I’m doing better but I’m still trying to get used to Mos Def’s official name change to Yasiin Bey. Often when I bump into people on the street anywhere in the world & we bring him up I find people still haven’t made the connection yet as well. Once they do make that connection then they already know that Yasiin Bey will represent on stage no matter where he is on the planet. Check out this recent footage spotted at HHNM of the mighty Yasiin Bey rocking in Paris with Robert Glasper & as a special treat he brings out Kanye West. Seems like it was a dope night in Paahh’reee……

About 18 years ago to this very day, March 19th, the Notorious B.I.G. rocked on stage live in London with Puff Daddy by his side. It was the launch party for radio personality Tim Westwood on London’s Radio 1 at the Palais that took place March 19th 1995. I love it when these never-seen-before videos are eventually digitized & later pop up on the web.

Kendrick Lamar Performs on ESPN’s SportsNation (Video)

I was watching ESPN’s SportsNation hosted by Marcellus “DatDude” Wiley and Charissa Thompson as it aired live yesterday & their guests were 49ers starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick & Kendrick Lamar for SportsNation’s Madden Cover Vote kickoff special. When Kendrick was first introduced the music started to cue up for hit popular song “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” I chuckled because I knew there was no way in hell ESPN would allow him to get away with that so of course he did the self-edits & segued into “Girl Don’t Kill My Vibe”. Fortunately for Kendrick the audience didn’t sing the REAL chorus to the song which would have drove ESPN’s censors mad. Kendrick also performed his hit record ‘Poetic Justice’ for the SportsNation audience as well so check out both videos above & below….

Vinyl Destination | Episode V: DJ Jazzy Jeff Gets Lost In Asia (Video)

The World Famous DJ Jazzy Jeff finishes up his Asian tour with his crew after hitting various cities in Thailand & finishing up in Tokyo. There was a short scare for everyone when the world famous DJ played a game of ‘Where’s Waldo?’ after he went missing almost before showtime in Japan. Not sure if it’s a joke or not, but in a rather ironic twist of things the cameras catch DJ Jazzy Jeff in a record store with an image of someone else impersonating DJ Jazzy Jeff & selling his mixes in Japan.

Flashback June 1985: 17-Year-Old LL Cool J Performing In Maine (Video)

Spotted this video of LL Cool J & his DJ Cut Creator performing at Colby College in Waterville, Maine at the age of 17. LL Cool J was about to release his Def Jam debut & soon-to-be classic “Radio” album later that year & this performance could have been a possible promo tour he was on back then. Back in the early 80s hip hop was still expanding commercially so I’m not surprised at the crowd’s modest reaction in Maine at the young upstart who may have been unknown to most of the audience. Some may say hip hop in 1985 was largely popular in cities like NY, Philly, L.A., & Chicago as it was still expanding throughout the country to smaller towns like Waterville Maine. I love vintage video clips like these. Shout out to PHMB & Kodiak Star who uploaded this rare vintage video with this message….
