An Anti-Facist Film’s Message We Need To Hear… Today! (Video)
“When that first minority lost out… everybody lost out.”
At the risk of piling on… Michael Moore said it so right in our post on here: If you are not going to say that what went down in Charlottesville was wrong (not on both sides, Mr. President; the NEO-NAZI side), you are pretty much on the wrong side! Turn it around. Don’t support racists, Neo-whatevers… none of that. Do the right thing: Stand with the right. The right side of the aisle, if you like; but at least be on the right side of HISTORY!
And speaking of history, watch the above clip. And by all means… DON’T BE A SUCKER!

Michael Moore Calls A Racist A Racist, All Of Them… And Those Who Will Not Denounce Them (Video)
Anybody who enables, anybody who votes for and supports a racist, is a racist.
– Michael Moore
The controversial filmmaker Moore has never had a problem calling it how he sees it. And in keeping with the lifted quote above, Moore is holding those who support the racist ralliers and those of their ilk – whether gathered at the Take ‘Murica Back rally in Charlottesville or not – just as guilty. Because #BlackLivesMatter or #AllLivesMatter or whatever matters to you aside, the venomous speech, vitriolic tone and victimization of those hurt by Neo-Nazi words and a wildly driven car… well, that all happened. And if you are not denouncing that, you are tacitly supporting it.

Live Footage From ‘United We Stand: Rally for Colin Kaepernick’ (Video)
When does a protest gesture become a movement? When others get involved. Rosa Parks took a stand by refusing to stand and go to the back of the bus, then boycott, then movement. Kaep took a stand by taking a knew because he felt he could no longer stand our American nightmare (injustice, police brutality) that is our current situation. You have no doubt heard talk about boycotting the NFL. Do we now have a movement?
Time will tell. But for right now, we do have a rally. Check it out.
We’re live at the NFL headquarters in NYC as demonstrators rally in support of unsigned quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Theo E.J. Wilson’s TED Talk About Insights He Gained From Infiltrating The Alt-Right (Video)
“I became Lucius25, White supremacist lurker, and digitally I began to infiltrate the infamous alt-right movement.”
— Theo E.J. Wilson
Interesting point Wilson makes not too far in. The things we see online today are fed to us by an algorithm that determines what we might buy, and what we want to see & hear, and feeds us mre and more of that… and just that. So liberal feed fed Theo comes up with the idea of creating Lucius25 super-racist, and troll those who would troll him.
And he came to a new understanding about it all. Very interesting watch!

Ice-T’s TEDxSingSing Talk On ‘Surviving’ (Video)
Recent throwback TEDx talk from Ice T. Great insights and a very worthwhile watch. In fact, I should not have even mentioned the throwback aspect. Relevant to today. Hear some real life struggles from the former light-skinned, light-eyed little kid named Tracy who had to turn gangsta just to survive growing up.

Cover Story: Climate Gentrification Is Pushing Black Residents Out Of Little Haiti (Video)
Climate change is threatening Miami’s Black neighborhoods. Some fear they’ll be pushed out of their homes by climate gentrification. pic.twitter.com/AfZrAigCPi

