Kid Cudi – Mr. Rager (Video)

Seems like a minute since Kid Cudi dropped a new video from his last album Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager. In this new video for “Mr. Rager”, Kid Cudi aka Scott Mescudi is fighting within himself in an eerie dreamlike sequence.

Little Dragon – Seconds (Syd The Kid Remix)

Syd the Kid goes in on this remix of Little Dragon’s Seconds. Syd is Odd Future’s engineer and he took this once instrumental track and redid the whole thing. Little Dragon’s Ritual Union is out now.

Theophilus London – I Stand Alone (Video)

Theophilus London drops a new video for “I Stand Alone” off of his ‘Timez Are Weird These Days’ album that’s available now. The song is also the theme track to the HBO original series “How To Make It In America”. I’m diggin’ the Gigamesh Sunlight Remix to this joint so I added it to this post so that you can listen and/or download it below…..

Trackademicks – “Halfway” feat. Phonte & Carlitta Durand

The Bay area producer who coined the term “Champagne Soul”, Trackademicks, links up with two North Carolina artists that we respect when it comes to new soul music  in Phonte & Carlitta Durand. In addition to his recent work with the aforementioned Foreign Exchange frontman, Trackademicks has produced an assortment of great work from artists such as J. Davey, Kid Cudi, Teedra Moses, & too many others to name. Feels like it’s a matter of time before an artistic cat like him explodes with the recognition to match his musical talent.  Trackademicks let loose this new joint “Halfway” as a teaser to his upcoming album The Champagne Room due later this year.

Cover Track: Mayer Hawthorne – “When The Night Falls”

I have to say I’m diggin’ Mayer Hawthorne’s cover of Chromeo’s 80s flavored joint “When The Night Falls” more than the original.  The track featuring Solange Knowles initially appeared on the Canadian electro funk band’s Business Casual album. Mayer Hawthorne hasn’t disappointed me with a few of his covers & remixes of joints he’s released in the past including his “G-Mix” of Snoop Dogg & The-Dream’s ‘Gangsta Love’ that I occasionally rock with on my iphone or ipod in the car. In case you missed Mayer Hawthorne’s G-Mix of Snoop’s ‘Gangsta Love’ joint I included it in this post along with the Michigan kid’s cover of the Chromeo jawn.

The Adventures Of Bobby Ray: B.O.B. Tours Asia (Video)

Bobby Ray aka B.O.B. gives us a behind the scenes look of his adventures of his tour throughout Asia in part one of his expedition. The homie Playboy Tre also provides some hilarity along the way for the ride across the planet….

Frank Ocean – Thinking About You

Not sure where this latest Frank Ocean leak will appear or if it will land on his upcoming re-release of the Nostalgia, Ultra album since there wasn’t any additional information in the email I received. Yet & still I’m really high on this kid’s music. This new track ‘Thinking Of You’ is cool & doesn’t quite hit me as much as his other material he’s released, but overall Frank Ocean keeps delivering quality R&B that moves away from some of the corny R&B that’s been permeating the radio in recent years.

Andy Allo x Prince – “Love Is A Losing Game” (Tribute To Amy Winehouse)

The ‘Purple One’ & the equally talented & beautiful Andy Allo performed this special tribute  for Amy Winehouse while on their European tour.  The timing couldn’t have been more poignant as Amy Winehouse was officially laid to rest today. Real recognize real talent. Rest in Power Amy Winehouse….

Beastie Boys featuring Santigold – Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win (Full Length Video)

New full length video from the Beastie Boys album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Not surprisingly this odd video using “G.I. Joe-like” action figures was directed by legendary video & movie director Spike Jonze who’s noted for his often creative different projects.

Nikki Jean – ‘Millon Star Hotel’ feat. Lupe & Black Thought

Nikki Jean has been dropping gems here & there over the last few years that really caught my attention enough to keep checking for her.  Her new album ‘Pennies In A Jar’ just dropped on Tuesday the 12th. One of the key songs from her album is this joint right here called ‘Million Star Hotel’ featuring Lupe & The Roots frontman Black Thought. Don’t get it twisted though. Her album isn’t a R&B/Hip Hop album with a multitude of guest appearances, but guest appearances from quality conscious artists like Lupe & Black Thought make sense for Nikki Jean whose sound ranges from classic Motown, classic pop, & on back to Philly soul.  Check out the track & preview the album from itunes.

Jhene Aiko – Do Better Blues Part II (Marvin’s Room Remix)

Jhene Aiko supplys her take on Drake’s Marvin’s Room joint that a gang of other have R&B artists have taken a crack at. Jhene Aiko says she recorded this song while in the hospital for a few days. Not bad for a joint recorded in while you’re in the hospital recovering. Music is medicine for the soul & therapy for artists….

Theophilus London – I Stand Alone

This Trini born & Brooklyn raised cat is doing some great things with his music that is hip hop yet alternative at the same time. To say his music is hip hop is very limiting. Theophilus London has impressed me with a number of his joints he’s dropped over the last year or two proving that if you ‘stand alone’ on your own style you’ll definitely stand out. This latest joint he’s released will appear on his upcoming album ‘Timez Are Weird These Days’ dropping next Tuesday July 19th. It’s somewhat safe to say he’s pretty much in his own lane right now. It’s a creative one too….

Moonsatellite – Strange Dimensions

This one is a little different but still dope. More alternative Flying Lotus type stuff. I’m digging it. The homie Moonsatellite sent this over saying its “a chronicle of inspired insomnia.” You can definitely pick that up from the 70s style futuristic sounds and off pattern grooves. Here is my favorite joint from the project. More from the project after the jump…
