Big Boi x Little Dragon Perform ‘Mama Told Me’ On Jimmy Fallon (Video)
I remember a while back Big Boi tweeted that he was working with Little Dragon for a song on his new album ‘Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors’ that drops this Tuesday December 11th. Upon glancing over the tracklisting I’m surprised to see a few songs featuring Little Dragon will make the album. One of my favorites singles from the album “Mama Told Me” featuring Kelly Rowland was originally done with the Swedish band as well. Check out the video of Big Boi & Little Dragon performing “Mama Told Me” on Jimmy Fallon last night above then download the original version of the song below.
R&B/Alternative: Little Dragon – Sunshine (Shlohmo Remix)
This never to be released previously unreleased track from Shlohmo is actually a dope remix to “Sunshine” by Little Dragon. Has a Prince-meets-modern-Asian-orchestra vibe to it. Enjoyable though. Nice.

Prince – “Rock & Roll Love Affair” (Video)
New video & song from his majesty the Purple one himself….. “Prince”. New single “Rock & Roll Love Affair” is now available on his own Purple records label.

Kid Cudi – “Teleport 2 Me” (Video)
This Kid Cudi music video for his single “Teleport 2 Me” was a hard find. The single is off his experimental alternative Hip-Hop album “WZRD” – a collaboration with Dot Da Genius. The song was out a good while ago, but the video only recently got put out. Then… it started disappearing from video and blog sites. Strange. Oh, well… The video, directed by Walter Robot, is a conceptually deep wailing tune about Cudi missing his mate; and that comes through in the scenes – Kid Cudi going on a trippy journey from his room, into the wilderness, into outer space (more like ‘other’ space) and back… It’s a surreal experience. Note: Cleveland’s own Cudi has an album entitled “Indicud” coming out soon (early 2013). So soon, that it may make this “Teleport” experience a distant memory. Get some of this now though, because it’s definitely dope!
Check out the “Behind the Scenes” video after the jump for insights on the video concept, too. They put in work. Nice.

NA!RA – “Put Me On” (Video)
Now this was a pleasant surprise! Of course by the time a video makes it onto the site, we think it’s worthwhile viewing; but this joint was more movie than music video… from concept and even its promotion. Shout and respect to Na!ara – even asking us to review her latest film venture … not just her ‘music video.’ Nice! Check out “Put Me On” by Na!ara.

Kid Cudi – “Just What You Made†feat. King Chip (Video)
When I posted this dope ass Kid Cudi song back in August I had it on repeat for several times throughout my day for weeks. Fast forward to this crucial election day in November & I’m excited to see the Cleveland kid released this visually interesting moving portrait featuring King Chip for his latest single “Just What You Made”. Just when I started to get this song out of my head, the new video puts it right back in there again. As a fan of Kid Cudi’s music I can’t wait for his next album ‘Indicud’ that’s on the way… ***Hits repeat on the video***

The XX – “Chained” (Video)
The above music video is… beautiful. The words that follow describe it beautifully. Read… and watch!
‘Establishing themselves as purveyors of good music transcending genre, [The xx] toured the world creating fans in its every corner, each show building a larger audience to eagerly anticipate their next release. Three years after their debut, the follow up finally dropped last month. Coexist, the sophomore release from The xx, strips down their sound even further, getting to the essence of what makes their music so affective and relatable.
“Chained,†the second single off the album, embodies this reduction perfectly, with all the somber intensity that is distinctly xx and nothing more.
In conjunction with The Creators Project, bringing this lament to life is LA video production crew Young Replicant… Applying their abstract narrative style to “Chained,†the team brought to life a story conceived by The xx’s Romy Madley Croft that takes place underwater. With the same simplicity of their music, each of the band members plays a part within this setting. As Croft describes it, “No vignettes, just three individual journeys.‒

Colin Munroe – “Fight Of My Life” feat. Pusha T (Video)
Now THIS is what I’m talking about! Colin Munroe is ridiculously underrated as an artist; and the video for the “Fight of My Life” joint (featuring Pusha T) is more proof positive that he belongs in music’s upper echelon. We put it after the jump because there’s an almost bare chested woman in the video (nipples covered though) so it may not be safe for work depending where you are.
Now, don’t worry about the industry being slow on Colin’s dopeness. We got you. We always got you. Enjoy the video above first. Then, if necessary, you can ramp up your Colin Munroe knowledge by visiting an earlier posts we did in which we shared links to his latest mixtape “Unsung Hero,” the audio track for “Fight of My Life,” a video profile, and more… right here. You’re welcome!
Alternative/Soul: JMSN – “Alone” (Different Sleep Remix)
Wow! This is good. Airy… haunting… you feel it when you hear it! San Diego’s Different Sleep produced this dope remix to JMSN’s “Alone”…and kudos for it! Nice rework of a deep dope song from a while back. In case you missed it, we also posted a dope “Kno” remix of this song back in November. You can watch a video for the original version of “Alone” from JMSN after the jump. Bonus: You can stream and download it here.

