Damon Dash Shares How He fights Custody Battle Without Lawyer (Video)
In interviews Damon Dash has been making the headlines for the topics he discusses. Â Some agree some don’t but most of the Blogs and Gossip sites love to use his words to stir traffic not really investigating his true talking points. Â Well Dr. Boyce Watkins has reached out to Dame Dash allowing him to discuss issues on his platform. Â This is not a pair of people you would expect to partner up but I am happy to see it. Â In this video Damon Dash explains how he is fighting for custody of his daughters without a lawyer. Â He gives some detailed facts on what fathers can and must do to see their children in custody battles. Â He is upfront with the fact that the courts will frustrate you but you must have patience and remember that your child is the ultimate prize. Â I am not saying that Damon Dash is who you should pattern your legal battles after but if you took the time to watch interviews with him yelling at someone how about watching a video where he is imploring men to fight to see their children legally!
Dr. Boyce Watkins talks Finance, Black Masculinity, Racism & More on The Breakfast Club (Video)
There has been a lot of talk about Black ownership and financial freedom sparked from the Damon Dash interview he did on The Breakfast Club. Â It set off a firestorm on social media some people being inspired and some comical moments with the hashtag #TweetLikeDameDash. Â With all of that said Dame brought up some good topics and Dr Boyce Watkins helped to bring some perspective to the conversation. Â He has a PhD in finance and owns his own business Financial Juneteenth. Â Dr Boyce discussed obstacles like Racism & White Supremacy that play a part in blacks becoming financially independent. Â He does not make excuses though and agrees with Dame Dash in regards to Black Men & Women having the be their own Boss mindset. Â Overall it is a great discussion between Angela Yee, Envy, Charlagmagne & Dr Boyce Watkins a breath of fresh air rather than mindless gossip talk.
Hidden Colors 4: The Religion of White Supremacy (Trailer)
Well when it comes to movies or documentaries about Black History a majority of them deal with the same Civil Rights struggle or blacks in slavery stories. Â Both are part of Black history but not the only story and the Hidden Colors documentary series has done a great job covering information/history. Â The first three have been critically acclaimed with subtitles like “The Triumph of Melanin” & “The Rules of Racism” with the latest installment titled “The Religion of White Supremacy” that should be released later this year. Â Tariq Nasheed the creator & director of the Hidden Colors series has already confirmed speakers like Dr. Umar Johnson, Dr. Francis Cress Welding & Phil Valentine who have all participated in the first three. Â He has promise some new speakers with this upcoming edition. Â If you watched Hidden Colors three you saw how he surprised us by having the rappers Nas & David Banner discussing Racism. Â Who know he might have them back and other surprise rappers. Â Here is a link to a kickstarter that he has for the funding of volume 4 Click Here.

Wow! Anybody not awake yet? Well, wake them up and make sure they don’t miss this @ArtByOdell recommended documentary. It’s not about lack of jobs. It’s about lack of control. And even in Washington DC, almost half the populous has neither. Well, there’s that one Black man in DC with a job on Pennsylvania Avenue. But if you aren’t living where he is, you will probably get something from watching this documentary.

Baked Alaska (Documentary)
It all started with “…f#ck it I quit.”
Never thought a weed head would say that, did ya? Hahaaa! True, Charlo Greene did not quit her relationship with Mary Jane. In fact, she started (actually, kicked into overdrive) a public debate/campaign for Alaska’s legalization of marijuana. She had to quit her job as a television reporter to do it…
…or did she? Her quitting was a media and viral video score for her cause (good PR strategy).
On November 4, 2014, the state of Alaska was faced with a ballot measure to potentially make recreational marijuana legal. In this episode of Weediquette, we follow democracy in action through the eyes of Charlo Greene.
Greene became the firebrand folk hero of the “Yes on 2” movement after she famously quit her job as a news reporter on the air to run a cannabis club. VICE travels to Alaska to follow Charlo, and along the way we meet a cast of Alaskan natives who all have something at stake in this election.

NYC Ferguson Protests (Mini-Documentary)
Ambient music as the backdrop for this moving picture portrait of the Ferguson-sparked protests that took place on the streets and bridges of New York (New York, USA). Improvised piano performed as the score by Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange.
Yasiin Bey Speaks On Ferguson, Michael Brown And Eric Garner
It’s only right we hear the considered words of Yasiin Bey on recent reminders of tragic realities of being Black in America. He uses the word ‘reaffirming’ – as in confirmation things have been eff’d up for Black folks here. But that realization is spoken (with noteworthy quotes laced into the mini-speech) to powerfully by Brother Bey here.
“Where are we? We are at a critical time. We are at a watershed moment… been here longer than we realize…”

