Stetsasonic’s Daddy-O Says Rakim Lied (Video)
Rakim…Is he the greatest emcee? No.
(Insert that disturbing record scratch sound here.)
Now, I am Stetsa Crew loyal for LIFE! Love Stetsasonic. So, I can admit to being torn about this. But not so much; need to hear who Daddy-O is thinking is #1. Besides, the throne is not truly the throne if it cannot be challenged. Word to Wakanda. The title of ‘greatest’ or ‘best’ or whatever MUST be able to be called into question if we are going to acknowledge or crown any royalty in Hip-Hop.
And that’s not even the controversy here. It’s the allegation that the G.O.D.M.C. lied. Watch and see exactly how Stet frontman Daddy-O says Rakim Allah lied…

Jayforce.com Has Joined The Fight For Freedom (Video)
Jayforce.com has become one of the founding members of “Building The North Star.”
171 years ago Frederick Douglass and Dr. Martin Delany started ‘The North Star’ as the leading abolitionist newspaper of the day. They spoke truth to power and unashamedly used journalism as a platform to fight for freedom. With the blessing and permission of the family of Frederick Douglass, we are rebuilding ‘The North Star.’

Ice T Speaks On New Album ‘It Came From Space’ And His ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Gig Being An Opportunity He Turned Into A 20-year Career (Video)
Bwaahaa! Ice-T didn’t know about the Wu-Tang Clan, but he instantly knew upon meeting them that he wanted them to be on their side. Wanted no smoke from the dudes wildin’ out of Shaolin!
Ice-T stopped by Sway In The Morning to talk about his new album, Law and Order, Wu-Tang Clan and MC Lyte.
Ohhhh! Mr. X is Ice’s old homie Africa Islam! And they are into some of that new-new! Great interview with Heather B at the helm for this show ep.
MC Serch Speaks On ‘The Gas Face’ And His Dealings With 3rd Bass, MC Hammer, And Nas (Video)
Point taken. It is probably appropriate to say that as far as ‘pure’ Hip-Hop for the Heads… Yeah, 3rd Bass was the first act with a White lead duo. Got the full interview MC Serch of 3rd Bass did with Vlad. Great insights… including a word on who actually owns Nas’ publishing rights. Start with part 1 above and keep watching after the jump.
Who Killed Tupac & Biggie? LAPD Detective Greg Kading Names Names! (Video)
Just in case the decades of foot-dragging and the much-hyped USA Network miniseries did not quench your thirst for knowledge on the Notorious B.I.G. & Tupac murders, VICE gets the scoop in ’10 Questions’ posed to the lead investigator. And he answers them directly!

– VICE
A couple of things to keep in mind: (1) Kading’s investigation was directed toward clearing any blame regarding the LAPD’s role/coverup with respect to the murders of ‘Pac & BIG… (2) both the people Kading directly accused are dead #JustSaying
You’ve Seen The Trailer. Now, Enter The “36 Chambers” Documentary (Video)
Great short film! The Wu fam gets to tell their story; their words with their music as the backdrop. And the commentary from rap contemporaries and modern tastemakers like Gary Vaynerchuk… so dope!!
For The Children: 25 Years of Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) [Trailer]
Good look for the Wu and all their fans. The Hip-Hop Nation in fact. Outlooks and insights from Wu-Tang Clan members, peers, and ‘descendants’ (new school artists) should make for a dope documentary on the Golden Era greats who are still repping real Hip-Hop today!

Dave Chappelle Speaks On Ethics And The Relevance Of What He Did NOT Do (Video)
What was that? You wish there was more Dave Chappelle content posted on here? Well, what a coincidence 😉
In a rare interview, comedian Dave Chappelle tells “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King about why he is connecting with a part of his family history at Allen University in Columbia, South Carolina. His great-grandfather, Bishop William David Chappelle, was a former President at the University.

How Do You Think Jonah Hill Scored On His ’90s Hip-Hop Test? (Video)
So Young M.A tried a 90s quiz, and “passed” it for the most part… But Jonah Hill LIVED the 90s. The proof and homage for such is him doing really good! Evidently, Jonah knows his 90s. Good – seeing as how he’s got that movie coming and such.
Sports/History: Tommie Smith Raised A ‘Black Power’ Fist During The Medal Ceremony At The 1968 Olympics… With No Regrets (Video)
Talk about REPRESENTING! You know the black and white video at the Olympic games back, back in the day, with the raised fists in it? Yes, this guy, that part!
Tommie Smith sits down with Bill Rhoden to discuss the 50th anniversary of his iconic gesture at the Olympics and how it is relevant in these times.
Shout to John Carlos (the other athlete who raised his fist on the podium), too. Watch this though. Great insights on what modern day athletes can and should be doing with their platforms for humanity, applauding Colin Kaepernick for his taking a knee and taking a stand.