Frank Ocean – “Pyramids” (Video)
Brand new video for the new single “Pyramids” off of Frank Ocean’s “Official” debut album “Channel ORANGE” that’s out right now. The Nabil directed video features a cameo from John Mayer & a few short clips of female nudity that may not be safe for work….

R&B/Alternative: Yuna – “Live Your Life” (Motherland God Mix) [Prod. By MeLo-X]
Influenced by his recent trip to Malabo Equatorial Guinea, Africa, producer/emcee MeLo-X is crafting a very unique Hip-Hop/R&B/Soul experience to be manifested in the form of his upcoming album “Zulu Guru” (due out October 15, 2012). This work will be his first collaborative effort with singer/songwriter Jesse Boykins III. For this post, we share a MeLo-X remix of “Live Your Life” (Motherland God Mix, with vocals by Yuna) that demonstrates his new musical direction. A FREE download of this remix of “Live Your Life” is available now; as well as a link to pre-order “Zulu Guru.” We provide both below.

Dawn Richard – “Wild N’ Faith” (Video)
Dawn Richard is relentless in releasing great visuals from previous singles related to her “Armor On EP” she released back in March. This particular video is a combination of one of my favorite songs from her called “Wild N’ Young” that we posted back in May before it segues into “Faith” off of her Armor On EP. The ‘Wild N’ Young’ record was unreleased & didn’t appear on the EP so it’s possible it may turn up on her upcoming album. For an independent artist Dawn Richard is killing it with the the quality of the music & music videos while keeping her fans ready before she drops her official debut album “Goldenheart” on October 16th.

R&B/Soul: Res – “On The Radio” (Donna Summer Cover)
Philly native Res has done plenty of great work that often gets overlooked by mainstream audiences. Her 2001 debut album “How I Do” STILL gets significant run from me in my itunes. In addition to serving as 1/2 of the group Idle Warship with Talib Kweli, the soul/funk/rock songstress appears to keep busy by dropping new material whenever the timing is right. With the recent passing of the legendary Donna Summer back in May of this year, I assume Res didn’t quite fall victim to the music industry tactic of artists releasing waves of hastily recorded tributes that far too often seem to be self serving to capitalize on a moment. This Danophonic produced house music remake of Donna Summer’s 1979 classic “On The Radio” sounds nothing like the original, but that’s also a part of charm of Res’s remake & what makes this remix of sorts sound so special. Res put her own creative spin on the classic & I’m positive Donna Summer would appreciate how it feels like Res took her time with it & genuinely executed the classic in her own creative flavor. This remix needs some love “On The Radio”…
Alternative/Hip Hop: Jonathan Lee – “Yellow Brick Road” (EP)
All Jonathan Lee asked of us is an honest listen. We did and were rewarded. The producer-artist from Victoria, British Columbia (Canada), has the gift and puts it down on his EP “Yellow Brick Road.” Sounds good. Electro Hip-Hop pop that gives off a Kid Cudi vibe at times. For an independent producer with good work & able to secure features from the likes of YMCMB’s ‘Shanell,’ Pharrell & Diplo’s favorite band ‘Mansions On The Moon,’ (Their one of Jayforce’s favs too), N.E.R.D.’s ‘Christian Rich’ and Timbaland’s artist ‘SoShy’ he’s off to a great start! Sounds dope! Check it out and enjoy!

R&B/Soul: yU – “Dreams” feat. Danedra Rowell
In a departure from the boom bap we’ve come to expect, yU sets Danedra Rowell on lead vocals for “Dreams†– a rap-free melancholy melody on how we had bigger dreams when were younger… too young to fully understand them. Shout to Kevin Nottingham for the scoop on this gem.

Alternative/Soul: Lianne La Havas – “Is Your Love Big Enough?” (Video)
Caught wind of the buzz on this single just doing my thing online. A Facebook friend inboxed me… hours later I got an email… and saw a Facebook wall post for “Is Your Love Big Enough?” Figured I better get on the job and check it out. The song’s performer, alternative folk and soul singer/songwriter/instrumentalist Lianne La Havas, was born and raised in London, England, the daughter of a Jamaican mother and Greek father. Recently, “Is Your Love Big Enough?” (La Havas’ debut album for Warner Brothers) was released in the U.K. in July 2012; followed up with a U.S. release earlier this month. The single and full length (both carrying the same title) are available now via iTunes. Lianne La Havas is currently on tour across Europe. Saw no U.S. dates on her site yet, but who knows? For now, take a chance to get up on this talent before she makes her way to the states.