Jay Smooth Breaks Down Ferguson, The Riots, & People Being Pushed To Their Absolute Boiling Point (Video)
Jay Smooth always comes correct with the insightful social commentary on a variety of topics & events. The recent riots & protests taking place around the country in relation to what’s happening in Ferguson, Missouri is no different. I couldn’t relay my thoughts as perfectly as Jay Smooth did here in his latest opinion piece. I agree with him 100%
Samuel King – “What I Wasn’t Taught In School” (Video)
OMG! This was me in secondary school. Can’t help but laugh a bit. But this Samuel King… some serious business with the message he’s delivering in this dramatic spoken word piece delivered in a classroom setting.
A Spoken word short film for those frustrated at Black History teaching in schools. Disillusioned student Samuel King relays his grievances to his teacher that Black History Month isn’t taught with as much depth and with as much pride in schools. Samuel engages in a short rebuttal with his teacher, before arguing that education in school does little to satisfy his thirst for knowledge of influential people in Black history who seem to be elusive in the curriculum.
“There seems to be a lot you haven’t told us, and you shut down and hold back on the bold ones who stand against the way you’re trying to mold us.”
Great video. A must watch!
Live From China: Dog Meat Festival (Documentary)
“It’s meaty… horribly, horribly meaty… mixed with that familiar doggy smell…”
Okay. Westerners may need to settle themselves and their stomachs. And open their minds. Yes. It’s just as you’d suspect: VICE is at a meat market (in the Chinese province of Yulin) where they butcher and sell dogs to lots and lots of people who eat them. You will hear shocking terms used… like tasty… and healthy…
No judgements. Okay, that’s bull… but watch the video expo though. It’s VICE, so you know the reporting will come at the story from a different perspective that might cause you to rethink. Compelling.
(Gotta say… the reporter, Izzy Yeung, is hella cute.)

Politics/Activism: Comedian Lewis Black Says, ‘F#%! Voter Suppression!’ (Video)
No need for a political action committee (PAC) to raise a ruckus… just raise the ire of a politically informed sharp-tongued don’t give a WHAT comedian, like Lewis Black; and step back! By this video’s end, I hope you are laughing; because that’s what Mr. Black does for a living. BUT, I also hope you are thinking… no GOING to vote this November. Remember, this ain’t the sexy elect-the-first-whatever election. This is to elect Congresspeople, state and local officials – folks whose decisions (or indecision) DIRECTLY affect our lives. Folks who are only a short drive, and a kicked-in door frame, away. Vote for ’em and stay on ’em and you WILL get results. You want to get active about Trayvon and stand-your-ground? About Ferguson and Mike Brown? About your car’s license tag tax being so costly? About your f#cked up dimly lit roads full of potholes?
WELL GET MAD LIKE LEWIS AND GO VOTE! You don’t even have to fight cops, dogs and fire hoses. But you DO have to show up for the fight! Bring your ID (why wouldn’t you?), your voter registration card (order a copy if necessary), your decisions on the candidates and bills on the ballot (read a paper, Google, watch some local debates), and your not-gone-let-nobody-turn-me-around attitude to your polling place (call your City Hall and ask them, if you don’t know where that is) on November 4, 2014.
Otherwise, those who do show up (and yeah; it’ll probably be folks controlled/brainwashed by those WAY richer than you) WILL vote. And in that case the ‘privileged’ few, having spent gobs of dollars to keep you and your people away from the polls (again), will WIN. Again. And that’ll be on you. But not me… Not on my watch!

Joe Rogan – American War Machine (Video)
“It’s a clusterf#ck man…”
Joe Rogan speaking some HARD truths! The brainwashing of an already ill-informed and improperly motivated U.S. populace, considering the tragedies that happen overseas ‘less tragic’ than if they happened on U.S. soil, the military industrial complex… Damn. That warfare scenery Joe uses as a backdrop is very appropriate; because he dropped some bombs and let off some shots from this loaded clip.
Yeah, Joe usually tells jokes; but this is serious. Prepare yourself. Now hit play above.
Beatnick x K-Salaam – “Checkpoints: Ghetto To Gaza” feat. Talib Kweli x M1 (Of Dead Prez) [Video]
A checkpoint, a checkpoint, everywhere a checkpoint…
The visuals for “Checkpoints” probably bring to light what most of us probably know (a reality of which we are informed or numbed enough to no longer fear): a ghetto is a ghetto. And the ghetto (be it in yesteryear Germany; or today’s Gaza or Ferguson) is where the real casualties of war take place. Where we are being killed in government sanctioned ways… oppressive poverty, lacking nutrition and education, youth roaming the streets… unprotected from danger… from those meant to protect and serve… either the government chooses to do something, or chooses NOT to do something, about what’s going on in the ghetto (here or there, now or then; no difference).
Who would speak truth on a track with themes like that? Guess. A Beatnick & K-Salaam track. Talib Kweli and M1 added on. C’mon! Single out on iTunes now. Video above. Full-length on the way.
Watch to the end.