It’s like we’re coming to an end, right? Little Haiti will be wiped away.
– Valencia Gunder
Redlining, gentrification… and now climate gentrification? Damn! Black folks can’t catch a break, can we? Pushed off living on the beach, being pushed out of where they eventually settled, and now the WEATHER is a driving force displacing the residents of Little Haiti in Florida. See the insights and angles explored in this mini-documentary from The Root. It was made with support from Participant Media, creator of “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” (the follow-up to that first film former Vice President Al Gore did: “An Inconvenient Truth”).
VICE News Reports On ‘Race and Terror’ In Charlottesville (Video)
Here is a VICE News piece on the protests, counter-protests, why everyone is REALLY there, the points of view, passionate responses and tragedy coming out of Charlottesville.
On Saturday hundreds of white nationalists, alt-righters, and neo-Nazis traveled to Charlottesville, Virginia to participate in the “Unite the Right†rally. By Saturday evening three people were dead – one protester, and two police officers – and many more injured.
– VICE News
The lens through which we observe events that affect us should be handled responsibly. The lens in this instance is journalistic reporting. There is stuff we ought to know. A free press should (read again: SHOULD) keep our eyes on what is important, tell us why, and provide proper focus long enough for us to make up our own minds about it. Extending the metaphor, the lens should be kept clear of clutter so we can see the TRUTH. That truth is left to each of us to find for ourselves.
On what’s going on in Charlottesville, VICE News does that. Like they always do: They go to the hot spot and embed, clear out the clutter and show us what it going on and why we should care; and viewers can go from there. Elle Reeve was there for VICE News to show us the raw truth, including what everyone said… including the U.S. President and White supremacist leader Chris Cantwell. Their words. Footage of actions and aftermath. Truthfully presented. Point blank period.
(You will likely feel enraged, sad, confused, helpless, or some combination. But if you feel anything like akin to Cantwell’s smirk at the end of this piece, LEAVE. And NEVER come back!
Flasback 1954: The Secret Of Selling The Negro (Lifted From The ‘I Am Not Your Negro’ Documentary) [Video]
You just have to watch this and take it in. It is from a bygone era, so do not terminology totally get you in your feelings. Realize though, that this was a way the ‘market opportunity’ the Black consumer segment was presented.
Film commissioned by the Chicago-based publisher of Negro Digest, Ebony, and Jet to encourage advertisers to reach out to African American consumers. The Secret of Selling the Negro depicts the lives, activities, and consumer behavior of African American professionals, students, and housewives. A Business Screen reviewer noted that the film focused on the “bright positive†aspects of the “new Negro family.â€
NOTE: The sponsor issued a companion booklet offering the “do’s and don’ts of selling to the Negro.â€

Wow. This explains why we MUST have those sneakers or fly jewelry or whatever… Not bad, all things considered. Actually really insightful.
David Bamberger Shows How He Brought Life Back To The Barren Texas Hill Country (Video)
Kind of cool. You know, in our posting about colonizing Mars we probably should be talking more about making the unlivable land inhabitable. Kind of like David is doing here. A bit easier to do on Earth, what with the breathable air, centuries of civilized existence, and access to society making inputs on the same planet. Still, David boldly went on his mission to make a natural paradise of the rough Texas Hill Country.
Almost 50 years ago, fried chicken tycoon David Bamberger used his fortune to purchase 5,500 acres of overgrazed land in the Texas Hill Country. Planting grasses to soak in rains and fill hillside aquifers, Bamberger devoted the rest of his life to restoring the degraded landscape. Today, the land has been restored to its original habitat and boasts enormous biodiversity. Bamberger’s model of land stewardship is now being replicated across the region and he is considered to be a visionary in land management and water conservation.

Comedian Hari Kondabolu’s Movie Will Explain “The Problem With Apu” To Us (Trailer)
It’s funny because it’s racist.
Folks (let’s call them ‘the majority’) would probably murmur or outright tell Hari Kondabolu he is being too sensitive about The Simpsons cartoon character Apu; that he should ‘let it go’ as it is ‘just comedy’). But Hari Kondabolu, in fact, HAS let it go. He has let it go for 20+ years. Enough is enough.
So, he made a movie about it. Watch the trailer for it above.
American Experience: Last Days in Vietnam (Documentary Trailer)
Documentarian Rory Kennedy gives us an in-depth look at the final days of the American presence in Saigon. It’s a story where simply following orders would play opposite to doing the right thing. And what do you think heroes do? Could those soldiers and support personnel have lived with themselves getting out safely while leaving South Vietnamese in harm’s way? Even if ordered to do so?
In April of 1975, the North Vietnamese Army was closing in on Saigon as South Vietnamese resistance was crumbling. Approximately 5,000 Americans remained with roughly 24 hours to get out. Their South Vietnamese allies, co-workers, and friends faced certain imprisonment and possible death if they remained behind. With no official evacuation plan in place, the clock ticking, and the city under fire, a number of heroic Americans took matters into their own hands, engaging in unsanctioned and often makeshift operations in a desperate effort to save as many people as possible. In those last days in Vietnam, 135,000 men, women and children managed to escape.