KTLA anchor Frank Buckley interviews G-Funk pioneer and Hip-Hop icon Warren G.
History: Did You Know The Panthers Were Instrumental In Bringing Healthcare To The Community (Video)
Just being a follower here, we can assume that you know that the Black Panthers were NOT just gun-toting White-hating anarchists and agitators. But this vid… this is for the one looking over your shoulder; the one that maybe you should invite over and give your chair and let learn the truth! The Black Panthers were not only stepping up to defend downtrodden people of color against abusive authorities, but they were stepping in where the authorities would not – providing food and healthcare programs unlike anything offered to brothers and sisters who would not get help elsewhere.

Sports: Muhammad Ali x David Frost Interview (1974) [Video]
David Frost (yep, that dude they’re talking about in that ‘Frost Nixon’ movie) interviews boxing legend, Muhammad Ali. Frost could give it to U.S. President Nixon, but Ali is the Champion Of The World… and of classic jibber-jabber! Gotta love hearing the Champ talk. You definitely will after watching this.
Lots of funny, but Ali drops some jewels in here, too.

Many Black Kids Cannot Swim. Really. And Here Is Why… (Video)
Wow, that’s a real thing. All my family can swim. My Dad learned as a kid, self-taught, playing in the ‘crick’ (creek) down the road. My baby brother was swimming by the time he could walk. So, I just kinda dismissed such talk as broad generalization; no real fact-finding driving the claim. Well…
In 2014, the CDC found that an 11-year-old Black child is 10 times more likely to drown than a White child the same age. The notion that “Black people can’t swim†may sound like a stereotype, but it’s a real disparity and it’s rooted in a history of discriminatory access to swimming pools.

History/Activism: James Baldwin Called It Long Ago. But America Has Still Not Learned (Video)
Those who do not remember their history are doomed to repeat it. Only thing is, for minorities (read: Black people) in America, there is WAY more ‘doom’ at stake.
…what America still refuses to learn from history. Here are the lessons still unlearned from James Baldwin.
– Francis Maxwell
We keep thinking that this Administration, this social reality, this America, is something ‘new’… but nah… Baldwin saw this in his day, over and over, and would have probably seen it all coming.

“Chescaleigh” Examines The History of Asian Sex Stereotypes (Video)
You saw the episode Franchesca did on Black female stereotypes, right (here)? Well, she’s got one for Asian stereotypes, too. Lotta stereotyping we have going on in our society…
If you take a look at popular culture there’s a pretty strange divide between Asian women and Asian men. Asian women are adored and fetishized by men of many ethnicities, while Asian men are rarely seen as sex symbols of any kind. Why? Well, these stereotypes don’t come from nowhere, they actually evolved from a long and twisted history of war, trade, and persecution of American citizens. Watch this MTV Decoded episode with Franchesca “Chescaleigh” Ramsey to learn more.

Food: Homegrown Tomatoes Taste Better (Video)
My Dad was a sharecropper through late his preteen years before his family moved to Tuskegee. The farmer in him meant we would have a pretty big garden every year, overflowing with tomatoes. They were not heirloom tomatoes like these, but those ‘maters did taste different. Guess that is no surprise. Homegrown vs. storebought, you know… It’s just that this video gives a ‘fullness’ to the argument that I cosign. Check it out.
Ever wonder why homegrown tomatoes taste so much better than ones you buy in a store? Renowned seed saver and farmer John Coykendall hits it out of the park with this explanation – and shows how heirloom veggies, like tomatoes, link us to our ancestors!

Franchesca Ramsey Declares That It Is Time For These Black Female Stereotypes To Die (Video)
Hahaa! This reminded me of the ‘Black Acting School’ part of Robert Townsend’s “Hollywood Shuffle” (with White ‘instructors’ insisting that ‘students’ act ‘Blacker’… like ‘jive turkey mothaf**ckas’). Sharp commentary in that, too. Watch Franchesca’s commentary on long-standing Black Female stereotypes in media.
Ever notice how black women in media tend to looped into a few basic stereotypes? Like, get portrayed as the sassy friend who has an instant comeback for everything, or the over-sexualized woman who wants it all the time, or the helpful Black maid. Well, these stereotypes don’t come from nowhere. And on this Season 3 throwback episode of MTV Decoded, Franchesca “Chescaleigh” Ramsey shows where they come from and explains why they need to be buried good and deep.

(I think she could have ‘stuck it’ to reality TV a bit more. There’s one obvious culprit right there.)
