Nice visuals by RRaw Films and DPTV Films for the Joell Ortiz single “Roll Deep” (produced by Statik Selektah) off Funkmaster Flex’s “Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself?” mixtape (which you can get from a link in an earlier post here). Watch for cameos from the NFL’s Victor Cruz (of the New York Giants), Tego Calderon, Lil Fame (of M.O.P.), and others.
Talib Kweli – “The Best of Talib Kweli” (Mixed By Mick) [Mixtape]
Mick (aka Mick Boogie) put together a 29-track project showcasing “The Best of Talib Kweli.” Tracks lifted from a 15-year career with no let up in sight. Check out these tracks Kweli (stream for FREE). As sort of a tease for his album (dropping today), the mix includes some cuts from “Prisoner of Conscious.” Link to the album (via earlier post) included below.

DJ Rasta Root – “4649 Worldwide Hip Hop” (ATL Mix)
Japanese graphic/clothing designer Yumi Sakaki (of 4649 Worldwide Clothing and Graphic Design) and Atlanta producer DJ Rasta Root collaborated on this “4649 Worldwide Hip Hop” (ATL Mix) project.
‘I always felt that my duty as a DJ was to break new music and support artists in my hometown scene. This project was the perfect opportunity to do that. I decided to do a mix with all Atlanta artists that have, in my opinion, been working hard at their craft and deserve to be recognized. This project with 4649 Worldwide has allowed the opportunity to showcase some of Atlanta’s rising stars who I respect as individuals and as artists.’
Fifty minutes of mix. Zero minutes of talk. All FREE! All good.
House Shoes – “The Gift Volume Two: DertBeats”

‘Los Angeles based cat who actually produced an entire album for KRS-ONE a few years back. I have been beating the shit outta his flip of Pink Floyd’s “Money†for like 4-5 years now…’

R&B/Soul: BamaLoveSoul Presents The “Ladies First” (Mixtape)
Much respect to BamaLoveSoul for the crate digging it took to put this “Ladies First” together. Ease back and relax into the grooves of this mix.
‘After much listening and selecting, we bring you a collection of tracks from a handful of ladies who have recently brought a uniqueness of soul to their chosen craft.
Some allow the power in their lilting voices to enhance the lyrics, giving them a striking depth, others eschew flamboyant vocal range in lieu of tighter production and universal feel, while a few opt for bringing both elements together to create a superior overall product. In the end, be it over a heavy produced electronic soundbed, a more traditional Soul/R&B template or with nothing more than a guitar and a microphone, each lady brings their “A Game” and has left us and many others wanting more.’

AraabMUZIK – The Prince Is Coming (Video)
Every since he dropped it I’ve been working out to AraabMUZIK’s instrumental album “For Professional Use Only” being motivated only by the beats. One of my tracks on the project is ‘The Prince Is Coming’ which I mentioned in a previous post felt like I could have listened to this during my trip to Dubai. Upon first listen I knew the instrumental track had a strong cinematic feel so it was a surprise to me that AraabMUZIK decided to drop this brand new Tilla directed video for it. Great minds think alike….
“The storyline spans three different time periods, past, present, and future and follows the mysterious entity known as “8″ who transcends them all. During a live performance, Araab zones out and finds himself in the middle of an epic battle between good and evil, which only the music can free him.” – HHNM

Yasiin Bey – “Re:Definition” (Mixtape) By DJ Dub
Anyone who knows me is well aware that one of my favorite hip hop artists is the emcee formerly known as Mos Def. Looks like I’m not the only one as DJ Dub links with FreeOnsmash to deliver this brand new Yasiin Bey – “ReDefinition” mixtape. Listen, download & check out the tracklisting plus additional information below….
“Some artists in the hip-hop genre are so confident in their natural talent, that they can do whatever they please on the mic. The Mighty Mos Def, I’m sorry, Yasiin Bey is one of those people. Being able to flex his acting chops, serve as a conduit for the spirit of Ali by way of Louis Vuitton and not miss a beat on the microphone, is an amazing feat by any standard. DJ Dub brings portions of his vast catalog to life mixing classics, b-sides and his infamous Dub mixes to create a listening experience that should not be missed. Consider Re:DEFinition as your official introduction to the artist known as Yasiin Bey.”

Illastrate – “Henny Loggins Show” (EP)
Atlanta based producer Illastrate is one of ‘illest’ producers who’s been consistently releasing quality product on the low for a while now. His masterful & often soulful production credits continues to grow albeit rather quietly to the larger mainstream audiences. As much as he’s known throughout the Atlanta true school & soul scene for his tracks he’s almost equally known amongst those in the know for the wild alter-egos he employs such as “Hoodie Allen” & of course his latest alias inspired by songwriter Kenny Loggins & his love for Hennessy to become “Henny Loggins”. Wasn’t surprised when he chose the latest moniker for ‘SEASON 1’ as the title of the new project series featuring artists Ekundayo, Boog Brown, Stanza, Mike Flo, Yamin Semali, Arablak, & more. If you just want to vibe out to his dope tracks minus all the vocals, Illastrate also provided an instrumental version of the project as well. Listen or download the joints below….
