The world famous DJ Jazzy Jeff returns with episode 9 of his Vinyl Destination series. In this segment Jazzy Jeff & his crew are embarking on the last week of their world tour but this leg finds them in Europe hitting up Norway, Sweden, Ireland, & Germany where they just so happen to also bump into R&B singer Estelle. A few other hilarious situations occur when DJ Jazzy Jeff’s emcee Skillz speaks of a wild fan who have Ruff Ryders tattoo next to his pubic hairs while another fan sports a rainbow-colored Wu-Tang Clan logo on his chest. Not to mention the team discovering some random dude in their hotel lobby watching gay porn in public view. This is truly different in Europe indeed….

Alternative: My Midnight Heart – “Solace” (B! Refix)
Puerto Rican/American songwriter Angélica Allen has been compared to the likes of Kate Bush and Bjork; and the group she helped start – My Midnight Heart – continues to make moves that put its and her career on par with such greats of alternative pop culture. Latest example of a big marketing move: The “Solace” remix contest. It is drumming up a participant fan base of producers (who have fans of their own) whose appetites will be whet for the first official release from My Midnight Heart, a forthcoming four-track EP entitled “Chest of Hearts.” The winning remix contest submission earns its producer $2,000 and a Converse Rubber Tracks feature. That’s some motivation right there!
This “Solace” remix contest submission is from Oakland producer B! I kinda like it. I think you will, too. Catch other submissions at mymidnightheart.com. Learn more about My Midnight Heart at the group’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/MyMidnightHeart.

Flashback 1990: The Gangstarr Video Press Kit (Video)
1990 was my first first year in radio when I was doing a hip hop show called ‘Strictly Hip Hop’ in Pennsylvania. I had also started a cable access show of the same name later that year & it wasn’t uncommon to receive dozens of new records & videos in the mail every week. Back then most of the videos we would receive from the record labels & indie promoters would arrive in the form of 3/4 inch tapes or on VHS. I need to get on my job like Tampa Bay area DJ Sandman who digitized one of Gangstarr’s old video press kits from back in the day. I know I have this same video on VHS somewhere in storage. I’m literally kicking myself to get on it because I do need to take the time to digitize many of my old shows & interviews from the 90s. In the meantime check out the video of GURU & DJ Premier’s video press kit. Rest in peace GURU! On another note….I’m definitely feeling how DJ Premier is rocking my favorite NFL team’s baseball cap. #RAIDERNATION BABY!
“This was a VHS Promo sent out by Chrysalis Records at the time the legendary Hip Hop group, Gang Starr was getting ready to release their 2nd album, “Step In The Arena” (Released 1/15/91) This video tape has been sitting in a box in my studio for years..I’ve always wanted to share it with Hip Hop fans who may have never had a chance to see it. It includes rare footage of Dj Premier & Guru in the studio working on their album and also a rare interview.” – DJ Sandman

‘Rhythm Roulette’ With 88-Keys (Video)
Anybody can make a dope beat from digging in the crates, right? Hahahaaa…No! Now imagine if you are digging blindfolded. In effect, you’re not even consciously choosing the records to make that ‘dope beat’… Them’s the rules of Rhythm Roulette!
‘In the second installment of Rhythm Roulette we linked up with Grammy award-winning producer 88-Keys. From a Steve Martin standup record with no music to a hardcore noise metal record, 88 wasn’t given much to work with but stuck with the challenge.’

Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) Brings Out Kanye West At His Show In Paris (Video)
I’m doing better but I’m still trying to get used to Mos Def’s official name change to Yasiin Bey. Often when I bump into people on the street anywhere in the world & we bring him up I find people still haven’t made the connection yet as well. Once they do make that connection then they already know that Yasiin Bey will represent on stage no matter where he is on the planet. Check out this recent footage spotted at HHNM of the mighty Yasiin Bey rocking in Paris with Robert Glasper & as a special treat he brings out Kanye West. Seems like it was a dope night in Paahh’reee……
