The Top 5 Strip Clubs In Atlanta According To Waka Flocka (Video)

His list is very interesting because I’d have to agree with about 90% of what he said except the food part because I rarely order food at strip clubs. I found it funny he put Follies at number one because I find myself in Follies more often than any other spot in the city lately. Me & some friends used to go to Follies alot before most people even really knew about it, but things have changed in 2014.

VICE Names Atlanta The ‘Strip Club Capital Of The World’ In New Mini-Documentary ‘Strip: Atlanta’ (Video)

I have many friends who have worked or are currently employed at strip clubs in Atlanta from bartenders, bouncers, DJs, & dancers.  I’ve traveled all over the world & for as long as I’ve actually lived in Atlanta I’ve always considered this city to be the strip club capital of the world. Even when friends or associates of mine visit, one of their priorities while in Atlanta is to go to a strip club. Most of us who live here are already familiar with strip club culture in Atlanta than any mini-documentary could cover in 30 minutes, but VICE’s London based music journalist Jo Fuertes-Knight tries to do just that. The mini-documentary doesn’t cover any new ground for residents of Atlanta, but they do manage to stop by just a few of the popular spots like Magic City, Diamonds Of Atlanta, Kamal’s 21, & the legendary Clermont Lounge.  Atlanta is truly the strip club capital of the world when I think of all the spots that VICE didn’t cover in this report.  It would have been cool if they had the opportunity to visit other spots around Atlanta as well like Onyx, Stiletto’s, Strokers, Blue Flame, Pin-Ups, Goosebumps, Club Blaze, Follies, Shooter’s Alley, & several others just to name a few. Yes…after just typing this list of spots it’s clear that Atlanta truly is the strip club capital of the world if not for the sheer number of strip clubs per capita around the city.

ESPN First Take: Fabolous Speaks on Seattle rapper Macklemore’s 4 Grammy Award Wins (Video)

I didn’t bother to watch the 56th Annual Grammy Awards last night as I was more inclined to give the NFL’s newly revamped Pro Bowl a chance before I eventually fell asleep on it in the 3rd quarter. When I started my day this morning I saw angry people on social media who were upset about Seattle rapper Macklemore’s 4 Grammy wins last night. Although I was rooting for artists like Kendrick Lamar  who create music that appeals more to me, I wasn’t mad or surprised Macklemore won a few Grammys.  My youngest nieces loved his ‘Thrift Store’ song early on & I noticed that he appealed to more people independently of what was going on in rap music in general. When I watched ESPN First Take this morning, Brooklyn emcee Fabolous shared a similar sentiment when asked his opinion on Macklemore’s Grammy wins. I agree with Macklemore’s post Grammy statements in the media though…..Kendrick SHOULD have won the Grammy for ‘Best Rap Album’, but it is what it is.  More video from Fabolous’s appearance on ESPN’s First Take after the jump….

Swaziland: Gold Mine Of Marijuana (Video)

Smokers are gonna get high on the greenery scenery to start in the video above, but stick around and take in the economic reality that drives grandmas and other good people into this business. It stinks (and not in the good way). People are just making a living the only way they can, by farming the only tax-exempt produce in Swaziland. That ‘tax exempt’ part is a huge loophole favoring growers in the sub-Saharan monarchy’s economy. Everything else is taxed to hell in a land where 2/3 of the population lives below the poverty line. So Swazi weed is not just a means of escape from the day’s humdrum or from the ails of the AIDS epidemic gripping the populace; but probably the only way to any level of prosperity for the citizenry.

Swaziland is a landlocked country sandwiched between South Africa and Mozambique. Despite Swaziland’s small size, it boasts more hectares of land dedicated to growing Cannabis than all of India. It is also home to Swazi Gold, the legendary sativa strain.

Hamilton Morris travels to Swaziland hoping to chemically analyze the cannabinoids present in some of the local strains. Instead, he finds a country steeped in political corruption and economic turmoil. Cannabis is viewed by many growers, users, and politicians as a drug that will cause insanity, but it may be Swaziland’s only hope for economic stability.

VICE: Buttloads Of Pain (Video)

Wow. I know you’ve heard something on this, but now VICE is on this. The real story will be told now. And as you already know, back-alley butt enhancement injections are NOT good. They are bad… dangerous… deadly!

