Howdy folks, it has been a while since I uploaded a new track. I was super inspired by Just Blaze’s flip of MJ’s – Human Nature. I wanted to give it another shot. I flipped it previously for my TBG Vs MJ Remix Suite a few years back. Let me know what you all think.

Waaaaay more to sista Nina Simone than the Kanye West “Blood On The Leaves†sample; and it looks like NetFlix is going to let us in on the rest of the story. Check out the trailer for the documentary profile of the prolific pioneer artist/activist entitled “What Happened, Miss Simone?” The documentary (due out June 26, 2015) will include comments from her daughter and others close to her, along with rare recordings and footage.

LAKIM – “I’m Rick James B!tch”

Every day people make remixes to classic and not so classic tracks. Â Sometimes the track sounds the same other times completely different. Â With that said sometimes producers are able to take just a little bit of the original track and make it their own while holding to true to what the artists created in the beginning. Â Well LAKIM has done just that with his latest remix track titled “Im Rick James Bitch” where he flips the Rick James classic “Super Freak”. Â I mean he adds some drums and a different baseline and it is a head nodder from start to finish. Â The only problem is it is too short only lasting for under two minutes.

It’s not every day a relatively new artist can successfully execute a remake of a classic song. Stacy Barthe is not your everyday singer & songwriter so I knew she would kill this cover of one of Anita Baker’s signature records. I’m definitely a fan of Stacy Barthe’s music so it’s a dope surprise she has more amazing work coming with her first official major release. The Brooklyn Puerto Rock & 1/4 of the SlaughterHouse gang, Joell Ortiz, links up with the Heatmakerz production team to give his take on the popular ‘Stay With Me’ record by London singer & songwriter Sam Smith. It appears Joell Ortiz has been knocking out a gang of remixes from popular Top 40 records as of late which could just be the setup for his upcoming Yaowa Nation EP. (Side Note: As an Oakland Raiders fan I really wish everyone would stop using the term “Nation”….There’s only 1 Nation & that’s the #RaiderNation). But we don’t want Joell Ortiz to stop giving us that heat though. YAOWAAA!
