Comedy: “Kevin Hart: Irresponsible” Coming To Netflix This April (Trailer)

Okay. So it looks like Kevin is gonna talk about his marriage scandal… pretty bold. But then again, when he got a grip on things he talked about his first marriage’s end candidly; on and off stage. Being able to speak on what most would think should be ‘too personal’ kinda makes a comedian ‘bulletproof’ right? But I remember his cheating and getting caught on tape was off limits (re: his friend Michael Blackson’s comments on the scandal hitting Kevin too close to home when word first got out).

Back on stage. Back to business. On April 2, Kevin Hart brings his sold-out comedy tour, Irresponsible, to a global audience for his first original Netflix standup special. The one-hour special was filmed in front of a sold-out audience of over 15,000 people at the O2 Arena in London, England. Hart touches upon his friends, family, travel… and a year filled with Irresponsible behavior.

Trailer looks funny. Get that Netflix paper then, Kev!

Based On A True Story, “The Best of Enemies” Coming Soon To Theaters (Trailer)

Great casting choices – Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell – to portray two passionate, stubborn societal adversaries who would go through such dramatic challenges and changes in life.

THE BEST OF ENEMIES centers on the unlikely relationship between Ann Atwater (Henson), an outspoken civil rights activist, and C.P. Ellis (Rockwell), a local Ku Klux Klan leader who reluctantly co-chaired a community summit, battling over the desegregation of schools in Durham, North Carolina during the racially-charged summer of 1971. The incredible events that unfolded would change Durham and the lives of Atwater and Ellis forever.

The Fresh Prince & His West-Philadelphia-Born-And-Raised ‘Bel-Air’ Story Retold As A Drama (Fan-Made Trailer)

Yooooo! If big-time producers could deliver this, today, you’d watch! Every week. And that line where Will says his life is NOT a sitcom… Oh, that is just scriptwriting GOLD! And the Meek Mill shirts are a dope touch.

What would happen if Will Smith made The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air today? Bel-Air, a story of a kid from Philly whose life got turned upside-down… in 2019.

A fan-made film.

Starring Jerry Madison as Will Smith.

Shout to Director/Cinematographer/Writer Morgan Cooper for this great concept & trailer!

The World Will Never Be The Same. ‘Brightburn’ Comes To Theaters This May (Trailer)

Of all the super-sci-fi-thriller…

I mean. At first, I wanted to smack the kid. Repeatedly. Then, seeing the trailer… it becomes VERY apparent… that that would VERY bad for my health #DeadAzz #KillerKid

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.

The ‘Hellboy’ Reboot Debuts In Theaters April 12th (Redband Trailer)

Yeah, this “Hellboy” trailer had to be redband to really get the point across. Truth is, the snip with Hellboy and the sorceress making out in the bloodbath alone earns that stamp.

Yes. That is in there. Watch!

Based on the graphic novels by Mike Mignola, Hellboy, caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human, battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge.

The Latest Offering Of The X-Men Franchise, “Dark Phoenix,” Hits The Big Screen June 7th (Trailer)

Well, well. The old run of the ‘X-Men’ blockbusters starting around the turn of the century put out a take on The Phoenix Saga. But this version though… Maaaaan, LET’S GO!

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

After 10 Years Of Extraterrestrial Occupation, The Resistance Rises (Trailer)

Food for thought: That word ‘insurgency’ we hear in the news nowadays takes on a different meaning when WE are the insurgents, right? The colonialists that raised an army in America, eventually led by General George Washington… Brittain considered them insurgents (not ‘freedom fighters’ or the resistance that would ultimately give birth to the United States of America).

That said, I’m rooting for the insurgents in this “Captive State” trailer, and for the movie itself. Hope it smashes at the box office. Looks like some good popcorn chewing scarfing action!

Set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after an occupation by an extra-terrestrial force, “Captive State” explores the lives on both sides of the conflict – the collaborators and dissidents.

