Kindness – “This Is Not About Us” (Video)

It’s… It’s like John Lennon meets Michael Jackson… That pop and beat of the street yet above it all groove. Something to dance to. And Kindness aka Adam Bainbridge (with Karla) shows you; in case you are in the dark about how.

Some of my favourite videos are simple choreographies – for the “This is Not About Us” video I wanted to try working with a choreographer and push myself to work on dance in a way that was less free-form and messy. I’m glad to have had the chance to work with Karla and to appreciate even more the role of the choreographer. It’s an ego-less thing to give yourself over to making someone else dance as well as possible, especially when they’re not nearly on your level. Thank you to the crew and Dan for capturing our day together.
Adam Bainbridge

Off Kindness’ LP entitled “Otherness” (due out October 14, 2014, available for pre-order below via link).

Pharrell – “Frontin’” feat. Jay Z (Disclosure Remix)

This beat’s build-up kinda makes you wait for it… Then Disclosure lets enough of the original drip into the drop for the beginning to set it off right. No “Frontin'” this is a nice dance remix to the Pharrell and Jigga classic collab.

Psy feat. Snoop Dogg – “Hangover” (Video)

Y’all might think I go loose cannon on this site with my posts (well, sometimes); but I run it all past JayForce. Hey, we’ve got a brand to think of over here. Consequently, when I got the go ahead for this new Psy x Snoop video that’s KILLING on YouTube that mirrored my thoughts EXACTLY…

This is kool. The video is very interestingly weird…..The song is just… I don’t know how to describe it.
JayForce

I had to post it first thing. I cannot explain this. But it is fun, unexpected… and rapidly climbing toward 20 million views in its first few days online. Watch, wonder, and chuckle. I know I did.

Eddy Kenzo – “Sitya Loss” (Video)

I fell in love with this song ever since I saw a youtube video of a few kids in Africa dancing too it. At the time I had no idea of who the artist was & had to take the time to track it down. Eventually I discovered the song was from Musuuza Edrisa who is a popular artist in East African widely known as “Eddy Kenzo”. The Ugandan born artist’s song ‘Sitya Loss’ is going viral in popularity thanks in large part to the original youtube video of the kids dancing in the clip. The video of the kids dancing has become so popular it’s even spawned various remixes like the Stanton Warrior’s video of ‘Loving Me Wrong’. Check out this brand new video from Eddy Kenzo as he joins the kids that made the song become more popular internationally. The remixes & original videos I’ve included after the jump. I’m glad I’ve finally found this song as it’s been promptly added to my itunes playlist & I’ve had it on repeat multiple times since then.

RIP Frankie Knuckles, Legendary DJ And Godfather Of House Music

BkH-GitCUAAr0nMSenator (now President) Barack Obama, pictured with First Lady Michelle (left) helped declare August 25, 2004, Frankie Knuckles (right) Day in Chicago.

The psalmist wrote, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the mourning.” Often, mourners gain comfort from these words; because they remind them that the pain of losing a loved one will not last. But the memories, legacy and love… those should. But first the respect due, demands we take a somber moment, family.

For House heads, dancers, and fans worldwide, it is not ‘breaking’ news so much as heartbreaking news that the
The Huffington Post reported yesterday: “Frankie Knuckles… Godfather of House Music… dies at 59 in Chicago.”

Bronx, New York (USA), native DJ Frankie Knuckles died unexpectedly on Monday afternoon; his cause of death not officially disclosed as of Tuesday morning. Having started DJing in The Bronx in 1972, Knuckles moved to Chicago in the late 1970s and played regularly at major venues through the late 1980s. His sets laid the groundwork for electronic dance music culture — his best known tracks, crossing and puling in fans from many genres, included “Your Love,” “The Whistle Song,” “Tears” and remixes of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Janet Jackson, Pet Shop Boys, Chaka Khan, Depeche Mode and many others. Knuckles won a Grammy in 1997, had a stretch of Jefferson Street in Chicago (where the famed Warehouse venue once stood) named after him in 2004 and was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame in 2005.

Knuckles remained active until his sudden passing, playing a show just two days before his death.

For the legend, the set has now moved to another venue. Yet, we have much to celebrate and celebrate with here. Take your time, fam. Join the party when you’re ready… after the jump.
