Jazzy. Smooth. “Everytime” (featuring Rahel) is the first leak from “One of Many” – Eric Lau’s forthcoming album.
Lex Boogie x Goldi Gold – “Sharks In The Golden Pond” (EP)
I had dope producer Lex Boogie & the outstanding visual artist Goldi Gold to speak on their collaborative instrumental project “Sharks In The Golden Pond” last Saturday during The Beatz & Lyrics Show. We’ll have audio of that interview posted very soon, but listen, download, & check out a brief synopsis of the project below….
“Conceptually the project can best be described as a ‘visual instrumental’. Lex Boogie from the Bronx, known for his soulfully, raw, Boom bap, , drum kicks and snares hails from his name sake, the boogie down Bronx. Artist Goldi gold best known for his staple life like, one of a kind graphic illustrations hails from New Jersey. When the two got together in Atlanta they immediately saw the value in each others work and shared a similar work ethic. The project maybe the perfect instrument to take you from the freeze of this past winter to the unpredictability of the Spring. Collaboratively this project is symbolic to the drive and vision of these two talented Hip Hop heads.”

Tall Black Guy – “Make Life Better” (Night’s Over Egypt Re-Blap Up)
Detroit producer Tall Black Guy has consistently been killing it with his souful productions & bounce worthy remixes. This time around he takes The Jones Girls R&B classic “Nights Over Egypt” & chefs it up differently with his own production spices & serves the fans his very own ‘Night’s Over Egypt Re-Blap Up’ remix of sorts. Straight vibin’ to this fiyah right here. I’ve played this joint about 5 times in a row after initially hearing it. Dopeness…
Phil Beaudreau – “This Is Why” feat. Dawaun Parker
This is on some old soul and jazz with a little boom bap for the rap. Not gonna fret over what to call it as far as the genre. Phil Beaudreau’s “This Is Why” (featuring Dawaun Parker) is good music. That’s what it is. And check the lyrics:
And it’s got a message. This is why it’s dope.

R&B/Jazz: Freddie Joachim – “Morning Calm”
I’m a big fan of Freddie Joachim’s work & he consistently keeps the quality coming. I can listen to his soulful & jazzy soundscapes for months & never get tired of them. That’s the definition of timeless. His latest project “Fiberglass Kisses” is out now & my favorite song “Keep Lovin” featuring North Carolina songstress Carlitta Durand stays on repeat in my itunes. This new joint right here he released called “Morning Calm” is just that….relaxing. Had this one on repeat several times after I first listened to it & felt I’d share it with y’all below. Trust me…it’s perfect.
FREDDIE JOACHIM – MORNING CALM
KIDA – “Blues 101” (Prod. By Smokey Beatz)
Deep stuff from Los Angeles emcee KIDA on “Blues 101.” The music and the message are on point with “the blues” for certain. KIDA’s story starts mellow, as he is telling his son a story. Come to find out, KIDA was telling the story was of the setup and murder of his dad… by his dad’s homie. Don’t let the smooth beat fool you. This “Blues 101” is a dark tale. Listen…again and again.
Robert Glasper – “Black Radio” (Pete Rock Remix) feat. Yasiin Bey

John Robinson x PVD – “Miles & Trane”
Veteran emcee John Robinson (aka Lil Sci of Scienz of Life) and beatman PVD have been rocking crowds together for years. On this track, PVD’s jazz-influenced breaks and Robinson’s intelligent wordplay combine for a sure-fire hit… and a great limited-edition 45 rpm 7″ record! “Miles & Trane” not only pays homage to two of the greats (Miles Davis and John Coltrane, pictured above), it uniquely reps real Hip-Hop in a way that is so needed right now! Enjoy.
Robert Glasper — “Afro Blue” ft. Erykah Badu (9th Wonder’s Blue Light Basement RMX feat. Phonte)
Jazz keyboardist Robert Glasper teamed with soul songstree Erykah Badu on a jazzy cut to show that Houston is definitely in the house! Well, why not bring in 9th Wonder to remix it and Phonte to bless it with a lyric… you know, to drop some North Carolina flavor on it? Okay DONE! Here is the result: a smooth Hip-Hop redux of the song by Glasper and Badu. Stream the “Afro Blue” remix, and pre-order your copy of “Black Radio Recovered (The Remix EP)” by Robert Glasper (due out October 9, 2012) at the links provided here.
