Now that Drake’s new album ‘Nothing Was The Same’ is getting some play on people’s sound systems he’s now making the media rounds at various outlets like ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A. Smith & Skip Bayless. In the clip above the Toronto kid speaks on his relationship with controversial Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel. There’s more video below as he also speaks on his relationship with Lebron James…

ESPN: Revis Island – The Darrelle Revis Story (Video)
ESPN’s E:60 takes on the life journey so far of one Darrelle Revis. “Revis Island – The Darrelle Revis Story” takes us from Revis’ small-town upbringing and career beginnings in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania… to entering the nearby University of Pittsburgh… to joining the NFL and playing for the New York Jets… to tearing his ACL… and to getting traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers… all in the short clip above. Of course, Darrelle’s story is still being written.
Pro Football’s Calvin Johnson Has a ‘Bad Boy’ Alter Ego Handling His Business In This Nike Commercial (Video)
Calvin: Wow, Johnson looks a lot like…
Johnson: Nah, I’m Johnson.
Professional Football is a business… like selling athletic apparel. Those who play for a living operate in two halves; football and the rest. Gotta take care of the football, Calvin Johnson. And, Calvin Johnson, you gotta handle the business of being… well, Calvin Johnson.
It’d help Calvin to have an alter ego that could handle rest of his biz. Enter Diddy Johnson.
Cee-Lo Throws Out The First Pitch at a Dodgers Game & Fields Questions About the New GooDie MOB’s LP & Upcoming Reality Show (Video)
The opening pitch from Cee-Lo. Not bad – better than some. What’s important… his GooDie MOB brothers (T-Mo, Big Gipp, & Khujo) are there to applaud and get his back for the interview. All at Dodger Stadium on the day of their album (“Age Against The Machine”) release. During the interview, Cee-Lo also talks about the group’s upcoming TBS reality show The Good Life, as well as the album.
NFL All-Time Great Lawrence Taylor Profiled in “The Life & Times†(Documentary Trailer)
Drugs, sex, controversy… Probably traits of a life story that should be made into a movie. Oh, it’s Pro Football Hall Of Famer Lawrence “LT” Taylor’s life? DEFINITELY should have been made into a movie by now! Well, Showtime has done it. One of the most controversial professional athletes in history, over the top drug abuse, and crimes of a sexual nature… yeah, LT’s life will make for a compelling subject for the documentary debuting Friday, September 20, 2013, at 8pm ET/PT.
Lebron James Names His Top 4 NBA Players Of All-Time (Video)
Ah! The Force is strong with this one. Lebron James actually demonstrates the type of skill on the mic during interviews that one might expect of someone who is already a color commentator at courtside… or in the TV studio. Watch King James go through an “appropriate struggle” in naming his Top 4 NBA players of all time. Most noteworthy is who he left off the list. Hmmm…
VICE: The Harlem Globetrotters & Dennis Rodman Visit North Korea (Video)
I’ve been posting interesting stories & documentaries from VICE for a few years now. And this isn’t the first time we’ve posted their reports on North Korea, but what makes this particular trip back to North Korea wildly interesting is they’ve brought along the Harlem Globetrotters & former NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman. The news that VICE was returning to North Korea & that NBA champion Dennis Rodman agreed to go with them sent shockwaves throughout the world & had everyone around the globe talking. There’s moments of hilarity in this video captured this North Korea trip but it wasn’t at all perpetuated by Dennis Rodman. It was in the cultural differences & appearances the North Korean government was trying to keep up for their guests. Overall from watching this video of the trip to North Korea it’s clear that the Harlem Globetrotters may have left the biggest impact on this diplomatic exchange.
Mike Tyson Plays ‘Mike Tyson Punch Out’ For The First Time (Video)
You think he’d have gotten around to doing this at least once in his life before now… but… nope! While Iron Mike Tyson is hanging out in the Fox Sports green room, he gets to play Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out on Nintendo for the first time. I wonder if he’ll figure out the secret to beating the Champ. To do that, he must first learn how to beat Glass Joe (the video game’s first and weakest opponent)!
Business: How Worker-Owned Companies Operate (Video)
I was speaking with a friend who is also an Oakland Raiders fan like myself. The Raiders have major financial obstacles in their attempts to get a new stadium built in Oakland or anywhere else in Northern California. The Oakland Raiders have also recently been ranked by Forbes magazine as the least valuable NFL franchise despite having a huge global fanbase. The Raiders have one of lowest amount of operating dollars of all the 32 teams in the NFL. Fans may not be able to help the stadium situation, but they can definitely change the value of the team. I have said on numerous occasions it would be great if the Raiders adopted a similar ownership system like the Green Bay Packers in which the fans of the team can become shareholders. The Green Bay Packers are the only NFL franchise that operates in this manner. Current NFL rules require an owner to have no less than a 30% majority share of the team. I feel this could work for the Raiders if owner Mark Davis offered a 49% or less share to the fans. Our discussion then turned to the corporate aspect of worker owned companies. Ironically I ran across this interesting short documentary on the topic while surfing the web that goes to further illustrate the point that collective ownership is the key to win in many instances.

Comedy: Houston Rockets Star ‘James Harden’ Releasing New Album Called ‘Harden Soul’ (Video)
Hahaaaaaa!!!! Golden State Warrior Steph Curry makes a cameo in this joint too…
“ESPN’s Darren Rovell sits with the Houston Rockets’ James Harden to talk about his new album, “Harden Soul,” Taylor Swift comparisons, shrimp and his possible retirement from basketball.” -ESPN
Tiger Woods’ PGA Pal Rory McIlroy Has A Nice New Home (Video)
Seems like Tiger’s young golf homie Rory Mcllroy moved into a dope brand new house near his crib.
