What can a real DJ do with tracks from The Good Girls, Michael McDonald, Dwele, Tom Misch, Sola Rosa and more? Hmmm… Why don’t I let Yogi answer that with this funk-soul mix.

Sheila “The Diva” Lewis Remembers Being A “Soul Train” Dancer (Video)
Y'all remember #SoulTrain dancer Sheila "The Diva" Lewis? Watch as she reflects on her over-the-top fashion and fond memories on the show. #SoulTrainDancerBET #AmericanSoulBET https://t.co/TfIzTPs3JD
— BET (@BET) March 27, 2019
Mm mm mm. The Diva was fine back then, and aging like fine wine! ‘Soul Train’ was so beautiful, so important. And the dancers made the show. Shelia Lewis speaks on her ‘Soul Train’ experience.
Original Soul Train Dancers Speak On What It Took To Dance For Don Cornelius & ‘Soul Train’ Back In The Day (Video)
We taught America to dance. We taught the WORLD to dance!
Ahhh, so Doc C. brought the Soul Train line to TV straight out of Chi-Town. Learn about that and more about this quintessential part of our Culture in this mini-doc.
From the days of Motown to the birth of Hip-Hop, the “Soul Train” dancers look back at their time on the show and reflect on how their experiences transformed Black culture.

Toro y Moi – “Ordinary Pleasureâ€
Do not attempt to adjust the horizontal… (is that TV reference too old school? Yes, maybe?) Cool ‘visualizer’ effect to deliver some cool audio stimulation. Not ‘ordinary’ no matter what the title is.
“Ordinary Pleasure” is taken from Toro y Moi’s forthcoming album, ‘Outer Peace,’ out January 18th on Carpark Records.
Anderson .Paak – “Anywhere” (Live Performance) [Video]
If you saw ‘The Daily Show’ with .Paak on it you will get why Trevor Noah was speechless. Ha! But this performance was dope on that level regardless.
(The crowd certainly was not ‘speechless.’)
Tuxedo – “2nd Time Around” (Video)
NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series Presents: Tuxedo (Video)
A Tuxedo Tiny Desk Concert? Best ticket you didn’t even have to purchase. Check it out!
When Tuxedo arrived at NPR and Mayer Hawthorne spied a small ‘Ho!’ button sitting on Bob Boilen’s desk, he immediately beamed. “We use a big ‘Ho!’ button on tour,” he said. They didn’t bring a drummer, opting for a boombox — yes, a real boombox playing a real cassette tape, kids — and it was nostalgic delight from the start of the cassette’s hiss. The band was tight as ever, while their ace in the hole, Gavin Turek provided dance moves and the sweetest harmonies. Tuxedo set things off with a fan favorite from their first album, along with two [more] before closing it out with a red light special. It’s one thing to go against the grain for the sake of it — and another completely make it good. In this Tiny Desk concert, Tuxedo accomplished both.

Y’all know we “Fux With The Tux” heavy around here, right? You should…

Tuxedo – “U Like It”
We’ve posted on Tuxedo (Jake One and Mayer Hawthorne). Heard this song a while back recently. And it popped back in my head. Struggled all weekend trying to remember what it was called and where I heard it.
Once I got my ‘memory back’ I went on a brief Tuxedo binge. So, yeah. Expect the fruits of that this week. Gonna be all good though. Admit it: “U Like It.”

Bri Steves – “Jealousy” (Video)
Maybe “They Don’t Know…” about how Bri Steves can take a classic R&B jawn, shave off the slow drag parts, add copious amounts of funky spice, double the sexy, and serve it hot on these streets! But they should. Why not start with this “Jealousy” video and learn though?
Miguel – “Python”
New sound for his ‘Ascension Tour.’ Okay then, check out the latest leak from Miguel. Something entitled “Python.” Real new, still cool.
The Internet – “Come Over” (Video)
DOPE! And Syd directed this. Cool. The Internet’s visual for “Come Over” – off the new album “Hive Mind” (due out July 20th).
DJ Fudge – “Freeplay Friday” (May Edition) [Mixtape]
So this runs like a Mother’s Day mix, but it’s a May mix. This extended holiday being the start of the ending for May… we ought to be able to rock out to this. Yeah, shout to DJ Fudge, One Captain Productions, and I Lex Project for this!
