Charlie Musselwhite & Nas Speak On The Music Of The 1920s And Of Today (Teaser Trailer)
They were rapping about street life and gangsta life…
Nas, Speaking On “On the Road Again†By Memphis Jug Band
A great look for PBS, this episode of “American Epic Sessions” features Charlie Musselwhite (of Memphis Jug Band) and Nas. That line from Greg Nice comes to mind: This is how we take the old to the new. Hear Nas speak on the timelessness and relevance of Musselwhite’s music. And see a bit of the performance of Nas’ cover of “On the Road Againâ€
(Hip-Hop flavor from the 1920s. Cool!)
Nick Grant – “Funky Enough Freestyle” (Video)
SNAPPIN’!!
South Carolina stand up! Nick Grant spit fire for LA Leakers in this clip. This freestyle damn sure is “Funky Enough” (flowing over The D.O.C. classic beat)!
(YOOOOO! Dude said he’s going NUTS… George Carver n*gga!)
‘5 Minutes Of Funk’ With DJ Diamond (Video)
DJ Diamond did the damn thang on this ep. of #5MinutesOfFunk though yo. Nothing not to love about it when Funkmaster Flex goes back to the elements. The emcees doing the Freestyles… and now, Turntable Tuesday.
Know that saying, “Time flies” right? Well, it is especially true when a DJ is having fun blacking out on the wheels… like how 5 Minutes becomes 12 Minutes Of Funk. Haaaa! Good stuff!
Hasan Minhaj (Of The Daily Show) Gives An Roast Epic Speech At The White House Correspondents’ Dinner (Video)
Ohhhhhh shhhheeeeeeeiiiit! I wanted to categorize this as comedy, but this is more. This is even more biting than mere satire; plenty of BITE. Don Rickles (RIP) level roasting of an entire room AND of The President… you know, at the WHITE HOUSE Correspondents’ event that they have EVERY year.
Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj took full advantage of Donald Trump’s absence by taking aim at The President and his administration during his monologue at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.
– Global News
I’m sure it was on his calendar. But hell, I cannot blame him. Some of this sh!t BURNED, but it seems like everyone took it in stride. And I do mean everyone, because ‘The Daily Show’ Correspondent Hasan Minhaj gave a taste to EVERYONE: Not just the POTUS, but key officials in his Administration, with shots for Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, even C-SPAN (who broadcasts the event annually)!
You HAVE to watch, but strap up and sack up. Hasan is hella funny, but his speech hits hella HARD! Whew.

Nas x The Soul Rebels – “Hate Me Now” (Live Performance) [Video]
So… you don’t have to travel all the way to the Down Under for that special underground feel. But doesn’t it sound like that’s where some crazy dopeness should jump off all the time? Well, agree or agree to disagree, it did a week or so ago. Nas did “Hate Me Now” on stage (classic, that good gas)… with The Soul Rebels backing him (that high-performance premium unleaded)! Check the footage from Byron Bay Bluesfest, Australia.
Rodney King (Netflix Trailer)
Spike Lee with another Joint. Can you believe it has been 25 years since the uprising over the “Rodney King” verdict (that exonerated the LAPD cops that beat the F**K out of him)? Given recent events, you likely think:Â ‘Damn. It has been 25 years since we thought the police beatdowns should have been over… and they STILL aren’t over.’ Watch this trailer and get ready for another hot-blooded summer, courtesy of Netflix and Spike Lee.
His story shook the world and lit LA on fire. Now it comes to life in a powerful one-man show.
Compelling presentation & performance by Roger Guenveur Smith.
Dave Chappelle And John Mayer’s On-Stage Tribute To Charlie Murphy (RIP) [Video]
Wow. Dave Chappelle surprises the crowd at a John Mayer concert and this happens. Yep, the ‘White People Dancing’ tag team from Chappelle Show, Season 2, Episode 3, reunites one more time… and do a tribute for Charlie Murphy (say it like Dave doing ‘Rick James’ b!tch in your head), who the world recently lost after his prolonged battle with lukemia.
Yeah, Dave Chappelle and John Mayer chat, share a couple of chuckles and make a memory for Murphy that they share with the crowd.
#RIPCharlieMurphy
Kxng Crooked – “Come Clean Freestyle” (Video)
While Joey Bada$$ spoke from the heart on Hip-Hop’s old guard holding back the new-new (here), let’s keep it true… Real Hip-Hop cann’t get much more to the core than this! KXNG Crooked doing damage on Jeru The Damaja’s classic instrumental. Barz!!
The Chainsmokers – “Paris” (Live Performance) [Video]
That most recent SNL was pretty good all the way ’round. Found out about a new school cool band, The Chainsmokers. Really liking this song, “Paris.”
Knowing now that they are a DJ duo, I also note something very ‘Hip-Hop adjacent’ about their style… not hollering “appropriation” or anything, just calling it out.
(Plus, did you see how HOT the Honey singing background on the left is. INSANELY gorgeous! Wish someone would tell me who she is. Because WOW!)

