Watch An Extended Teaser For “Hostiles” (Starring Christian Bale) [Trailer]

Not that it’s anything to base what your personal experience with a movie will be like, but the ‘reviews’ on this western “Hostiles”… Whew! Might be too raw for some of y’all. Being called ‘one of the bloodiest westerns ever’ by some. Hopefully, it’ll be ‘bloody’ good, too.

We’ll see. Next month.

Meryl Streep & Tom Hanks Expose Government Corruption In “The Post” (Trailer)

In our society, the press is supposed to function as a ‘watchdog on government’… to ‘comfort the afflicted and afflict to comfortable’… a very necessary role. But we have seen, time and again, how that can be a very DANGEROUS role for those in the press; who have dealt with threats on their lives and livelihoods to keep us all up in OUR government’s business (because it is OUR business).

Watergate. Iran Contra. The baseless war in Iraq (to take out weapons of mass destruction that were NOT there)… scandals uncovered by the press. When they do what they are meant to do, reporters serve a critical role in our democracy; holding those in power accountable.

This is an homage to those in the press who did their duty, at great risk, back in the day. “The Post” is looking like another incredible movie that tells a compelling real-life story about what some key figures in the press went through to keep America (and the world) informed about what the government tried to keep covered up.

Steven Spielberg directs Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks in “The Post,” a thrilling drama about the unlikely partnership between The Washington Post’s Katharine Graham (Streep), the first female publisher of a major American newspaper, and editor Ben Bradlee (Hanks), as they race to catch up with The New York Times to expose a massive cover-up of government secrets that spanned three decades and four U.S. Presidents. The two must overcome their differences as they risk their careers – and their very freedom – to help bring long-buried truths to light.

Check Out The Teaser For Danny Brown’s Documentary, “Live At The Majestic” (Trailer)

Going back to his fam, the good folks of Detroit. Watch Danny celebrate with good drank and good dank. And the crowd went wild! An Apple Music film. Looks dope.

Danny Brown “Live at the Majestic” is Andrew Cohn’s new concert documentary featuring the uniquely indie, Detroit rap star. The documentary takes you behind the scenes as the famed rapper prepares to take the stage at the Majestic Theatre in his very own hometown. Like any return to the place you grew up, the journey is filled with hilarious stories of youthful misdeeds, wrestling with a new and more honest assessment of home and a deeper understanding of yourself. What Cohn delivers is both an intimate and poignant conversation with Brown and a wholly entertaining rock doc featuring explosive concert footage.

Making French Montana’s “Unforgettable” Provided Opportunity & Footage For A Compelling Documentary: “My Project, Their Reality” (Video)

Remember that “Unforgettable” joint that Montana did with Swae Lee? This documentary/behind-the-scenes is about the place (Uganda) and people that provided the backdrop and warmth for the video. Gave French Montana life again when it came to Hip-Hop. Watch and get a feel for why…

(After the jump, in the pics, you see the most gripping moment of the short film… The kid, Ronnie, said “if” he grows up. “IF”… no kid his age should be ‘hedging’ in life because he may not live to grow up. Wow. Well worth watching this story.)

A Look At Life “Across The Tracks” In The 1960s (Trailer)

Powerful story on racial identity: The way you see it, the way the world sees it, the way the way you see it changes as time goes on and the world changes… Wow.

If you could choose, which would you choose? Are you sure? This is SELF-examination time. Be sure to examine in context, too. This treatise always makes for compelling movie-making (ex: “Imitation Of Life”).

Two African American sisters grow up in racially charged 1960s Georgia, but one is born with fair skin. And when schools integrate in their small town, she decides to change her destiny – by passing for White.

VICE on HBO: Heroin Crisis & The New Age of Nukes (Video)

Two topics that are about ‘blowing up’ in their own ways. Truthfully always thought that the drug game was going the way of pills more so than that ‘ron… And “modernizing” our nukes, never really thought of that. But VICE did. Glad they are on the job.

