ And Our Place In The Universe (Video)
I remember a show on TV growing up called “Big Blue Marble” that hinted at the smallness of planet Earth compared to the vastness of space; but it still referred to it as the ‘biggest marble’ in the game. But…BUT… watch modern science guy Neil deGrasse Tyson show us just how small our home is as a place in the universe… but still let us know that we are STILL special.

Hasan Minhaj (Of The Daily Show) Gives An Roast Epic Speech At The White House Correspondents’ Dinner (Video)
Ohhhhhh shhhheeeeeeeiiiit! I wanted to categorize this as comedy, but this is more. This is even more biting than mere satire; plenty of BITE. Don Rickles (RIP) level roasting of an entire room AND of The President… you know, at the WHITE HOUSE Correspondents’ event that they have EVERY year.
Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj took full advantage of Donald Trump’s absence by taking aim at The President and his administration during his monologue at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
– Global News
I’m sure it was on his calendar. But hell, I cannot blame him. Some of this sh!t BURNED, but it seems like everyone took it in stride. And I do mean everyone, because ‘The Daily Show’ Correspondent Hasan Minhaj gave a taste to EVERYONE: Not just the POTUS, but key officials in his Administration, with shots for Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, even C-SPAN (who broadcasts the event annually)!
You HAVE to watch, but strap up and sack up. Hasan is hella funny, but his speech hits hella HARD! Whew.

Hard Knocks: Tampa Bay Buccaneers (HBO Teaser)
Famous Jameis Winston and his Bucs are next up on HBO’s behind-the-everything Hard Knocks documentary series.
Hard Knocks: Training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicks off August 8 on HBO.
The Making Of “Strength Of A Woman” (VH1 Trailer)
Watching the trailer for “The Making Of: Strength Of A Woman” (debuting on VH1, May 2nd at 11pm EST) you get a sense that Mary J. Blige is laying it all on the line in a few ways. First, she mentions a couple of times that this “Strength Of A Woman” project she is dropping is about healing herself; sharing her struggles, not prescribing or preaching for anyone else. That more than infers a second; Mary putting her business all the way out there (which she has done before, but that “that’s my Becky With The Good Hair” line implies some SCANDALOUS storytelling is in store). Third, The Queen Of Hip-Hop Soul declares that this LP is the ‘real Mary‘… almost like a love-it-or-leave-it decision point will be laid out for the fans who cop. Risky, but hey, it’s Mary J; so folks will likely love it.
Now, we’d be pound foolish not to mention the coup of leveraging Mary’s brand in pushing an ‘album documentary’ timed around the release of “Strength Of A Woman” on VH1 where her target audiences (longtime fans of hers AND longtime fans of reality show level DRAMA) will be watching. Plus, peep all the contributors’ cameos, from Diddy to DJ Khaled.
There’s a reason the Queen is the most powerful attacking piece on the board. The Queen Of Hip-Hop Soul is on the move, starting with tomorrow’s release of “Strength Of A Woman” followed by this tell-everything documentary on May 2nd.
Farewell To Bill O’Reilly: From Stephen Colbert And ‘Stephen Colbert’ (Video)
Wow, there is NO chill when it comes to celebrating reporting on the departure of Bill O’Reilly from Fox News, is there? Just one more clip on that. It’s a good one though. Haaa!
A brash, loud-mouthed, far-right know-it-all has some parting words for a brash, loud-mouthed, far-right know-it-all.
Stephen Colbert is HILARIOUS, and so is ‘Stephen Colbert.’
(That Patriots’ White House shot he fit in there, too. Bwaaahahaaa!)

Stephen Colbert With A ‘420 Monologue’ To (Not) Remember [Video]
Wonder if Stephen ever ‘inhaled’ though. But he and intern Stoney Von Dankington have this same convo every year on this date. Yes. THAT is the real meaning behind 4/20 – a commemoration of their hilarious conversation.
(That… and puff-puff-PASS maaaaan. Hahaaaa!)

