Watch The Teaser For The Latest RZA Film, “Cut Throat City” (Trailer)

It’s cool that RZA can go Hollywood and not go ‘Hollywood’… Like his “The Man With The Iron Fists” this movie he has coming looks like something he would watch. Something we want to watch, too.

CUT THROAT CITY is the story of four boyhood friends in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward who return after Hurricane Katrina to find their homes decimated, no jobs, and no help from FEMA. Reluctantly turning to a local gangster for work, the friends are hired to pull off a daring heist in the heart of the city. But the job goes bad and they find themselves on the run, hunted by two idealistic detectives and a neighborhood warlord who thinks the friends stole the heist money. With their only way out to buy their way back, the friends decide to get what they need by turning the tables on the casinos that have taken from their city for years… by doing a little taking of their own.

Protesters ‘Makes Some Noise’ For Social Justice At “The Public” Library (Trailer)

Look up ‘moral dilemma’ in the dictionary. It’d probably reference something like this movie’s plotline in the definition. Hmmm… “The Public” library is a good place to find a good dictionary… and shelter from deadly cold winter weather. Watch the trailer above.

In The Public, an unusually bitter Arctic blast has made its way to downtown Cincinnati and the front doors of the public library where the action of the film takes place. The story revolves around the library patrons, many of whom are homeless, mentally ill and marginalized, as well as an exhausted and overwhelmed staff of librarians who often build emotional connections and a sense of obligation to care for those regular patrons. At odds with library officials over how to handle the extreme weather event, the patrons turn the building into a homeless shelter for the night by staging an “Occupy” sit in. What begins as an act of civil disobedience comes to a standoff with police and a rush-to-judgment media constantly speculating about what’s really happening. This David versus Goliath story tackles some of our nation’s most challenging issues, homelessness and mental illness and sets the drama inside one of the last bastions of democracy-in-action: your public library.

Long Live The “King Of The Monsters”… Godzilla! (Trailer)

Whoa! Looks like the modern movie-making era is finally getting it. Need to ramp up the hype to MONSTER levels WAY in ADVANCE for a potentially planet-wrecking monster movie. Godzilla, being the king of Kaiju monsters worldwide, deserves that respect and box office build-up.

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
– Warner Bros. Pictures

“Kong: Skull Island” was righteous. Here’s to hoping that this new “Godzilla” chapter even tops that. We’ll see NEXT summer!

“Shazam!” Will Tell The Origin Story Of DC’s Captain Marvel On The Big Screen (Trailer)

Wonder if they will work Captain Marvel (DC’s Captain Marvel, not the one over in the MCU; she’s a woman) into the Justice League… the story and the hero team… like they did in the animated “Justice League Unlimited” series on Cartoon Network back a few years ago.

New Line Cinema’s “Shazam!,” the origin story that stars Zachary Levi (TV’s “Chuck”) as the titular DC Super Hero, along with Asher Angel (TV’s “Andi Mack”) as Billy Batson, and Mark Strong (the “Kingsman” movies) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.
– Warner Bros. Pictures

Seems like they are really leaning in on the middle-school kid in a grown-up superhero’s body. Nothing wrong with that. Hope it works out to be a good origin storytelling experience. We will see April 2019.

How Producer Scott Storch Made Millions Of Dollars And Squandered His Fortune (Documentary)

Nothing like a morning jaunt, and a joint, with the dogs. Ahhhh, the life of Scott Storch… now. It hasn’t always been sunshine and roses for the super-producer. Yep, this half-hour Vevo documentary covers a lot of that life. And what a life it has been thus far!

There are few music careers like that of Scott Storch. The esteemed producer-songwriter made his initial mark in Philly as a key member of The Roots. A great start, but just the beginning of a wild ride to the top. Storch’s way with crafting hooks and shaping melodies, as well as his knack of being in the right place at the right time, brought him to Cali, where the inspired keyboardist began shaping the sound of pop, Hip-Hop, and R&B, working with an array of artists that stretch from Dr. Dre and Beyoncé to 50 Cent to Christina Aguilera. The hits rolled in, the money stacked up, and creativity exploded. A big chunk of the 2000’s best music has Storch’s name on it. Then, through a string of drug troubles and monetary woes, he dropped out of sight for a decade. It was the music’s loss. Now he’s back in action, and our intimate profile ‘Still Storch’ paints a portrait of a man who’s seen it all and is still cranking out great tracks. These days his studio hosts artists such as French Montana, Chris Brown, A$AP Ferg as well as talented newcomers like Kyle and Thutmose. A victory come-back. For Hip-Hop fans, ‘Still, Storch’ is a must-see mini-doc, an extended look at talent, addiction, and an unyielding passion for artistry.

Maaaan, just hearing him play bits from all the mega-hit beats he did… whew!

Why Flint Still Doesn’t Have Clean Water (Video)

Do you think the Flint [Michigan, US] water crisis has been fixed? C’mon. Poorest city of its size in the nation… take a guess.

It’s been over four years and Flint still doesn’t have clean water.

You know, President Trump could really have scored some points by getting the water cleaned up here. Waaaay cheaper than that wall that will NOT get built anyway. Plus, the returns in goodwill and political capital would be very helpful in his run for a second term.

Am I actually giving Donald Trump a tip for Campaign 2020? No. Didn’t need my advice before. Just hoping and daring him to actually do something he could really spin as something he did that President Obama did not do. To help Americans heal AND tell the truth while doing it.

C’mon, Mr. President. This is not rocket science. But speaking of rocket science (Space Force!), there is talk of Elon Musk aka Mr. Put-Men-On-Mars-ASAP stepping in. Really? Is this Administration going to let an actual ‘Rocket Man’ punk them; to let the Space X founder be a bigger force for good in our universe than the Space Force? Yeah, Trump Administration… gauntlet thrown #WaterForFlint