America is facing the worst drug epidemic this country has ever seen: more people are dying from overdoses than from car accidents-and at the center of it is an explosion in the use of heroin. Thomas Morton traces the causes and impacts of the crisis, from the poppy farms of Mexico to the hills of West Virginia, and investigates how users, first responders, and government officials are responding to the new reality of American drug use.

Twenty-five years after the end of the Cold War, America’s vast nuclear arsenal is beginning to show its age, and the government has embarked on the largest nuclear modernization effort in our history, costing American taxpayers as much as $1 trillion. Kaj Larsen goes aboard a ballistic missile submarine and visits the facilities on the front line of our nuclear weapons program to see why the military wants to upgrade the nukes we have-and why that might be a dangerous idea.

A Powerful Cast, Including Queen Latifah And Jill Scott, Tells The Story Of The Water Crisis In “Flint” (Trailer)

Coming to Lifetime Television in a few days. Cannot believe this went on… is likely still going on. And it is NOT fake news. Hell, it is hard to imagine that this is real life sometimes. But this trailer is teasing a movie that tells the story as it should; with passion and high emotion. People HAVE to CARE when this happens; made to care, and care enough to DO SOMETHING!

“Flint” is the gripping retelling of a crisis that shook a nation and shines a light on the whistleblowers who exposed the biggest environmental scandal of our generation. Civil Rights Activist James Baldwin At Cambridge University Union In 1965… Speaking Like He Is With Us Today (Video)

Is 400 years of slavery building this country (and oppression thereafter) plus many wars of service not enough to justify our right to have some say in its running… without having to hear, “You can leave it if you don’t love it”… Well, isn’t it? Answer: YES! Moreover, we are not going to be ousted by anyone. We helped BUILD this place ‘they’ say we can ‘leave’ (like it isn’t OURS, too)! Sure, this declaration has an angry tone. So I will let activist/scholar James Baldwin say it. Words from so long ago. Could he have known they’d still be so applicable today?

Prior to the UK release of the Oscar-nominated documentary, I Am Not Your Negro, we take a look at a seminal speech by the film’s subject – writer, essayist, poet and civil rights activist James Baldwin. At Cambridge University Union in 1965, Baldwin debates whether the ‘American dream’ has been achieved at the expense of African-Americans.
– The Guardian

Yeah. And Baldwin even has something to say about the flag in this. So on point.

Best. “Black Panther” Teaser. Ever!! (Trailer)

Okay, so Wakanda is not real. But styling its geography, geopolitics, and people makes the “Black Panther” movie real enough to reward watchers for agreeing to suspend disbelief. In other words, we don’t feel stupid for believing in vibranium-fueled fights… in ancient hidden cities laden with high-tech… spaceship-looking flying back-and-forth… bustling cityscapes where many random vehicles, streets and buildings get wrecked…

If the storytelling is good, we will be here for it all. And from what this trailer is showing us, the storytelling is gonna be good.

Action-packed but so ‘real’ and so good! So really good it’s surreal!

Enjoy the trailer thoroughly.

Denzel Washington Stars As “Roman J. Israel, Esq.” (Trailer)

Yeah. Denzel’s going for another gold statue on this on everything! And you know how sometimes an extended trailer just means Hollywood could not figure out how to cut the footage down to a 45-second teaser? How the extra minute or so was not necessary? Well, you will need to watch every bit of this trailer. It’s a story in and of itself. Teasing an EPIC movie experience (coming this November), featuring a very complex and tortured character that you ‘think’ you know… but you don’t. Watch. Now.

Starring Josh Duhamel, Bokeem Woodbine and Jimmi Simpson, and no longer a ‘long-awaited’ or ‘maybe, strong maybe’… They kept snatching the clips down like someone was ‘hedging’ at the network. But okay. This Biggie-Tupac crime drama series is definitely coming to USA.
