Popcaan – “Everything Nice” (Video)
Another good video from Popcaan for his Mixpak single release. Now when we say good, I really mean the camera work and process of a video as it compliments the tone of the song. Very few times in the ‘entertainment’ industry does the hype match the content and this time the lack of excitement was the correct way to highlight this song… #Salute
The Dividends – “Fool’s Gold” feat. Raekwon
The Dividends (singer Sarah Jaffe + producer S1) recruited Raekwon for some Wu spice on a reggae-bouncy single off their upcoming EP “Far From Away” (due out 2014). The infusion of a raw rapper can switch the flavor of a track in an instant… mellow, and then BOW! Smooth with the roughness to finish. But this “Fool’s Gold” good stuff nonetheless.
DJ Rasta Root & Jah Prince Spin At The Last ‘Faceoff Fridays’ Of 2013 (Event)

Check out what goes down at ‘Faceoff Fridays’ above. That was October (and yes, that’s Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest rocking the mic)… imagine what’ll go down tonight. In fact, don’t. Come through and experience it live with your host Goldie!

Politics: Saudi Artist & Activist ‘Hisham Fageeh’ Channels Bob Marley With His Viral Internet Hit “No Woman, No Drive” (Video)
Interesting. To be certain, this women’s rights issue-driven video could have been delivered with a more serious tone; but 26-year-old Saudi comedian/activist Hisham Fageeh likely ‘toned down’ his Bob Marley-inspired song “No Woman, No Drive” – as to be too fiery would put the performer, and any involved with the vid’s production/distribution, under fire.
I like that this points out injustice, then pokes a stick at it… in sort of a fun way, but even that is done with substantial socio-political risk. On another note, Fageeh’s pretty good for someone who “doesn’t really listen to music.” Dude definitely getting his Bobby McFerrin on (e.g. with the ‘body music’ with a message). Wonder if there will be any ‘response videos’ from pro-conservatives of Saudi?
By the way, you can buy the track (name your price)…

Classic Clips: Rare Throwback Footage of DMX & Elephant Man Performing In Jamaica (Video)
DMX going in at Fully Loaded in Jamaica back in 1998. While filming for the movie “Belly” he dropped in to do a little something at the island’s annual party. Elephant Man (performing as part of Scare Dem Crew) was there, too. Classic stuff.
R&B: Estelle – “Be In Love” feat. Jeremih
As a fan of reggae/dancehall & dub music I can really appreciate when good singers get together over this type of island breezy production. British singer Estelle enlists fellow R&B singer Jeremih to get down with her on this “Be In Love” track from her upcoming “Love & Happiness: Vol. 2 Waiting To Exhale” EP that will be released on her own label imprint New London Records. I’m feeling the latest push by a number of true R&B/Soul singers taking chances with more island style production in their music.
Reggae/Dancehall: Wayne Marshall – “I Know” (Video)
Currently in the Jamaican government there is legislation to limit and/or halt outdoor dances due to ‘noise’. Well for all those who love the atmosphere and vibes OUTSIDE of a club, check this new video from Dancehall artist Wayne Marshall. This is the first single off his upcoming album Tru Colors. Salute Vibe Magazine and our friends at Ghetto Youths International. Directed by Jay Will.

Say Grace For The Pum Pum (Video)
ANOTHER hilarious video from Roger B, ‘A Cunnilingus Prayer’ covers healthy behavior of adults and how men need additional protection from the most high! Eating aka nyam-ing and the stigma facing Caribbean men/women is still a personal choice and this just adds to the jokes DJ, selectors and bloggers will chat-bout for the rest of the summer, however could this become the norm?
