ESPN’s Outside The Lines: Carry On (Trailer)

I watched this on ESPN Sunday afternoon and found it to be nothing short of inspiring. Wow.
The network initially profiled Dartanyon Crockett – legally blind, homeless and motherless – and his friend, Leroy Sutton, who was often found on Crockett’s back (the result of his losing his legs after being run over by a train when he was 11) four years ago. ESPN revisited and updated the touching story of the friendship and bond of these two young athletes today.

After so much Miami Heat HATE, “King James The 4th” (MVPs) aka Lebron James & the Miami Heat have conquered once again for another back-to-back NBA championship. I’m blessed to have ‘witnessed’ & covered, in-person, Lebron’s first championship win back in 2012 & this year’s historic 2013 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. After the Miami Heat’s historic 27-game winning streak this season, Lebron winning his 4th league MVP, & the rather eventful ‘Harlem Shake’ video, it was inevitable that this year would be nothing less than special in a myriad of ways. I had secured great seats not far from being courtside believing Miami would win it all in 6 games over the San Antonio Spurs, but when it was apparent there would be a game 7 I had to swap that out. My game 7 seats weren’t as great as my seats in 2012 or even my game 6 seats, but this was not at all bad considering there really aren’t any bad seating arrangements in Miami’s American Airlines arena to begin with. The sight lines were still very good & close to the action which was clearly visible from our seats. The most important thing was being in the building to witness history & to report on it. As the squad prepares for the 2013-2014 season in just a few months for a possible 3-peat, here’s the JAYFORCE.COM report & recap via tweets, pics, & with video of what took place in Miami before, during, & after the Heat pulled out a historic & classic game 7 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Vinyl Destination | Ep. 13: Celebrating Independence Day With The Magnificent DJ Jazzy Jeff (Video)

In episode 13 of Vinyl Destination, DJ Jazzy Jeff was back home with family… so to speak… doing his thing on stage with his fam The Roots in the hometown Philly. Everybody from Queen Latifah to Common to Daryl Hall was in town for the Fourth of July celebration show. Great practice footage; and the fanfare and fireworks at the concert were appropriate for the incredible show enjoyed by all. An unparalleled celebration of America in the city of its birth. But the party didn’t stop there. It was off to Dusk (a venue in Atlantic City). On the way, Jeff shared some touching sentiments about his late friend DJ AM.

First Annual Snoop Youth Football League Family Fun Day (Video)

Recently, Snoop hosted the First Annual Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL) Family Fun Day at Crenshaw High School in Los Angeles. Now, check out how his camp’s coaching line-up: Appearing was the NFL Coach Pete Carroll (Seattle Seahawks), NFL players DeMarcus Ware (Dallas Cowboys), DeSean Jackson (Philadelphia Eagles), LaMarr Woodley (Pittsburgh Steelers), Ronnie Hillman (Denver Broncos), Willie McGinest (formerly of the Cleveland Browns) and Keith Bullock (formerly of the Tennessee Titans). You say what you want about Miami Heat All-Star Chris Bosh but this dude is hilarious with all the situations that seem to happen with him. Self-inflicted suspect photobombs or not one thing for sure is you can’t deny the guy can play basketball. This ESPN mini-documentary with Lisa Salters exposes Chris Bosh for who he really is…..just a geeky, nerdy, yet highly intelligent former Georgia Tech student who had an interest in engineering & computer programming. To Chris Bosh’s wife he’s just a “goofball” who in more ways than one is just an entertainer at heart. Despite some of the negativity he’s received it’s kinda cool to see Chris Bosh won’t allow anything to affect his sense of humor.

Phil Jackson Makes Controversial Comparisons On The Skills Of Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant (Video)

Legendary NBA coach Phil Jackson has coached 2 of the greatest NBA players to have ever played the game. For years he’s dodged the primary question most sports fans & reporters have desperately wanted him to answer. Now that he’s making the media rounds promoting his new book, Phil Jackson is finally speaking out. Phil Jackson compares Air Jordan to the Black Mamba in the above video of his interview with Jay Leno. Jay referenced Jackson’s book, Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success (due out May 21, 2013; available for pre-order at Amazon) in guiding their talk in this direction. In it, and in the above clip, Coach Jackson declares that both Jordan and Bryant are world class competitors; matched up in several aspects, but there are key differences, according to one of the few men in the world who can really say so. Coach ‘Zen Master’ also talks about how he set up a meeting between the two and his near-return to the Los Angeles Lakers’ bench. Kobe recently took to twitter & didn’t exactly seem too pleased with his former coach’s comparisons. I’d have to agree with Phil though….

As the series heads back to Miami tomorrow with the team up 3-1 on the Chicago Bulls it looks like my favorite team the Miami Heat are closer to another historic run for an NBA Championship.
