Action/Fantasy/Thriller: Natalie Portman Stars In “Annihilation” (Teaser Trailer)
The teaser doesn’t give much away about the story, but it might give you a case of the heebies and the jeebies (that ‘music’ though)! A little digging… so Natalie Portman’s character’s husband got into a spot of trouble in a spot that’s like a dark Narnia meets the Savage Land meets the Bermuda Triangle. Guess the rest of the story will come to us on or before 1st quarter 2018.
Based on Jeff VanderMeer’s best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy, “Annihilation” stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Oscar Isaac. It was written and directed by Alex Garland (“Ex Machina,” “28 Days Later”).

Watch The Hatchfund Campaign Video For “Yasuke: Birth Of A Samurai” (Trailer)
Dude. DUDE! It’s legend meets line-and-ink in this animated Black Samurai joint in development. Gotta make this happen! If Tom Cruise can be “The Last Samurai,” can we please get the first Black Samurai project greenlit & funded… please?
(Watch above and see how YOU can help, too.)
Good feeling about this. Lionsgate Films AND the dude that brought the Kitana blade-swinging, head-decapitating ‘Duncan MacLeod Of The Clan MacLeod’ to life (Gregory Widen) are already attached. Dope!
Jhené Aiko’s Short Film “Trip†(Video)
We posted the teaser on here. Now it’s time for the full-length short film. This is “Trip.”
Stirring.
‘Penny’ and her late bro (Miyagi) had to have the most unreal bond. The movie above about that is one thing. But the raw confession audio after the jump though… DO NOT MISS THAT!
“Homeboy” Shows Us That When One Door Opens… (Trailer)
The concept alone… DOPE! A different look at being in the trap… ensnared by a mental health challenge. Kudos to Bryan Christian for finding his way out of that trap with the help of loving fam and friends, and for this “Homeboy” film. Check out the trailer and the pitch at the end.

A teaser for a video short film that teases an upcoming album. Welcome to 21st-century music release strategy. But hey, it doesn’t have to make a lot of sense, as long as Jhené Aiko is in it being so cute that you sigh involuntarily. Pure science… FACTS!
Check out the teaser for “Trip” above.
‘Hunger Games’ Director Francis Lawrence Directs Jennifer Lawrence Again, This Time Starring As The “Red Sparrow” (Trailer)
From playing shape-shifting infiltration specialist mutant Mystique to ‘Hunger Games’ insurrectionist, it’s like Jennifer Lawrence’s roles have been a demo reel for a blood pressure-raising spy thriller like this. Especially when it is being directed by the same guy that helmed the ‘Hunger Games’ blockbusters, Francis Lawrence. Check out the trailer for “Red Sparrow” above. Looks like it goes sultry to gritty faster than 0-to-100… real quick!

Christian Bale Stars In “Hostiles” (Trailer)
I’ve killed everything that’s walked or crawled. If you do it enough, you get used to it.
Daaayum! The eeriness of dialogue like that, plus the music in this teaser trailer, suggests a hardcore coldness about this movie… regardless of how hot the desert looks or how hot-blooded the fights. This ain’t no regular cowboys-n-injuns flick; more like tensions between Native Americans and uniformed oppressors pushed past the snapping point.
Looks like Christian Bale found a gritty post-Dark Knight role.
Dee Rees, Known For HBO’s “Bessie Smith” (Starring Queen Latifah), Directs Another Period Film For Netflix, “Mudbound” [Trailer]
World War II is over, but the battles back home continue in this big-screen adaptation of Hillary Jordan’s 2009 novel, “Mudbound.” Two very different families struggle to make against each other and against the forces keeping them from the American Dream… in Mississippi. Yeah, it is that kind of movie, but it is also so much more. Two soldiers from the War, bound by the horrors of a War in which each mightily fought, return home to find that their respective families are NOT that close.
Two families working the Mississippi Delta, but living worlds apart. A Netflix film, Mudbound, Premiering November 17.

Watch “The Confession Tapes” Documentary On Netflix (Trailer)
Wowwww. Incredible how we might think there is no way we would confess to a crime if we did not do it; especially a crime like murder. But yeah, you would, at least, according to this investigative documentary. Watch the trailer. Understand that EVERYONE has a breaking point… that if the ‘authorities’ want a confession, it is likely they WILL get one… even if the accused is facing serious time or death!
Man. Netflix is home to some serious documentaries. Click the pic and check out the trailer for “The Confession Tapes.” Be aware and wary.