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger (Series Trailer)
Good move for Marvel for 2018: Push further into TV. DC is doing it… very well… on The CW (Supergirl, The Flash, Legends Of Tomorrow, Arrow) and Fox (Gotham). Five shows to Marvel’s one-and-a-half (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. with Legion counting as a ‘half’ for now).
And this trailer for Marvel’s “Cloak & Dagger” – set to debut on Freeform (formerly ABC Family). DOPE!
(Plus, Marvel is already RULING all on Netflix. Maaaan!)
Trevor Noah On Bill O’Reilly Getting Fired From Fox News (Video)
Comedy Central’s ‘Fake News’ with some real talk on the now former head of the real news fakers. Yeah, marinate on that as you watch this. Plus, remember a few days back, in that interview during which Ludacris mentioned ‘troubles’ that Bill O’Reilly was going through? Well, not to pile on, but…
Trevor celebrates Bill O’Reilly’s ouster at Fox News by looking back at some of “The O’Reilly Factor” host’s most racist moments.
– The Daily Show
Technically, this is likely the start of the end of all the hubbub for Bill. Career-wise, at least.

SNL: ‘President Trump’ Gives His Supporters Answers (Video)
Saturday Night Live is absolutely killing it! This spoof of ‘The President’ telling his loyal supporters about everything that’s gonna be JUNKED! is everything. Another bowl of delicious finger chili anyone? Bahahaaa!
President Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin) meets with supporters (Mikey Day, Beck Bennett, Kyle Mooney, Aidy Bryant) in Kentucky’s Boone County.

“The O’Reilly Factor With Donald Trump” On SNL (Video)
Bill O’Reilly and President Donald Trump get the spoofing of a lifetime! Alec Baldwin gave ’em the BUSINESS!! Imitation is the highest form of comedy in this clip. Bwaaaahahaaa!

The Chainsmokers – “Paris” (Live Performance) [Video]
That most recent SNL was pretty good all the way ’round. Found out about a new school cool band, The Chainsmokers. Really liking this song, “Paris.”
Knowing now that they are a DJ duo, I also note something very ‘Hip-Hop adjacent’ about their style… not hollering “appropriation” or anything, just calling it out.
(Plus, did you see how HOT the Honey singing background on the left is. INSANELY gorgeous! Wish someone would tell me who she is. Because WOW!)

Comedy: Louis C.K. Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’ (Stand-Up Monologue) [Video]
Yes. That’s right. That’s right. That’s appropriate.
You know how every now and then you will see a Louis C.K. post on here? Think that is an accident?
Okay, that was rhetorical. Hell naw it ain’t no accident! Louis C.K. is one of the funniest comedians out today. Point. Blank. Period. FACTS!
I have been watching and laughing for years. Louis is SURGICAL at touching nerves that should be touched while extracting laughter. And his shows are loaded with line-stepping; a feat he performs without fear, and in ways very few comedians can equal.
Exhibit A… THIS! Louis C.K. was the guest on SNL giving the audience the business! Going right in with a chicken, a Black guy, and racism…
Wait what!!!
You gah-damn right you’re gonna watch now… and thoroughly enjoy! Keep in mind, this is just the opening monologue.

Joey Bada$$ – “Land Of The Free” (Live Performance) [Video]
One of the things that could have been a casualty of Stephen Colbert’s move from Comedy Central to big network TV would have been the kinds of artists he booked. Fortunately, we are still getting to see the likes of Joey Bada$$ do their thing on The Late Show on CBS. Dope!
Rapper Joey Bada$$ makes his Late Show debut with a track from his upcoming album ‘All-Amerikkkan Bada$$.’
Comedy: Who Wins When Jimmy Fallon Lip Sync Battles Shaquille O’Neal? (Video)
We all win!
Okay, so you read the title and you think: Shaq used to rap and he was always clowning during NBA All-Star Weekend game intros and hamming it up for the crowds… AND Fallon has done tons of musical fun stuff on his show. Ought to be pretty entertaining. And you’d be absolutely RIGHT!
Jimmy faces off with Shaquille O’Neal, with a surprise appearance by Pitbull, in a hilarious lip sync-off to songs like Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative,” Ariana Grande and John Legend’s “Beauty and the Beast” and House of Pain’s “Jump Around.”
So, surprise: Pitbull! But what most of us probably perpetually underestimate is just how far and fast Jimmy will ‘go there’ to get laughs and wows from the audience. Case in point, this clip. Hahaaaa!
