Classic Clips: Bob Marley Interview In Atlanta December 1979 (Video)
Back in 1979 Bob Marley was in Atlanta for a show at the iconic Fox Theatre on Peachtree Street. Gary Anderson ( Yeah…I don’t know who he is either) is stiff as hell in this interview. Most likely because he couldn’t understand a word Bob was saying. Haaahaa! It’s still a classic clip in Atlanta history & Bob Marley continues to drop some knowledge for the people. In the second segment of the interview, the interviewer didn’t really overstand when Bob Marley said he wasn’t trying to reach strange people, but reach OUR people. It wasn’t anything coded or meant solely for black people. OUR people means anyone who is on the same path of righteousness regardless of race. At the end of the segment the interviewer shakes Bob Marley’s hand & then wipes his hand like George Bush meeting Haitian earthquake victims. Check out part 2 under the hood…..

Nas x Damian Marley – ‘Land Of Promise’ feat. Dennis Brown (Video)
Man I’m glad Nas & Damian Marley are dropping videos to some of my favorite songs from their Distant Relatives album. They are showing artists how you work an album for about a year or more simply by dropping a new video for each track in a well spaced time period throughout the year.

The History Of Reggae Music In The UK Documentary (Video)
Check out this great documentary from the BBC about the history of reggae music as it immediately captured the hearts of fans in the UK from the 60’s to present day. British bands & artists of every genre from rock, pop, soul, & others were influenced by the reggae music that came from Jamaica & it was evident in the sounds that these bands were producing. The documentary is about an hour & a half long, but very interesting and educational if you are a fan of musical history like us.
REWIND: King Driis aka Idris Elba – ‘Hold On’ (prod by 9th Wonder)
This joint literally dropped on the web about one year ago this week. After posting the Pharoahe Monch video featuring Idris Elba I just felt the urge to post this joint. JAYFORCE.COM wasn’t in existence a year ago so it’s only right to post this in case many of you have missed it. Before actor Idris Elba’s acting career jumped off he mostly paid his bills by DJing parties. In this particular song produced by 9th Wonder, Idris Elba steps in the role of an reggae influenced emcee by the name of King Driis. I enjoyed this joint when I first heard it & I still do so cop the REWIND Selektah!!!

Buju Banton Found Guilty On Federal Cocaine Charges In Florida
Buju Banton was found guilty of cocaine charges yesterday in a Tampa courtroom. Â Like sunshine & rain the popular reggae star had just won a Grammy award a little over a week ago for his ‘Behind The Dawn’ album, but the bad news came down yesterday with him facing 15 years to life imprisonment. Â A 12 member jury found him guilty on 3 counts including conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute. Â This will be a huge blow to the reggae music community because just like hip hop has been at a serious crossroads as an artform so has reggae & dancehall. Â Buju, who’s real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, expressed in court proceedings that he was setup by a man who turned out to be a government informant he met on a plane by the name of Alexander Johnson. Â According to reports the informant allegedly netted $50,000 for helping lure Buju into federal custody & has made over $3 Million dollars as a paid informant for over 14 years. Â What possibly sealed Buju’s conviction was they had him on videotape tasting the cocaine in a warehouse. Â Overall its a very unfortunate situation not only for Buju, but for his 15 children, extended family members, fans, & supporters. Read the full associated press report HERE.

Nas & Damian Marley – ‘Patience’ (Video)
Nas & Damian Marley drop a new video to one of my favorite songs off of their ‘Distant Relatives’ album. The visuals look like they could have hired the same director Kanye used for his ‘Power’ video because of the style similarities.
Stephen Marley – ‘No Cigarette Smoke’ (In My Room) feat. Melanie Fiona
Now this is some really good music right here that has me about to purchase a ticket to the islands after all this wintery weather. Stephen Marley drops this new joint featuring Melanie Fiona called ‘No Cigarette Smoke’ in anticipation of his upcoming project ‘Revelation Part 1: The Root Of Life’ due March 22nd. The sophomore album is rumored to feature Mos Def, Ben Harper, & Sizzla Kalonji among a host of other collaborators without diluting the reggae heavy sound. The album sounds like it’s shaping up well in terms of quality songs especially since I’ve still been playing the ‘Jah Army’ track alot that dropped earlier this year with his brother Damian. This particular song with Melanie Fiona has been on regular rotation for me on a personal level since I got it. The title applies to a few of my rules regarding my personal space & many of my friends can attest that I’d rather have Ganja smoke in my clothes than some nasty ass cigarette smoke. Rewind Selectah

Reggae/Dancehall Classic: Buju Banton – Driver A (Video)
Had my iphone on shuffle for a while yesterday & it landed on this classic from Buju Banton. Figured I’d post the video up on the blog today because it’s just what I was feeling for today. Allow me to take it back for a minute to one of my favorite Buju tracks….