[It] was the transgender community that really pioneered the backroom butt-injection scene in the 1980s and 90s. For a male transitioning to a female at that time, it was a ridiculous notion to think that insurance would foot the bill… [But the] phenomenon of butt pumping has even crept into popular culture. Every time Kim Kardashian or Jennifer Lopez wears a swimsuit, tabloids and gossip websites furiously debate whether their bodacious butts are the result of an intense squat regimen or ass injections. Former stripper and hip-hop model Vanity Wonder, who boasts ample 34-23-45 curves, wrote a book about her addiction to illegal butt shots and the 16-plus times she had her butt pumped up. Nicki Minaj, who is known for her huge rump almost as much as for her platinum-selling albums [even raps about it on her] guest verse on the remix of Big Sean’s ‘Dance (A$$)’: “Kiss my ass and my anus, ’cause it’s finally famous / And it’s finally soft, yeah, it’s finally solved! / I don’t know, man, guess them ass shots wore off!”

– VICE

But WHY would anyone do this? Man, click to play above, watch, and learn. Y’all know we love a thick backside on here, but this illegal back-alley life-threatening sh!t must cease! Getting an ass to die for ain’t worth dying for.

It’s important to point out that there are legal butt-enhancing procedures. The FDA deems both implants and fat transfer—where fat is liposuctioned from areas like the patient’s stomach and transferred to his or her fanny—to be safe when conducted by a board-certified plastic surgeon. However, many women choose the black-market procedure to save money. Legal implants and fat transfers can cost up to $10,000 more than their illicit counterparts.

Animal Activist Kevin Richardson Gets Up Close & Personal With Several Wild Lions in South Africa (Video)

GoPro is some great tech that has captured some incredible feats. And we have put a few GoPro posts on here. But this. UNBELIEVABLE! Not even sure we should post this.

“They’re just so beautiful.”
Kevin Richardson

Of course, the GoPro Productions team stayed in the vehicle. But Kevin (aka ‘The Lion Whisperer’) just had to go out and meet his friends. If you happen to live near the South African (or any) savannah… DO NOT TRY THIS!!

(But if you haven’t already…play this!)

Black & Latino Students In The U.S. Can Attend Medical School In Cuba For Free (Video)

Doctors come out of med school with huge debt to repay. Probably why we “understand” why a trip to the doctor can cost so much in the United States. But wouldn’t it be a boon to making healthcare affordable if doctors could graduate debt-free? Well… somebody’s already doing that… Cuba!

All too often though, we want to vilify those (like Cuba) we are told to treat as the enemy. Remember the uproar over Bey and Jigga’s trip to Cuba (y’all gone learn today…wrote a song ’bout it)? You’dve thought it was the missile crisis all over again. But fortunately, to balance bad-mouthing of some, we have folks who declare that there are at least some things we can appreciate about the neighbor 90 miles south of South Florida (USA). For instance, check out what the Black Left Unity blog hipped us to about another bright spot of Cuba’s medical outreach.

Cuba’s Latin American School of Medicine (LASM). A few years ago member of the USA Congressional Black Caucus visited Cuba and noted the small amount number of doctor available in Black and poor areas in American. When Rep. Bennie Thompson said his Mississippi district needed doctors, then President Fidel Castro announced scholarships for youth from under-served communities in the U.S.

It was later decided that people should apply through IFCO/Pastors for Peace. Currently 146 U.S. students study at LASM with full scholarships, including 16 in the their new class. Forty seven students have now graduated and two are residents in U.S. hospitals now. After the earthquake disaster in Haiti in February of 2010, many of the LASM graduates volunteered to go the serve there.

Currently there are two Detroit (Michigan, USA) students attending LASM on a full scholarship. Contact us at IFCO

And if you don’t know, now you know. So, next time somebody spouts that ‘Communist Cuba the bad guys’ stuff … You hit ’em with the link to this story. Oh, and tell them the US is actually doing some ‘bad medicine’ down that way. Remember the Gitmo force-feeding? But we’ll keep this peace positive. Thanks for the good medicine, Cuba.

Check out more video after the jump, including a great piece from PBS Newshour.

