Wale – “The Girls On Drugs” (Video)
Wale’s latest single ‘Girls On Drugs’, off of his latest project ‘The Album About Nothing’, is a joint that I’ve been digging lately. A part of it has to do with the creative use of the sampled hook on Janet Jackson’s hit record ‘Go Deep’ from her 1997 album “Velvet Rope” . Another great aspect of Wale’s song is the cautionary tale about women who get too caught up into the party lifestyle. Overall the song just sounds good & the video has a great message. Check out the video above & for those who want to flashback almost 20 years we’ve posted Janet’s classic video & song after the jump below.

Damn straight. Proceed.

GoldLink – “Sober Thoughts” (Video)
You might not have seen his face but you definitely heard his voice when it comes to the artist Goldlink.  The DMV based emcee has continued to make waves and is doing shows and festivals now.  He has released a video for one of my favorite tracks from him, “Sober Thoughts”, a Kaytranada produced song.  Directed by Shomi Patwary who does a great job of capturing the essence of this track with the low lights and sporadic imagery.
R&B/Alternative: SBTRKT – “Relics” feat. Tev’n
UK’s SBTRKT (aka Aaron Jerome) has some progressive R&B for heads over here in the States. It’s “Relics†(featuring Tev’n). Truthfully, checking the Interwebs for understanding of SBTRKT … well, see if y’all can make sense of it at www.SBTRKT.com. The music is kinda fly though.
Vivian Green – “Get Right Back To My Baby” (Prod. By Kwamé) [Video]
Yep, you heard this one before. Like ’round last summer. But promise yourself that you will (1) watch this video breathe new life into the instant classic produced by Kwamé and (2) remember that we’re running this at the noon hour – Eye Candy time! Whew, even in her ‘plain Jane’ style mode, Vivian Green got the goods. But… if Viv is gonna act all ‘taken’ in this one… one of the dancers will do. Haaa! Very nice work ladies. Enjoy this “Get Right Back To My Baby” nooner.
R&B/Soul: PHONY PPL – “Baby, Meet My Lover” (Video)
So nice. SO very nice. Loaded with treats for the eyes and ears. And that’s the real ish from PHONY PPL. Set like a video model open call, the crew gets a lot of lovely ladies to fall through. The visual concept seems to take on a life of its own from that. Smooth fun. Oh, and the project “Yesterday’s Tomorrow” is out now (linked here)

R&B/Soul: Jesse Boykins III – “Our Tonight is Mine” (Video)
A lot of R&B these days is non quality. Â I like my R&B singers to not sound like rappers and Jesse Boykins III is still making good R&B. Â The thing is you can have sensual lyrics without telling a lady “Pull your panties to the side & Drop it to the floor” , what you mostly hear on the radio these days. Well the track “Our Tonight is Mine” off Jesse’s Love Apparatus album talks to the ladies in a subtle but sexy way. Â The video features Jesse Boykins and Swedish model Amanda Looma while all of this takes place in the car in a parking garage. Â I know Jesse is happy with the director because he gets to kiss and feel on a hot swedish model while singing to her. Â Wait a minute just checked the credits video Written & Directed by Jesse Boykins III (Well played Jesse, well played) Parking Lot Loving!

Adina Howard Documentary (Trailer)
Wowwww. Yeah, the young’ns have their twerking now… but they get nowhere near as hot as Adina Howard got ’em when she was really doing it. EVERYTHING was hotter in the Golden Era. Even the sexy songs. Now, we have a documentary to take us all there and back.
“Adina Howard 20: A Story of Sexual Liberation†shares Adina’s story through her own words as well as the impact that she made during the 1990s and thereafter through the thoughts of fellow entertainers, educators, feminists, family and fans.
The film gives an intellectual look into the inside of the highs and lows of the life a platinum selling artist, whose work has made a lasting impact despite the polarizing feelings towards her.
Adina speaks on her relationship with Tupac Shakur, the banning of her music video from BET, landing a cameo role in the movie “Waiting to Exhale,†her encounter with legendary vocalist Nancy Wilson, working with Hollywood giants Jackie Chan and Jamie Foxx and the sudden halt to her stardom due to her comments about record exec Sylvia Rhone.
Watch the extended trailer above. Looks very interesting.
Kanye West feat. Paul McCartney – “Only One” (Video)
Kanye West is the greatest hip hop artist of this generation & he consistently proves it. A keen attention to detail, socially relevant commentary within his music, an a willingness to take risks. Check out this latest video called ‘Only One’ featuring Sir Paul McCartney which is dedicated to Kanye’s beautiful daughter ‘Nori’. I don’t usually get caught up into celebrity babies & crap like that, but Kanye & Kim Kardashian most definitely have the cutest kid amongst new celebrity parents. As a fan of Kanye West the artist, I’m definitely looking forward to what he hits us with next.