Watch A Presentation Of Langston Hughes’ Poem “Let America Be America Again” (Video)
Activist poet Langston Hughes wrote this poem, so the words are poignant and so on point. But respect to Oscar-nominated Alfre Woodard for speaking power to them! You feel the power, not by volume or forced tone, but the yearning and resolve she communicates as she reads…
“Let America be America again — the land that never has been yet — and yet must be.”
Appropriate. Just a week after America’s Independence Day. Watch, listen, feel, think. And when the opportunity comes (or you make it), ACT!

Dr. Umar Johnson Responds To His Critics And Doubters (Video)
Trust. Umar Johnson has been Umar Johnson since before he was Dr. Umar Johnson. Consistency and frankness are his hallmarks. ‘People pleasing’ not as much (ha). In this video, he offers an answer to every question/challenge. Whether you or we or anyone likes it or agrees or not… dude is what he is and speaks on it. And while that might be his ‘problem’ to lots of folks, it seems alright to him.
Black Twitter unleashed on activist and philosopher Umar Johnson after his appearance on The Breakfast Club. On Monday, Dr. Umar Johnson sat down for a one-on-one interview with Roland Martin to discuss his controversial Breakfast Club interview, educational credentials, the school he said he was starting and more.
– Roland Martin
An engaging clip to watch. Dr. Johnson knows how to stir up a room, right? Wowww.
Umar Johnson had Roland so FLUSTERED on tv today Roland LITERALLY started saying “Ba-deep-Ba-deep” at the 10:50 markhttps://t.co/O1x0xvVFzx
— Black Authority (@TheBlackChannel) July 10, 2017
And after the jump, we hear from a guy who says neither Dr. Johnson nor Mr. Martin really likes him – Dr. Boyce Watkins. Some real talk there. Among other things, Dr. Watkins is down for causes, actions, and views with which he agrees… Not wholly for or against anyone as a person. Respect. His words are strong below, too. Full disclosure.
Dr. Umar Johnson Speaks On Racism & Economics Holding Back Black People Worldwide And More (Video)
Wow! China is not treating Brothers and Sisters well. Let’s start there Dr. Johnson. And Angela Yee’s dad is of Chinese descent. Wowwww. Check out Dr. Umar Johnson speaking on folks getting over on Black people across the globe and more above.
But before you go blaming it all on ‘them’… keep watching, because we have and can play a part in our condition. We have to stop looking to ‘outside investment’ or President Trump (or Obama) or anyone other than us to lift us up!
Chadwick Boseman Tells The Story Of Activist, Attorney & Supreme Court Judge Thurgood Marshall (Trailer)
— Marshall Movie (@MarshallMovie) June 21, 2017
It would be kind of cool if Chadwick Boseman were to do a Black Panther movie… Nah, not Marvel Universe’s T’Challa one (that’s coming soon); but a fight-for-Civil-Rights-era Black Panther. But just as cool, if not cooler, Boseman got tapped for this “Marshall” movie – about Thurgood Marshall, an icon who fought for our Civil Rights via the U.S. court system.
Trailer looks good. Gotta check for this!

Pusha T Speaks On His ‘Run For the Oceans’ And Says “King Push” Is 85% Complete (Video)
Interesting. Instead of moping about ‘taking the L’ in the recent U.S. Presidential election, Pusha T is getting into being more ‘self-governing’ and pushing the causes he is interested in (with no more ties to the White House)… and partnering with companies in line with them.
Adidas and Parley join forces to help draw attention to and preserve the world’s oceans. Pusha T performs and speaks on the importance of brand activism and his love for Adidas.

Hmm… Push drones on and on a bit about Yeezy’s beats being the driver for choosing his production to dominate the forthcoming album… over his OGs The Neptunes (Chad Hugo, Pharrell Williams). Not disrespectful really. Kanye is a well-known worldwide all-time beast on them beatz. But, maybe, someone might feel slightly slighted with how ‘energetic’ Push got when he got the question. Just saying.