Comedy: Louis C.K. Hosts ‘Saturday Night Live’ (Stand-Up Monologue) [Video]
Yes. That’s right. That’s right. That’s appropriate.
You know how every now and then you will see a Louis C.K. post on here? Think that is an accident?
Okay, that was rhetorical. Hell naw it ain’t no accident! Louis C.K. is one of the funniest comedians out today. Point. Blank. Period. FACTS!
I have been watching and laughing for years. Louis is SURGICAL at touching nerves that should be touched while extracting laughter. And his shows are loaded with line-stepping; a feat he performs without fear, and in ways very few comedians can equal.
Exhibit A… THIS! Louis C.K. was the guest on SNL giving the audience the business! Going right in with a chicken, a Black guy, and racism…
Wait what!!!
You gah-damn right you’re gonna watch now… and thoroughly enjoy! Keep in mind, this is just the opening monologue.

Joey Bada$$ – “Land Of The Free” (Live Performance) [Video]
One of the things that could have been a casualty of Stephen Colbert’s move from Comedy Central to big network TV would have been the kinds of artists he booked. Fortunately, we are still getting to see the likes of Joey Bada$$ do their thing on The Late Show on CBS. Dope!
Rapper Joey Bada$$ makes his Late Show debut with a track from his upcoming album ‘All-Amerikkkan Bada$$.’
Comedy: Who Wins When Jimmy Fallon Lip Sync Battles Shaquille O’Neal? (Video)
We all win!
Okay, so you read the title and you think: Shaq used to rap and he was always clowning during NBA All-Star Weekend game intros and hamming it up for the crowds… AND Fallon has done tons of musical fun stuff on his show. Ought to be pretty entertaining. And you’d be absolutely RIGHT!
Jimmy faces off with Shaquille O’Neal, with a surprise appearance by Pitbull, in a hilarious lip sync-off to songs like Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative,” Ariana Grande and John Legend’s “Beauty and the Beast” and House of Pain’s “Jump Around.”
So, surprise: Pitbull! But what most of us probably perpetually underestimate is just how far and fast Jimmy will ‘go there’ to get laughs and wows from the audience. Case in point, this clip. Hahaaaa!
Your Old Droog – “Showoff Radio Freestyle” (Video)
My rhymes ain’t rhymes. They’re life sentences.
wuuuuuuWHAAAT! Barz dammit! Watching Your Old Droog doing this freestyle on Showoff Radio… could have easily re-titled this ‘Why We Fux With Droog: The Video.’ Hell, we just might! Salute Statik Selekt! Wreck ws caught on Shade 45 that night fa’sho.
Joey Badass – “All I Want Is You†(Freestyle) [Video]
IF you got an emcee – a REAL emcee – in your midst, all it takes is a dope beat and an opportunity, and mic magic can happen. How about… that Miguel and J. Cole jawn “All I Want Is You  aaaand Joey Badass?
Yeah. Abracadabra muthaf**kers!
Cyhi The Prynce – “Going For The Crown” (Freestyle) [Video]
Welcome to the Valley Of The HYENAS!! Beware: Beast emcee on the mic!
Cyhi The Prynce takes on the 5 Fingers of Death and spazzes on every beat. It could possibly be the freestyle of the year so far. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
CyHi is destroying the rap game… in the best way! Check out the video above.
Winning Performance: Tank And The Bangas (Video)
Meet New Orleans’ Tank and The Bangas — winner of the 2017 Tiny Desk Contest.
– PBS
Now you know we are all about the PBS ‘Tiny Desk Concert’ series on here. But who knew there was a contest and that a winning group like this would get pulled into the national spotlight?? Easy bet that Tank and The Bangas will be hitting more than a few more stages as more and more folks see what they can do in this clip. Looks like they are having fun and that they can bring the fun to any function. Check ’em out!

Cory Gunz Freestyles On Flex | Freestyle #048 (Video)
Peter Gunz, your son is that one! Cory Gunz grunts through the Wu track intro, then he spun out on it like he left fire on the tires!! Non-stop. Actually the only thing that stopped him was a stumble at the end. But eff that though, that’s how live freestyle flows go. Pretty damn dope. Get ’em Gunz!
Dave Chappelle (Netflix Teaser)
Was up late, as usual, and caught an old rerun of The Chappelle Show. Dave Chappelle is a fool! Remembered that he had something coming up on Netflix. And now… this trailer.
He’s back. And with plenty on his mind. Dave Chappelle returns with two stand-up specials from his personal comedy vault on March 21, only on Netflix.
J.I.D. – “Elevators (Me & You) Freestyle†[Video]
Dreamville. That’s J. Cole’s label. Cole just signed J.I.D. to the label, so he must be good. But… um… let’s check out this freestyle he did on air for DJ Tony Touch’s show on Shade 45… just to be sure.
(Okay yep. Dude is that good. And he’s from Atlanta, so bonus righteous points for going in on the Outkast “Elevators (Me & You)†beat.)
Mysonne – “Welcome To New York City Freestyle” (Video)
Mysonne the NY 5-star GENERAL!! Whew! Dude just turned in one of the dopest freestyles in the series (look at the daaaamn faces on Funk Flex’s mug). #Freestyle046 is over that “Welcome To New York City†beat that Cam’Ron originally blessed.