First Feature Film On The Life Of Grace Jones… Ever (Trailer)
From music to action fantasies like “Conan The Barbarian” to comedies like “Boomerang”… we’ve seen the carefully-crafted public persona of Grace Jones (and impersonations of such). But what is she really like? Does she really randomly yell challenge questions like, “Do you find me sexy!!?” to people? Get naked in a nanosecond? Flip the switch and knuckle up, ready to throw down at a moment’s notice? Is she ever vulnerable, or is she always a rocker made of rock? We really don’t know, one way or the other, do we? Even after all these years.
However, a cinema verité-style film, “Grace Jones: Bloodlight & Bami,” promises to give us the real. Check out the trailer for a taste of just how real.
Niatia ‘Lil Mama’ Kirkland Stars In “When Love Kills: The Falicia Blakely Story” (Extended Trailer)
Damn. She said she was doing this in her radio interview (posted earlier here).
Well, here’s the trailer for the “The Falicia Blakely Story” movie that Niatia Kirkland was in. It just debuted on TV One. Co-starring Lance Gross. Girl turns exotic dancer, gets turned out and her life gets turned upside DOWN!
An Anti-Facist Film’s Message We Need To Hear… Today! (Video)
“When that first minority lost out… everybody lost out.”
At the risk of piling on… Michael Moore said it so right in our post on here: If you are not going to say that what went down in Charlottesville was wrong (not on both sides, Mr. President; the NEO-NAZI side), you are pretty much on the wrong side! Turn it around. Don’t support racists, Neo-whatevers… none of that. Do the right thing: Stand with the right. The right side of the aisle, if you like; but at least be on the right side of HISTORY!
And speaking of history, watch the above clip. And by all means… DON’T BE A SUCKER!

Watch The Documentary “Sammy Davis, Jr.: I’ve Gotta Be Me” (Trailer)
I’m colored, Jewish, and Puerto Rican. When I move into a neighborhood, I wipe it out!
– Sammy Davis, Jr.
And that’s how the trailer for this installment of “American Masters” starts! Definitely a different time back then, and Sammy Davis, Jr. was right there in the think of entertainment’s elite. See his story told as only PBS can.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (Trailer)
New “Kingsman” movie! Now, don’t get me wrong… I loved the first one, but I am kinda worried about the franchise with this one. They have already KILLED THE F*CK out of everybody in the last one (world leaders, including the U.S. President, all the baddest bad guys, and all but three Kingsmen and that’s if you include ‘Eggsy’).
But I am breathing a bit easy seeing that this trailer is teasing a sequel just as dope as its predecessor. Watch “The Golden Circle” trailer for yourself.

Cover Story: Climate Gentrification Is Pushing Black Residents Out Of Little Haiti (Video)
Climate change is threatening Miami’s Black neighborhoods. Some fear they’ll be pushed out of their homes by climate gentrification. pic.twitter.com/AfZrAigCPi
— The Root (@TheRoot) August 15, 2017
It’s like we’re coming to an end, right? Little Haiti will be wiped away.
– Valencia Gunder
Redlining, gentrification… and now climate gentrification? Damn! Black folks can’t catch a break, can we? Pushed off living on the beach, being pushed out of where they eventually settled, and now the WEATHER is a driving force displacing the residents of Little Haiti in Florida. See the insights and angles explored in this mini-documentary from The Root. It was made with support from Participant Media, creator of “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” (the follow-up to that first film former Vice President Al Gore did: “An Inconvenient Truth”).
Watch The Full Comic-Con “Justice League” Sneak Peek Teaser (Trailer)
Oh snap! I just caught something around 1:30… before dude said “no Kryptonians”… he said “no LANTERNS!” Think they might try to make up for that Green Lantern goof-up a few flops back? Maybe.
Or maybe let The CW add it to their #DareToDefy line-up. The John Stewart kick-azz Marine Green Lantern (who dated Vixen, another #DareToDefy character on DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow already, on the Justice League Unlimited cartoon series back in the day). And maybe that story ties into the new Black Lightning series arc. Just an awesome idea.
Okay, so above is the 4+ minute trailer folks saw at SDCC for the upcoming “Justice League” movie. Here’s to hoping that the best part of this thing ain’t the trailers… again.
