VH1 Presents “Uprising: Hip Hop & The L.A. Riots” (Documentary)
We watched this documentary on VH1 last night & I personally found it to be a very well put together & honest account of what took place during the L.A. Riots 20 years ago & how hip hop & it’s artists were not only early forecasters of things to come, but at times participants in one way or another.

Rare Footage: Notorious B.I.G. – “Warning” Video Shoot (Video)
I love when rare footage gets unearthed & uploaded on the web of because it’s like instant gold for real hip hop heads. Check out this rare footage from behind the scenes of Biggie’s “Warning” video shoot that just popped up on the web yesterday we caught via Missinfo. One of the great things about his video is in the interview is when Biggie keeps things very honest about not being too hollywood by renting out the cribs & things & wanting to do better for his daughter. Later on in the video they also interview a young Sean “Puffy” Combs as well as Biggie’s former business partner Lance “Un” Rivera….

Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap (Film Trailer)
Ice-T’s upcoming documentary looks very promising from the visuals & flow of this trailer. The documentary is set to drop in June of this year featuring KRS-ONE, Nas, Eminem, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Kanye West, Grandmaster Caz, Big Daddy Kane, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Common, & just so many other reputable emcees I’d be here all day just listing them all. Ice-T serves at the director of the film & the most impressive thing I’ve learned so far about process is that unlike many other possibly similar documentaries on hip hop or the ‘Art Of Rap’, ICE-T doesn’t utilize any archival footage so it’s evident no easy route was taken in producing this project. Looking forward to seeing this film…

Muhammad Ali Speaking On How People Only Respect Wealth (Video)
While talking with a few friends of mine about how athletes & many rap artists today don’t get behind any causes other than their own I was reminded of this interview Muhammad Ali did back in the day. He spoke about how most people are sheep until you can lure them in & then give them the message you’re really trying to get across. Unlike Ali, the majority of preachers, evangelists, athletes, & rap artists today aren’t delivering any real message with what they are doing. I guess it makes sense to be flossy if there is some sort of purpose behind it.
Skateboarder Tom Schaar, 12, Makes History Landing First Ever 1080 Off 70 Foot Ramp (Video)
I’m not a skateboard enthusiast but I do marvel as many of the things cats are doing on their skateboards. I watched it live when legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk landed the first ever 900 off of a quarterpipe wall during the X Games. 12 year old Tom Schaar is a young promising skateboarder who just made history by soaring above a 27-foot quarterpipe wall & spinning three full rotations and landing with his board still underfoot. I remember when people said no one would be able to beat Tony Hawk’s 900 after it was completed. It took a 12 year old skateboarder to prove them all wrong.

Larry Flynt: The Right To Be Left Alone (Documentary)
“Larry Flynt: The Right To Be Left Alone” is a sensational portrait of America’s most famous smut peddler and his many First Amendment court battles over the past 30 years. An often polarizing figure, Larry Flynt has long struggled to expand the parameters of free speech and expose the hypocrisy of this country’s elected leaders. He’s spent more time in court than many lawyers and even spent time in jail for his beliefs. When he talks about the meaning of democracy, he’s earned the right to be heard!