Minister Louis Farrakhan Supports Kanye West’s Socio-Political Comments In The Media (Video)

I’ve gotten into recent debates with people about Kanye West’s statements on entertainers having control of their work & more specifically the Arsenio Hall show analogy he used when he appeared on The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in New York.  People were quick to applaud Arsenio Hall’s response to Kanye West about what the real reason Arsenio’s late night talk show went off the air years ago, but most many have forget that it was Minister Louis Farrakhan who stated multiple times the reason why Arsenio show was threatened. In fact, when Minister Louis Farrakhan appeared on one of the very last episode’s of the Arsenio Hall Show he even said it to Arsenio’s face. Minister Louis Farrakhan also recently expressed his support for Kanye West after he’s been taking heat from various groups in speaking out on a number of issues affecting the black community.  Arsenio made a comment that Kanye West should never used the term ‘Slave’ as an artist, but he never addressed that back in the 90’s when Prince changed his name to ‘The Artist Formerly Known As Prince’ & performed with “Slave” written on his face years ago protesting the same economic issues facing creative artists. Arsenio is largely to blame for Kanye or anyone of us confusing the “facts” because Arsenio never addressed Louis Farrakhan or his fans when he had the opportunity & platform to do so years ago.

Politics/Economics: America Hates Its Poor (Video)

The hard truth about America: We are at war. All of us. It’s internal… and just barely civil. We have already seen an occupation of strategic grounds (Wall Street) and the battle lines have been drawn. But don’t think Democrat/Liberal vs. Republican/Conservative (there are battlefields within parties anyway)… and don’t think (as we have) of haves vs. have-nots… The truth is simple, but not because it is oversimplified. It is hard because it is harsh. It is hard, like difficult – not to understand, but to understand how citizens/humans/institutions could allow this and allow it to continue. And it is hard, because it will be difficult to end the war. To think, all this from reading an article (that you should read, too) at Salon.com…

This is an excerpt from the just released second edition of Noam Chomsky’s “Occupy: Class War, Rebellion and Solidarity,” edited by Greg Ruggiero and published by Zuccotti Park Press.

An article that recently came out in Rolling Stone, titled “Gangster Bankers: Too Big to Jail,” by Matt Taibbi, asserts that the government is afraid to prosecute powerful bankers, such as those running HSBC. Taibbi says that there’s “an arrestable class and an unarrestable class.” What is your view on the current state of class war in the U.S.?

– Salon

So, that’s how we should view the sides in our modern civil war: The arrestable vs. the unarrestable… and you KNOW most of the sh!t the unarrestable (e.g. the 1% and those protected by them) gets away with would land most of us in prison. Now, no one is saying ‘be mad at the haves for having’ … no more so than you want anyone less fortunate being mad at you for walking/driving by when you have change/time to spare. Nah, be mad at how they do you… how they lie to you. You know, the stuff that you’d be mad about if someone did it right to your face… because they DO THAT SH!T… ev-er-y day! Watch the clip above (from a ‘have’ who has chosen to give a Ted Talk on the truth). Read the article we read… Hell, read the book it references (both linked below)… Then take time to think and decide for yourself, while you can; before that comes under attack!

Politics: Matt Damon Says We Need To Stop Being So ‘Obedient’ (Video)

That’s it! Blockbuster movie star and humanitarian Jason Borne Matt Damon is sick and tired of putting up with this political bullsh!t… and he wants you to revolt, too. Actually, Matt has been walking his talk for a long while – tasking satellites to get eyes on tragedies in Darfur when nations (including the U.S.) would not… taking President Obama to task when he was dragging his feet… Of course, Matt isn’t the only one who has called for revolution…

“Our problem is not Civil Disobedience, it is Civil Obedience!”

Matt Damon, quoting Howard Zinn (November 1970)

Politics/Economics: The ‘Haves’ Have A Lot More Than The ‘Have Nots’… Way More Than You Think (Video)

This is INSANE! A short video with so much to say about how wealth is distributed in the U.S. – you know, the country that tells the world “give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses” … so we can ‘huddle’ them some more… and not give them sh!t but plenty of company. What we have a lot of in the U.S. – POOR PEOPLE. Surprisingly, we also have optimism (still) and a belief in fairness. What we don’t have is f**king ECONOMIC FAIRNESS man! Watch this clip; and try not to get mad. Instead get informed, get motivated, and get involved (to help yourself and your people)!

“The poorest Americans don’t even register. They’re down to pocket change. And the middle class is barely distinguishable from the poor.”