‘PGA TOUR star Rory McIlroy gives an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at his beautiful home in Jupiter, Florida, and shares how music is an intricate part of his life.’
Wow… and Rory said he needs to keep winning to fill his trophy room up. Heard that, sir! Watch the clip.
Comedy: NFL QB Brothers Peyton & Eli Manning Debut Hilarious New Video For ‘Football On Your Phone’ (Video)
Yeah! Rap with a message. Even the NFL’s Peyton and Eli Manning know it is important to have a message within the music. “It’s football on your phone.” How’s that for a message?
Hahaaaa! The Manning boys are flow-nomenal (and funny) in this one… even getting their dad (Archie) in this crazy DirecTV’s NFL Sunday commercial.
Technology: Thanks To Moto-Knee, Extreme Athletes Who Lose a Limb Need Not ‘Lose a Step’ (Video)
Mike Schultz, founder of Minnesota-based prosthetics company Biodapt, is a professional racer who had a need for speed… on a snow-ski. Then he lost a limb up to the knee in an accident. Then he replaced that knee with his innovation, the Moto-Knee, and kept it moving… better… stronger… faster.
(Yes! A ‘Six Million Dollar Man’ 70s TV reference! Recognize the G[eek] in me!)
Check out the demo video above to see just what a prosthesis can do (e.g. can allow an extreme athlete to do). Good tech. No down side to report on this one. Enjoy!
NBA: 90 Seconds With Derek Rose (Video)
Chicago Bulls NBA star Derek Rose is set to return to the league following his severe knee injury & from the looks of CNN’s ’90 Seconds With…’ segment he’s supremely confident that’s he’s ready to go. The Chicago native when asked who’s the best player in the NBA right now he without hesitation let it be known that he was indeed the man despite some of the negative press he received for sitting out last season. Yes, confident is how athletes are supposed to be, but in a follow up question he did give a nod to the skill & dominance of “King James”.  Makes for an interesting matchup when their respective teams are speculated to meet again in October. I also like how Derek Rose mentioned Malcolm X as one of his life’s influences. I guess he’s applying the term ‘By Any Means Necessary’ in bringing an NBA championship back to Chicago.
The ESPYS: Comedian Jay Pharaoh As ‘Jay-Z The Sports Agent’ (Video)
If you missed the ESPY awards two nights ago then you probably missed this hilarious skit by comedian Jay Pharoah as he impersonates Jay Z ‘The Sports Agent’. Many people are not happy with the idea of Jay Z becoming a sports agent like rival agent Scott Boras with whom Jay Z took a shot at in a song on his new album. Those individuals wary about Jay Z entering into the sports world representing athletes may love this skit because it addresses the elephant in the room about people’s feelings on Jay Z guiding these athlete’s careers. Even Master P spoke with some caution when he recently elaborated on Jay Z’s move into the sports management business & how he may need to be fully prepared. Many of those unspoken issues were unveiled in this comedic skit by comedian Jay Pharoah at the ESPY awards that found some in the audience, who may or may not be doing business with Jay Z, not laughing at. In fact, even NY Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, who is represented by Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports, is now unhappy after the ink was dry from signing his new contract with the Giants because he realized that he was underpaid for what he was really worth. According to some sports talk radio reports his former agent allegedly stated he could have gotten him more but he chose to go with Roc Nation Sports. Big business politics aside, Jay Pharoah’s skit is hilarious. Only 1 or 2 comedians can do a great job on the Sean Carter impressions Like Aaries Spears.
ESPN First Take: Master P States His Opinions On Jay Z Entering The Sports Agency Business (Video)
The first rapper to enter into the world of representing pro athletes was Master P. By now everyone should be familiar with the infamous deal that former NFL running back Ricky Williams signed with the New Orleans Saints that didn’t go over well in his favor. Master P stopped by ESPN’s First Take to speak with Stephen A. Smith & Skip Bayless to give his opinion on Jay Z’s entrance into the world of sports agency. Having dealt with the ups & downs of formerly running his no defunct NO LIMIT SPORTS agency, it was interesting to see Master P choose his words carefully without being negative or discouraging even though it feels like he’s saying it may not be the best move for a few parties involved.
ESPN First Take: Nelly Accurately Explains Why Dwight Howard Left The Los Angeles Lakers (Video)
St. Louis rapper Nelly appeared on ESPN’s First Take with Stephen A Smith & Skip Bayless hours ago & he was on point with his analysis of a few topics discussed on the show. I watched the show live & found Nelly to be spot on about his analysis of why Major League Baseball is falling off as well as why more African-Americans are not gravitating to the game. The most explosive debate occurred when the topic of discussion turned to the reason Dwight Howard left the Los Angeles Lakers. If you follow me on twitter then you will know that I’ve addressed the elephant in the room involving Kobe Bryant for a while now. Although I don’t have a national platform like ESPN to express my opinion, it was a pleasant surprise to see someone like Nelly not play the political correctness game that most of these journalists do by just being very direct about what’s REALLY going on. The bottom-line is that although most of these NBA players respect Kobe’s talent, a larger number of them do not want to play with Kobe. I’ve spoken with a number of NBA players who’ve said similar things off the record. Nelly was spot on with his analysis regarding Dwight Howard but with him actually being friends of the Houston Rockets’ new center I’m sure to a lesser degree he may have indirectly spoken for him.
Nelly on ESPN First Take said everything I've been saying about Kobe, Dwight Howard, & the Lakers for a minute except he had inside info…
