Planet Asia – “Grade A Ism” (Prod. By Dirty Diggs) [Video]
F#ck talking. Show me Gouda!
Planet Asia talks a lot more ish than that in this one; in the grandest tradition of lyrical braggadocio. Show me the money! Haaa! But the overall vibe carried by the visual is laid back. Goes well with the track. Your ears are gonna love it. “Nautica Nagas” (the full project) is out now, too. Got it linked for you below.
Tall Black Guy x Eric Lau x kidkanevil x Mr. Thing – “Thing Leaves The House” (Instrumental EP)
Great product above. In honor of RSD (Record Store Day) 2015, Tall Black Guy, Eric Lau, kidkanevil and Mr. Thing put out “Thing Leaves The House.” Can’t tell it better than DJ Gilla did for the First Word Records write-up:
Running an independent record label in 2015 is a tricky, (and some would say foolish) task. It is of course, a privilege to be given the responsibility to get an artist’s music out into the world, but the label’s side of the job is more about spreadsheets and sales ledgers than champagne and cigars. That is why last year’s Record Store Day was genuinely one of the most memorable and important days in the life of First Word. We released our first RSD release – Nothing Leaves The House, a project that was dreamt up on RSD 2012, and finally shared two years later. Unlike most records we release, we were able to be there as music fans discovered the record in the shops – an experience that was inspiring, humbling and ever so slightly addictive.
So we were always going to return with part two in 2015, this time with a twist. A year on from the day the trio of Eric Lau, Tall Black Guy and kidkanevil visited Mr. Thing’s collection to sample his records (where nothing could leave the house), we gathered them at London’s Love Vinyl record shop where he had brought one record from his collection for each producer. Their challenge was to make a beat from the individually chosen records: the results massively exceeded our expectations. Originally Mr. Thing was going to make a track from something in his collection too, but the three producers decided that he should go through the same process as they would. They picked a record from the racks of the shop (they had to find one he didn’t already own first) and his beat was created from that. The result is 4 tracks that truly capture the personalities of each producer, and a record that is born out of a heartfelt love of records – we hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.
We’ll be back for round 3 in 2016…
DJ Gilla, April 2015
BONUS: There’s a RSD mini-documentary cued up for you after the jump!

Rogue Dynamo – “Roses and Karma” (EP)
The Atlanta Hip Hop scene is a very diverse one. Â There are a number of different artists that range from Boom Bap, Trap, Rock, House etc. Â Adding to this diverse scene is Rogue Dynamo who has released her new Karma and Roses EP which is an eight track sonic adventure. Â She not only gets busy behind the mic she also helps with the production of this new project.
“Roses and Karma”, the newly released EP from ATL’s own Rogue Dynamo is all about maintaining balance in a world full of constant changes and evolving challenges. The album serves as a Karmatic journey with Hip Hop’s very own anti-heroine navigating the voyage. Love, betrayal, relationships, and the hunger to obtain greatness despite the odds, fuel the eight-track-odyssey known as Roses and Karma.Led by the hit indie single “On My Own”, and including production from Rogue and a talented group of others, the album showcases another facet of Atlanta-based Hip Hop.

Mega Ran x The Regiment – “Venting” (Prod. By El Huervo) [Video]
How can the thing you love be so… annoying?
He quit his gig as a teacher. That was easy. Life as a worthwhile, fulfilled rap artist (as Mega Ran)… not so much. The lyrical heat driving that fire within needed an outlet. Hence, “Venting†(produced by El Huervo). The song comes from the EP “A Gamers Anthem†with Detroit’s Mega Ran (aka Random) and The Regiment.
