Kid Cudi – ‘Marijuana’ (Video)
Kid Cudi drops a new video from one of my favorite songs from his last album Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager. I don’t even smoke weed & I’d have this song on repeat. Directed, Shot, & Edited by that ‘Transformers’ actor Shia LeBeouf

Frank Ocean – ‘Acura Integurl’ (Video)
I’m still bangin Frank Ocean’s Nostalgia, Ultra album……This song ‘Acura Integurl’ doesn’t appear on Nostalgia, Ultra, but that’s not stopping so many people from catching on to Frank Ocean’s talent. Even Def Jam Records was caught behind the curve so much so that they are going to release the album commercially after it was already out there for free. If you’re late you better download it while you can below….

Little Dragon – ‘Looking Glass’ (Trackademicks’ Quasar Gazer RMX)
Damn this is a hot remix of Little Dragon’s ‘Looking Glass’ joint….nothing like great music. Hopefully the Trackademicks team will be able to get some official joints commisioned for Little Dragon in the future. Â Trackademicks have been doing some good remix work & it’s possible we may see some of their musical work land on Teedra Moses’s upcoming project now that she’s signed to Maybach Music Group. They did a few tracks on Teedra Moses’s last album Royal Patience so it’s definitely possible. Check out more from the Trackademicks team from their website Trackademia.com

The Weeknd – ‘What You Need’ (Video)
New video from the artist known as ‘The Weeknd’ from his ‘House Of Balloons’ mixtape. Between The Weeknd’s House Of Balloons & Frank Ocean’s ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ projects R&B has been going in a great new direction that these cats are taking them into. Now if The Weeknd can just shoot a dope ass video for ‘The Morning’ then I’ll really be hyped. ‘The Morning’ is my favorite song from his project. In case you’re behind on The Weeknd I re-added the link under the hood….

Mansions On The Moon – ‘Darkness’ (Video)
The trio of Lane Shaw, Ted Wendler, & Ben Hazlegrove make up one of the most promising new bands on the rise by the name of ‘Mansions On The Moon.’ I became a fan of Mansions On The Moon’s work after finding their music & videos on the web over the last year or two. Since then I’ve had ‘Magic’, ‘She Makes Me Feel’, & ‘Glimpse Of The Future’ (Xaphoon Jones Remix) on repeat on the ipod many times throughout the year. From what I understand the group spent a great deal of time here in Atlanta recording & working with many other established artists in the music industry before coming up with their own signature sound. They’ve been on the road touring with Wiz Khalifa heavily & are now poised to drop their official debut album that they recorded within 7 days in Los Angeles. I’m hoping they continue to create more of the same ‘Magic’ on the full length debut that they did with many of these early leaks.

Kaya – ‘Imperfections’ (EP)
Over the weekend I ran across this good song called ‘Why Don’t We’ from Toronto native Jessica Kaya. I believe she’s dropped her first name & is going by the name ‘Kaya’ from a professional standpoint from here on out. I didn’t know much about her, but upon my initial find of the song I had it on repeat multiple times. Â Too many to give an accurate count. After searching further I found that the song was apart of a free EP that she released called ‘Imperfections’. The title is suitable as she claims to have released these joints as unfinished drafts & Â incompleted works. Could have fooled me because these joints sound like ‘perfect imperfections’. Listen or download the project from the link below….
Little Dragon – ‘Nightlight’
I’ve been a fan of Little Dragon’s music even before I actually knew the name of the group. I first discovered their music in a repeated ‘Deja Vu’ like fashion through various social settings & art events I’ve attended. As a matter of fact I didn’t even know it was a group until much later. The Swedish band has been around for over 15 years, but I’ve only been familiar with their work in the last 2 or 3. Â I’m mad I missed the Little Dragon show in Atlanta the last time they came to town. Everyone who attended told me it was a dope show. Earlier this week the group dropped the first single ‘Nightlight’ from their third album ‘Ritual Union’ due July 12th. Their poised to have a big year as they we just featured in Spin magazine & will be performing around the globe including making a stop in my hometown of Philly for The Roots Picnic on June 4th. I posted the radio mix of their new single for all you DJs that need it, but fans can voice their support by going to itunes to cop the main version. As much as they’ve captured so many new fans I’m sure in 2011 we’ll see more of the ‘Rise Of Little Dragon’.

