Jordan Rakei – “Talk To Meâ€

They’ll be tagged on the post for their hard work; but don’t sleep on the one who did vocals, Rhodes, piano, acoustic guitar…Rakei. Get jazzy with it today with Rakei – “Talk To Me.â€

The Hamiltones – “Respeck” (Video)
Anthony Hamilton’s homies bring some soul to the Baby put-some-Respeck-on-it situation. They took some lines from the Cash Money mogul’s quick and heated rant on the Power 105 morning show days ago; and went ham with it! Soul… ham… check out this ‘soul food’ right here… with “Respeck.”
Keith Sweat – “Good Love” (Video)
When you bite your bottom lip, baby… it’s just telling me, girl… that I’m doing that thing that you like.
– Keith Sweat

And he still knows how to get it across – that “Good Love” groove flowing out your speakers like that smell good fragrance worn by your baby love. The visuals are hot. Watch it one time, get those ‘ideas’ in your head, then get a lover a watch it again!

RIP Prince
BREAKING: Publicist: Pop music superstar Prince has died at his home in suburban Minneapolis.
— The Associated Press (@AP) April 21, 2016
The Rock Soul R&B Funk Pop music world was rocked to its mantle and core today as news of the passing of a legend spread: The Purple Rocker, Prince, suddenly left this earthly plane today. Details are still being revealed, and we certainly need the time to process the information and our feelings; but we have the gist. We know, sadly, the mourning can begin.
Only now can we truly know what it will be like to hear ‘that’ Prince song/album/collection, knowing that he is no longer with us. At least with Prince… He knew… he HAD to know… that he was and will forever be loved & admired by millions; and acclaimed at every strata of the industry – casual listener to sternest critic. Hit the jump to see sentiments to that effect expressed across the Interwebs honoring and bidding farewell to the 57-year-old Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame performer.
Prince Rogers Nelson of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Born to make music, make a ruckus, and make history. What a life! You did that and lived that, Sire. Thank you blessing and bringing us along all these years. And now Your Royal Badness, rest in peace.
BJ The Chicago Kid – “OMG” feat. Jay Rock / “Woman’s World” (Video)
Get you some of this gritty, greasy, grimy BJ The Chicago Kid double-up vid. The whole shebangabang is called “A Day In My Mind”… all in celebration/promotion of his “In My Mind” project (out now). Jay Rock goes hard in the paint in this one-two (ballin’ azz combo, get it? Keep up)!
Mélat – “Twenty Ten” (Prod. By Pha The Phenom) [Video]
Always found it interesting that Mélat oozed sexy onto tracks without really really really leaning on obvious visual appeal. Trust that even when we found it, we had to work it a bit; tease more sensuality out, so to speak. Even here with this visual, it’s more the track being sexy than she is.
(It’s alright though. The ‘work’ is a labor of love.)
I lost all sense of time the summer of twenty ten.
That’s the year I really met him.
It was unlike anything I had ever felt.
Surreal.
It just didn’t feel like real life…
Dude, whoever you are, hope you didn’t blow it back in “Twenty Ten” (produced by Pha The Phenom).

Syl Johnson: Any Way The Wind Blows (Trailer)
Pioneer soul singer Syl Johnson left the music business in the 1980s to open a Chicago fried-fish chain; having struggled with all but no acclaim fro decades. That does not mean he was totally forgotten though; just underappreciated. Heads have likely heard (knowingly or not) samples from his “Different Strokes” (from 1967) in the works of Run-DMC, NWA, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan, Beastie Boys… well, you get it. Talk about ‘unsung.’ This documentary will spotlight an artist to whom it was denied for far too long.
Check out the official trailer above.

Much beloved and often misunderstood, the story of Americaʼs most overlooked musical genius is finally brought to light in “The Amazing Nina Simone.â€
– AmazingNina.com
We know the musical pedigree; proven worldwide. But perhaps as under-appreciated for the longest is Nina’s civil rights struggles. This film also promises to cover her journey from the segregated South, navigating through the twists and turns of the 1960’s fight for racial equality throughout her career. Viewers get to learn a lot about Nina’s artistry and intentions, her fav songs, her bold style, controversial statements, and the reason she ultimately ended up leaving America. “The Amazing Nina Simone” is due out in theaters October 16, 2015.
Miguel Gives A Mini-Concert To Raise Awareness And Help Poor Working Class Families (Video)

Grammy Winner D’Angelo Talks With Tavis Smiley About “Black Messiah” And More (Video)
Come to think of it: Was there ‘Neo-Soul’Â music before D’Angelo? Not much, if any. He was a founding father of the genre, so to speak. From the son of a Baptist preacher, heavily influenced by church music, to making that funky stuff that grew from steeping in all that Stevie Wonder, George Clinton, James Brown, and Prince growing up. Then he got ‘extra-grown’ for the ladies with that “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” song and video. That earned him a Grammy (Best Male R&B Vocal Performance).
And then…nothing…for like over 10 years.
Now D’Angelo is back with his latest project, “Black Messiah.” And here he is talking to Tavis about it and more. Hey, it took two episodes to convey the convo. Keep watching after the jump.