Keep checking here on the site. We keep the conversation going and the information flowing…

Sports/Opinion: Charles Barkley Speaks On The Use Of The N-Word (Video)

Interesting. I agree with Charles Barkley (above) & I agree with Michael Wilbon (after the jump). What came up around recent discussion/debate regarding the NFL’s Richie Incognito’s alleged bullying of Miami Dolphin Jonathan Martin has jumped the fence… from the National Football League to commentary from one of the greats of the National Basketball Association… to [once again] a national conversation. Ernie had Shaq chiming in near the end of the clip, too. Watch.

Jon Stewart Calls Out Jay Z Over Maintaining Business Relations With Racist Retailer Barney’s (Video)

Over the controversy that some have called shop-and-frisk, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart points out and pokes at Jigga for selling out by standing by a major business partner of his – Barney’s. The high-end retailer has come under fire by the media and protest groups for apparently subjecting its Black patrons to racial profiling that went so far as to send undercover security into the street – holding up Black purchasers outside the store to verify that their debit cards were “authentic.” Jay Z has a merchandise line set to come out in the store chain… no way he’s going to let a little bad racial press stop him from cashing in on purchases made by Black folk who may get stopped after buying his stuff. Time for a little “perspective”…

“If I make snap judgements, no matter who it’s towards, aren’t I committing the same sin as who it’s towards.”

Jay Z

Well, how about that. I guess you can talk yourself into anything when enough money is on the line. Get him, Jon!

Employee Calls Out McDonald’s President On Poverty Wages (Video)

YEAH! McDonald’s worker Nancy Salgado got ’em so shook they called the cops! Damn shame it has to come to this though.

Great story from NPR’s website. Watch the embedded clip that has gone viral this week, with the help of Fight For 15 – a fast-food workers’ campaign aimed at raising hourly wages to $15. Salgado shouts to Jeff Stratton, president of McDonald’s USA, who was standing at a podium in a ballroom giving a talk:

“It’s really hard for me to feed my two kids and struggle day to day. Do you think this is fair, that I have to be making $8.25 when I have worked for McDonald’s for 10 years?”

Stratton’s response:

“I’ve been there 40 years.”

Wow.

David Banner Speaks On His Movies & Music, And How We Should Really Be ‘Walking With Gods’ (Video)

HipHopSince1987 with an incredible exclusive interview of David Banner. Comedy/Politics: Jon Stewart Blasts GOP Over U.S. Government Shutdown on ‘The Daily Show’ (Video)

The Daily Show With Jon Stewart taking it there – to the heights of satire – addressing the government shutdown, and calling out the House Republicans for doing all they can to scuttle the Affordable Care Act, including forcing a government shutdown. “It’s a f**king law” that all three branches of government have thus far upheld. Then Stewart sacked the the Republicans, scrambling to down President Obama’s hallmark legislative achievement, with THE hardest hit:

“Did you see the Giants game on Sunday? They lost 31-7. Do you know what the Giants didn’t say after that game? ‘If you don’t give us 25 more points by midnight on Monday, we will shut down the f**king NFL.'”

Former U.S. Labor Secretary On Creating A ‘Win-Win’ Economy: Change The Rules (Video)

Robert Reich, U.S. Secretary of Labor during President Bill Clinton’s administration, puts forth a simple premise in his documentary “Inequality for All” (see the trailer after the jump) – our economy should be capitalism checked by the rules of a SENSIBLE democratic society. The above was clipped from his appearance on Moyers & Company (great PBS television) recently. Reich and host Bill Moyers discussed how CRAZY things have gotten… the insanity of economic, political, and day-to-day reality in America… and straight talk on the most direct route out of the madness.

Lord Jamar Of Brand Nubian Speaks On How The Music Industry Is Pushing A Gay Agenda (Video)

‘Rap is gay-friendly. Rap is rich-friendly… There’s a lot of people with money that happen to be homosexual.’

Lord Jamar (of Brand Nubian)

Wow. Suffice it to say, Lord Jamar speaks his mind. He says rap ‘speaks for the haves, where Hip-Hop speaks for the have-nots.’ Above, the emcee speaks VERY deliberately about the difference between ‘rap’ and ‘Hip-Hop’ and about what Hip-Hop is and is not. He also declares who has the right to say what Hip-Hop is and those who do not. Jamar apparently sees rising music star Macklemore as an avatar for what he’d call the gay agenda in rap. Watch the clip as Lord Jamar speaks (plainly) for himself.