RaMell Ross’ Critically-Acclaimed Documentary On Black Life In The Rural South Debuts On PBS (Trailer)

Saw RaMell talking to Trevor on ‘The Daily Show’ about this. Oscar-nominated. Cool. Put the lens on being Black and from Alabama (raising my hand)… and it’s February (Black History Month). Word.

RaMell Ross’s “Hale County This Morning, This Evening,” one of the year’s most critically acclaimed films, is a dreamy and intimate journey through the world of Hale County, Alabama, a richly detailed glimpse into life in America’s Black Belt.

“Horror Noire” Explores How Black People Love Horror Movies, But Don’t Always Get Love Shown In Return (Trailer)

Yeah. Why do they do us like that? Why do we have to die so fast, at least in the older horror movies? We ain’t tripping…

(Really. That’s Becky-With-The-Good-Hair who always trips and falls when running from monsters & killers. She oughta die ASAP, right? Haaaa!)

Based on the acclaimed book of the same name by Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman, HORROR NOIRE takes a critical look at a century of genre films that by turns utilized, caricatured, exploited, sidelined, and embraced both Black filmmakers and Black audiences.

Featuring interviews with Ernest Dickerson (Bones), Rusty Cundieff (Tales from the Hood), Jordan Peele (Us), Tina Mabry (Mississippi Damned), Tony Todd (Candyman), Paula Jai Parker (Tales from the Hood), Tananarive Due (My Soul to Keep), and Dr. Robin R. Means Coleman.

Gangsters In Paradise (Documentary)

My dad was God… at least to me…and since I could not fight God, I’d fight everybody else.

Damn. That is the definition of f’d up AND a damn near perfect description of the condition that sets a gangster on his path in life. Wow. Another in-depth hard-hitting VICE doc, covering content you just won’t get anywhere else.

In Gangsters in Paradise – Deportees of Tonga, VICE embeds with four Tongan nationals who have been sent back to the tiny island nation where they were born after serving prison time in New Zealand and the United States. Former gang members, they often struggle to reconnect with the culture, the language, and the people.
– VICE

Interesting when you realize that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is half Tongan and half Black. He could have been all f’d up in the game. He still probably would feel some pain watching this. As should we all.

Three Generations Of “Shaft” Are About To Hit The Streets? You Damn Right (Trailer)

Oh man hell yeah! This is gonna be dope. Different angle going heavy on the ‘non-cool’ “Shaft” descendant ‘JJ’ (John Shaft, Jr.) in this chapter. Looks like they kept the Black super-cool street justice vibe and amped the comedy. And kept the sexy… Wow! The sistas in this one (Regina Hall, too… nice look, even as a bitter babymama, ha!). Check out the trailer.

JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher), may be a cybersecurity expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend’s untimely death, he needs an education only his dad can provide. Absent throughout JJ’s youth, the legendary locked-and-loaded John Shaft (Samuel L. Jackson) agrees to help his progeny navigate Harlem’s heroin-infested underbelly. And while JJ’s own FBI analyst’s badge may clash with his dad’s trademark leather duster, there’s no denying family. Besides, Shaft’s got an agenda of his own, and a score to settle that’s professional and personal.
– Warner Bros. Pictures

And you see ‘Double R’ (Richard Roundtree) is still right in there with the sh!ts, too!

After Seven ‘Fast & Furious’ Movies, A ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ Spinoff? Yes! (Trailer)

The fate of the world depends on Hobbs and Shaw working together? A second time? They really, REALLY must be out of their rabid rabbit azz MINDS!! Then again, looking at the trailer, this whole flick is an ‘Are you out of your #$%! mind???’ experience. And we are here for it!

After eight films that have amassed almost $5 billion worldwide, the Fast & Furious franchise now features its first stand-alone vehicle as Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw.

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.

But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action across the globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.

– Universal Pictures UK

They got Idris running down the side of a skyscraper like it was flat land! Wow. Just wow. Do we even need fast cars at this point? Hahaaa!
