Well, the United States basketballers beat New Zealand handily in their bid to win the FIBA World Cup. But New Zealand won the crowd, and the moment, with its pre-game war chant, the Haka. Several of the American athletes looked on with wonder and amazement at the spectacle. Great clip!

Reunited: Wu-Tang Appears On ‘The Daily Show’ With Jon Stewart And Performs “Ron O’Neal” (Video)
Ha! Here’s the vid. Wu-Tang was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart the other night to talk up their re-union in front of the hometown crowd; and to do a performance of their new single “Ron O’Neal.” Decent. They took the on-air broadcast home with a performance of “Triumph.” See the performance clips after the jump. Start with the interview above.

ESPN Highlights: Drake Hosts The 2014 ESPYs (Video)
Hey, Stuart Scott’s award acceptance was definitely the most beautiful moment of the night of the ESPYs. But like it or love it, Drake, as host, hit all the marks (and “Side Pieces” … hilarious) and kept the show lively and moving.
That ‘Lance blow’ though… (a W-T-F moment to be certain)! Enjoy the clip above, with lots after the jump. If you have half as much fun as Drake seemed to be having, you’ll be doing good.

eLZhi – The Backroom Freestyle (Video)
Man! Been waiting on some new stuff from one of Detroit’s illest lyricists, eLZhi. BET got him in the booth (above) to bless The Backroom at 106 & Park. And bless he did. Just dropped hotness for a minute and a bit on the mic. Easy work baby. Easy! Watch and see.
Kanye West – Live At The Wireless Festival 2014 (Video)
Turns out they did celebrate on the 4th of July in the UK this year… likely due to Kanye West being over there to rock at Finsbury Park, London. Some older and current jawns brought to the mass of worshippers gathered to watch Yeezus deliver his litany of hits at this year’s Wireless Festival. Nowadays, with all the mobile and camera tech folks bring, isn’t every festival ‘wireless’ (just saying)?
Bigger question: What was going on with the girl in the red dress near the beginning (above)? Did she pass out or something? Incredible show, and that was just the beginning. More crowd’s eye view footage after the jump.
Tiny Desk Concert: NPR Presents The Foreign Exchange (Video)
Gotta love The Foreign Exchange (Phonte, Nicolay, Zo!). Even more so in concert. Even more so at a concert in an intimate space… like they do on NPR‘s Tiny Desk Concert. Click play above and get soul-clap (or ‘church clap’ hahaa) going. Nice!
DJ Jazzy Jeff And Questlove (of The Roots) Remix The ‘Super Mario Brothers’ Theme (Video)
You gotta be kidding! The Super Mario Brothers theme? They flipped it like that? This would be a shutdown performance at any show… To the enjoyment and amazement of the ‘Welcome America’ crowd gathered in Philly this year, Questlove and Jeff put together an epic ‘battle beat’ submission.
Philly’s own DJ Jazzy Jeff Master DJ takes on Jeremy Ellis in a Super Mario Brothers Beat duel at Philadelphia’s Welcome America Jam 7/4/14 Questlove on the drums
The Boiler Room: The 45 King Outtakes (Video)
A real DJ applauds the work of others. In case you’re not knowing, DJ Mark The 45 King is worthy of a standing ovation…whether you are a DJ or not. It should be enough of a cue that this is recommended viewing, per tweet from the DJ Premier.

Snoop Dogg x Doug E. Fresh – “Lodi Dodi” (Live at The Roots Picnic) [Video]
At the 7th Annual Roots Picnic, Snoop and Doug E. Fresh do the damn thing on their rendition of Doug E. and Slick Rick’s “Lodi Dodi” live. Now, Snoop Dogg had a slow-flow styled version on his debut LP “Doggystyle.” But with Fresh dropping beat box heat live… you KNOW Snoop had to hold down his end with more of an homage to Rick The Ruler. Respect! Great performance.
(Catch a recap of the 2014 Roots Picnic after the jump.)
Sir Mix-A-Lot – “Baby Got Back” featuring The Seattle Symphony Orchestra (Video)
No way. No fu**ing way! Sir Mix-A-Lot is a favorite son of Seattle’s Hip-Hop community…but of Seattle Symphony music lovers? Apparently, yes; as throngs of thick volunteer dancers joined him on stage for a pretty hype rendition of the party jam “Baby Got Back” (gotta link the original here for comparison and to relive memories).
“My conductor is like, “Oh my God!”
– Sir Mix-A-Lot
Enjoy that above. And bonus, after the jump, Mix-A-Lot and the Symphony did “Posse On Broadway” (see original video here).
Education: Jim Carrey Delivers an Enlightening Commencement Address at the 2014 MUM Graduation (Video)
“Fear is going to be a player in life, but you get to decide how much. So many of us choose our path out of fear disguised as practicality. What we really want seems impossibly out of reach and ridiculous to expect, so we never dare to ask the universe for it.”
– Jim Carrey
Hilarious… easily slipping into profound… in his Maharishi University of Management (http://www.mum.edu) graduation speech to 285 students representing 54 countries. Initially found a writeup and clip on it at Today.com. Jim Carrey gave his commencement address to Maharishi University of Management’s class of 2014. The University Board of Trustees also presented Carrey with the honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts Honoris Causa, in recognition of his significant lifetime achievements as a world-renowned comedian and actor, artist, author and philanthropist.
Watch the full video (the above quote comes in at the 10-minute mark). I’m betting you will be impressed and entertained by Carrey’s talk. I was. LOTS of gems of wisdom dropped in this!
