BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge: “Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)†With Justin Timberlake (Video)
Justin Timberlake covers the Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body (Down To The Ground)” in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. As Michael Jackson is the King of Pop, an icon like Justin – who’d be heir to that throne – should rock a Jackson hit whenever opportunity presents itself.
Twenty Feet From Stardom (Trailer)
“When you’re a background singer, it is a springboard. But it can easily become quicksand if that’s not what you want to do.”
Talk about ‘unsung’… Darlene Love, Merry Clayton, Claudia Lennear, Lisa Fischer, and Judith Hill sang some of the greatest songs of our time… in the background! “Twenty Feet From Stardom” spotlights the untold true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musical legends of the 20th and 21st centuries. Included: archival footage and intimate interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Mick Jagger and Sting. Here’s the trailer. Shout out to my folks at Bad Magics for the scoop.

Daft Punk – “Lose Yourself to Dance” feat. Pharrell Williams (Official)
We’re like Daft Punk here… we even post spoof vids of Daft Punk cuts (exhibit: Stephen Colbert’s Colbchella 2013 clip). Now with this “Lose Yourself To Dance” featuring Pharrell Williams vocalizing and Nile Rodgers gigging over the track, how could we not post this video short? Hottest minute of dance music you’ve experienced in a minute! Get the whole Daft Punk album – “Random Access Memories” – on iTunes now.
R&B: Robin Thicke – “Give It 2 U” feat. 2 Chainz x Kendrick Lamar (Video)
Robin Thicke having more fun on the set. This “Give It 2 U” video is on the same vein as that “Blurred Lines” video (which we posted on here) – lotta a sexy (shout out to the Alabama State University Dancing ‘Stingettes’ featured in the video) mixed with a liberal amount of Hip-Hop. 2 Chainz and Kendrick Lamar rode along on this party track. Respect to director Diane Martel for another great vid: first, “Blurred Lines” and now this one!
Comedy: Stephen Colbert ‘Gets Lucky’ Performing Daft Punk’s Hit (Video)
Stephen colbert invite Hugh Laurie et Matt… by oh-my-magSo that’s the word: The French dance music duo Daft Punk cancels on their Colbert Report appearance – citing as the reason a prior arrangement to do no live performances for the MTV/Viacom associated networks before MTV’s VMA Awards. But so what??!! Host Stephen Colbert does his own star-studded “Get Lucky” music video/performance/dancefest for his ColbChella ‘013… and it will be one of the most enjoyable clips you will watch this week!
(Actually, the Daft Punk guys may not have even been scheduled for the show… so don’t hold any grudges for them. But DO enjoy the above clip… thoroughly!)

Will Smith, ‘Carlton’ and Friends Give UK’s Graham Norton a Show (Video)
This could be the most fun 6 minutes you will experience without Dougie Fresh! Watch Will Smith get off the guest couch to rock the mics with his son Jaden at the host’s invitation on the UK’s “Graham Norton Show.” Then… we get DJ Jazzy Jeff on the table… THEN we get Alfonso Ribero (Will’s co-star from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” TV show) coming out to do his ‘Carlton’ dance with Will singing along to the song! A stunned and thoroughly entertained Bradley Cooper (from “The Hangover” and “A-Team” movies) looks on then daps up the performers afterward.
It was like a talk show was going on, and all of a sudden, a party train crashed the studio. You better ‘jump on it’ and enjoy this video!

Voluptuous Coco O. bringing some real sexy back (sorry Timberlake ha!) to the dance floor while performing the vocals is a good look…literally. She and producer/musician Robin Hannibal are leading the campaign for the their upcoming album, “Avalanche” (due out June 4th) with this single.
Potato Travel Guide: Miami (Video)
Great to see the success former Atlanta resident Walshy Fire has been having down in Miami especially as a member of Major Lazer with Philly DJ/producer Diplo. Seemed like yesterday when I’d always see him at many of the reggae events around the city of Atlanta. Fast forward several years & he continues to be active down there in Miami as well. As many people arrive in Miami this weekend primarily for the Winter Music Conference, Walshy hosts this special “Potato Travel Guide” to Miami for those who are in town now & those who plan to visit in the near future….

BamaLoveSoul dropped another another hot rock in my inbox (by way of Eavesdrop Radio) – a Simbad refix of “Devilz Pie” by D’Angelo. The track has a bouncy dance feel to it. Good stuff.