Frank Ocean – ‘Songs For Women’ (Video)
If you haven’t downloaded & listened to this man’s album ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ then you are seriously sleeping! It’s my favorite R&B album that was released this year. This unofficial video doesn’t adequately or creatively reflect what I envisioned for the song, but I’m not mad at the eye candy.
Zo! & Phonte – ‘Return Of The Mack’ feat. Tigallo The Tay God
They never should have gave you nikkaz studio equipment! Hahaaa! This song is hilarious with all the ‘Swag Swag Swag Lil B type’ ad-libs going on, but on a serious level this smoothed out remake of the Mark Morrison original song ‘Return Of The Mack’ sounds pretty good. He when they seem like they are just playing with the music it still sounds good.
The Tens: 10 Non-Hip Hop Acts To Watch In 2011
I have to agree with the good people over there at TheWellVersed. When I saw the headline via twitter the majority of these artists mentioned came to mind when I thought about it. Looks like we’re all on the same page. Click on the link below or the artwork above for the complete lists of artists mentioned……
Kid CuDi: The Journey Of Mr. Rager (Documentary)
I thoroughly enjoyed both of the albums the kid from Cleveland has dropped. Don’t know if I was dreaming or smoking the greeny green like Kid CuDi is notorious for but I’m positive I’ve seen this documentary on the web a while ago. Maybe it was removed for some reason & brought back. Who knows? Doesn’t matter…..just watch & enjoy it if you haven’t peeped it already. Part two under the hood……
Santigold – ‘Go’ feat. Karen O (prod by Q-Tip, Switch, & Santigold)
Philly raised & Brooklyn based artist Santi White better known to the world as Santogold Santigold drops this new joint after making fans of her last project wait for a grip of time since her 2008 debut ‘Santogold’. I really enjoyed that album & in fact we named it ‘Best Alternative Album Of 2008’ on our radio show 3 years ago. Now that’s she’s signed to Roc Nation management it appears its full speed ahead on releasing some new material. That’s wasup!

The BLITZ – 3/30/11: King Jayforce
The greatest man in the history of the universe was born on this day March 30th. So we celebrate the birthday of a King today….Older, Stronger, & Wiser…..Time for the BLITZ! News & information from around the world in a few clicks.. All Hail The King Jayforce
B.O.B. – ‘New York, New York’
I can hear it now…… (Southern Accent) “Aye Shawtay! Why you doin’ sowngs talmbout New Yawk & you from the Dec Shawtay!?” Gaitdayam Shawtay!
B.O.B. continues to prove that he’s an artist that’s bigger than any one region & even the rap music genre itself. You don’t have to be from New York to appreciate this joint right here. Apparently the song is for a video game called ‘Crysis 2’ . The video is under the hood……..Niiiiiiiice
B.O.B. – ‘NEW YORK, NEW YORK’
Rewind: Anjulie – ‘Warrior’
Although this song dropped around the summer of last year its one of my favorites that I play on the iphone/ipod every now & then. It’s a great motivational record when working out or just to get your mind right before any task. Â M.O.P. also does the trick for me too…yeah random, but you get the idea of where I’m coming from. Â While we were getting ready for the radio show last Saturday night, we were videoconferencing with our homegirl Reenu who moved back to Toronto & her presence reminded me to repost this song again. Reenu sort of looks like the artist Anjulie too, who is also from Toronto, so it even more than solidified the inspiration for this post. Many of us in Atlanta’s music scene know Reenu to be a big supporter of local Atlanta artists, DJs, & all around good music so this is dedicated to our homie Reenu…..
Frank Ocean – Nostalgia, Ultra (Album)
Frank Ocean is a part of the Odd Future collective that’s been getting plenty of attention as of late. I haven’t been too familiar with Odd Future‘s work to begin with so when a new project dropped by one of its members by the name of Frank Ocean I felt like I’d “eventually” get to it. Didn’t really feel an urgency to check it out right away since I was already not familiar with the collective group’s catalog & it just seemed like unfamiliar fans were about to be bombarded with new material. When a female friend of mine raved that I should check out Frank Ocean’s new mixtape/street album I decided to give it a spin while doing chores around the crib. I’m glad she put me on to this project because IT IS very good. The problem with the current R&B climate these days is there’s no vulnerability or truthfulness in the music & more often than not doesn’t take any chances. The lack of genuine feeling in the music could be due to many R&B artists not penning & orchestrating the direction of their own songs.
Frank Ocean’s work feels very personal for it not to be his own heart & soul leaking from his pen. Frank Ocean’s ‘Nostalgia, Ultra’ does what traditional R&B is supposed to do & takes it a step further with some experimentation & genre bending that actually works although he’s at times rocking over a few readily familiar music beds. I believe that was a part of the concept in the first place based on the name of the project. I’ve included a few tracks for you to check out & you can download the whole project from the main link below. Listen to this project & tell me I’m wrong. There’s 14 tracks but 4 of them are interludes that connect to the next song. If you love good music it will grab you right away….
