Welcome To ‘Atlanta’ (Narrated By DJ SpeakerFoxxx) [Video]
Terminus City. Atlanta. ATL. Always at the forefront of culture and their own cool. It ain’t just the home of OutKast. My Homegirl DJ SpeakerFoxxx narrated this piece for Guardian. Uncensored … includes the influence of strip clubs in ATL.
R&B: Jhené Aiko – “Comfort Inn Ending” (Freestyle) [Video]
“Why would you call it love when you knew it wasn’t?” – Jhené Aiko
Uh ohhh. Hell hath NO fury… like a woman scorned… or crying… or ready to scratch and scorch your sh!t. But the music and vibe for this Jhené Aiko video for “Comfort Inn Ending” (Freestyle) is still hella nice. And Aiko… still hella cute. Keep your keys in your pocket though.
Phantogram – “Fall In Love” (Produced By Brooke McDaniel) [Video]
This is the new eclectic visual for “Fall In Love” off Phantogram’s new album “Voices.”

Alternative/Hip-Hop/Soul: The Love Machine Project – “Earth” (Video)
Indie singer/songwriter Candice Anitra and conscious rapper/producer Mustafa “Effortless” Shakir have teamed up, as The Love Machine Project; putting out an eclectic EP they call “Love Machine.” Check out this music video for a single from the EP entitled “Earth.” Good interview on the two for you to watch after the jump, too.

R&B/Alternative: Blood Orange – “Chamakay” ft. Caroline Polachek (Video)
Believe it or not I just heard this song for the first time a couple of days ago. This “Chamakay” is a very dope song from Blood Orange… off the album, “Cupid Deluxe.”
R&B/Alternative: Marz Lovejoy – “Discouraged” [Video]
New visuals (shot in her birth state of Minnesota) for California singer Marz Lovejoy. Om’Mas Keith (with Mike Swoop) on production. The new single is “Discouraged.†Look for her debut LP – “elePhant Soundz” – to drop in 2014. Looking for this single? How ’bout now-ish? On iTunes.
R&B: Jean Deaux – “Grape Soda” (Prod. By Tim Suby)
Chicago artist Jean Deaux offers alternative-styled soul served up as song in her latest work – entitled “Grape Soda.†She sorta took Vic Mensa’s “Soda” track’s name; but not much else. Production by Tim Suby.
R&B/Alternative: Bosco – “Slippin'” (Prod. By NEVRNEVR) [Video]
Haunting vocals like a light breeze and visuals from Atlanta songstress Bosco. Looks like this came straight off a dreamscape; delivered as a multimedia experience of soothing sight and sound. This is the video for “Slippin’.” Producer: NEVRNEVR.
Alternative/Funk: Sunni Colón – “Blow/Fantasy” (Produced By Patrick Lukens x Sunni Colòn)
Sunni Colòn… You’ll swear you hear Prince on the track, too; but it’s just him. The man drops a two’fer – two tracks in one release – entitled “Blow†and “Fantasy,†respectively. Patrick Lukens aids Sunni in this progressive/rock/funk double-production.
SUNNI COLON – BLOW/FANTASY (PROD. BY PATRICK LUKENS X SUNNI COLON)
The Other Guys – “Memories Fade” feat. yU x Substantial
Score another scoop for Bad Magics. This particular single “Memories Fade” is a favorite of mine off The Other Guys’ EP entitled “The Opposite of Sex.”
“Sex is the mere reason for man’s existence today, naturally throughout life and its pleasures its opposite pain rears its ugly head. One can’t fully appreciate the pleasures of life with out feeling some pain in between.”

Knifefight – “Knifefight” (EP)
My folks over at Bad Magics not only hip me to the latest from undergrounders that I know… but also to artists and trends that I should get to know. Take this self-titled collaborative EP “Knifefight” – experimental abstract offering from the duo consisting of Beans (the native New York emcee) and Mux Mool (the Minnesota producer). Though this work is barely in my range of comprehension, I’m told these guys have been much farther off the grid. Their typical sound tastes bounce between and sometimes blend electronic with futuristic Star Trek 24th century vibes with street grime with funk. The tone is usually dark but said of this project…
“It’s the most relaxed, fun and playful album I’ve ever done, but it’s still hard enough to feel like a knife fight, y’know.â€
– Beans
Hey, what’s good is good. And this is good… in any century. Check it out.
Kanye West Explains The True Musical Direction Of ‘Yeezus’ on BBC Radio With Zane Lowe (Video)
There’s some people who I’ve heard say that Kanye West’s new album ‘Yeezus’ was not very good, but often times I find the people making that assessment ONLY listen to rap & suffer from having a very limited worldview & musical palette. I have friends here in the states & overseas who love the ‘Yeezus’ album’s alternative & experimental musical direction. I dig the record but it’s important for me to note that I don’t listen to it with a hip hop enthusiast’s ear. Great artists are supposed to go against the grain of what everyone else is doing no matter if the final critiques are good or bad. Needless to say I was not surprised to hear BBC Radio host Zane Lowe rave about the album to Kanye in this in-depth interview as well. From many people I know around the world the ‘Yeezus’ album is very popular because it’s not a modern day rap album musically. The album strays from the typical ‘trap sound’ permeating commercial radio airwaves in the states & sticks out within Kanye’s own catalog. Check out the video above as this is just part 1 of a 4 part interview. More videos below…

R&B/Alternative: Superhumanoids – ‘Bad Weather’ (Scoop DeVille RMX)
Scoop Deville refixes the Superhumanoids’ track “Bad Weather” (original version available on the Superhumanoids’ LP “Exhibitionists”) to give it an alternative soul-meets-Hip-Hop feel. Check it out. Pretty dope.
R&B/Alternative: The Internet – “Partners In Crime Part Two”
Syd The Kid and Matt Martians (collectivized as The Internet) drop something new repping the Odd Future crew. Smoothed out jazziness from the duo entitled “Partners In Crime Part Two.” Shout to SoulBounce for the scoop.
R&B/Alternative: BOSCO – “Black Bookâ€
Atlanta’s own soulful songbird BOSCO is back with a nice track, “Black Book.†The Interwebs note nothing of a project from BOSCO on the horizon. But bob and sway with this for now. It’s good. It’s FREE by the way.

Terry Crews Stars As ‘Major Lazer’ (Video)
It’s a TV show teaser… no wait, a music video for “Scare Me†featuring raunchy dancehall queen Timberlee and Peaches. Whatever it is, it’s got DC Comics’ cyber-warrior Major Lazer brought to life in HD by Terry Crews. The visuals have ‘opening credits’ and what is, in effect, a mini-pilot of the Major Lazer TV show… which may or may not be a real show (but might make a cool one). Check it out!
“Scare Me” is available on the “Free The Universe” LP by Major Lazer (out on iTunes now).
