It’s not every day a relatively new artist can successfully execute a remake of a classic song. Stacy Barthe is not your everyday singer & songwriter so I knew she would kill this cover of one of Anita Baker’s signature records. I’m definitely a fan of Stacy Barthe’s music so it’s a dope surprise she has more amazing work coming with her first official major release. If you’ve been following JAYFORCE.COM regularly then you already know I’m a fan of Stacy Barthe’s music. The Grammy nominated singer & songwriter has been crafting huge hits for various names in the game from Rihanna, Katy Perry, Britney Spears & more. She even was the voice on the hook of the T.I. & Andre 3000 standout collaboration “Sorry” although she wasn’t initially listed on the credits. It goes without saying she’s been in the background far too long. This new record “Hell Yeah” produced by K. Roosevelt featuring Rick Ross should help bring more attention her way further highlighting just how talented this woman is. This joint is solid & Rick Ross doesn’t sound out of place on this soulful joint. Stacy is now signed to John Legend’s HomeSchool/Motown label & things appear to be moving as she’s set to release her upcoming “P.S., I Love You” EP on Valentines Day. Good music, real lyrics, great vocals….yeah it’s a wRAP.

Songwriter Stacy Barthe is largely known behind the scenes for penning some great songs for Rihanna & numerous artists in the music business. Not surprisingly the songs she wrote for Rihanna were the only one’s I dug from Rihanna the most. Now Stacy Barthe is stepping out from behind the scenes of her Surf Club writing team to focus on her own singing talents in releasing this new video for “Never Did” off of her “Sincerely Yours, Stacy Barthe” EP. Personally I would like to see her have a creative video for “Without You” featuring Frank Ocean or “The Only One” which are my personal favorites from her EP. But after watching this video she maybe doing just that in setting up all the songs in parts like a short film of sorts…

This week music journalist & film director Rahiem Shabazz stopped by to talk about his new documentary called ‘Elementary Genocide’ that tackles the prison industrial complex problem & it’s wildly conspicuous path from the classroom to the jail cell.
Our second guest on the show was Brooklyn, New York hip hop artist BK Brasco. The Brownsville, Brooklyn native delivered some insight on his background, spoke with us about traveling the world while working with producer Timbaland & collaborating with artists like Pusha T, Mario, & Stacy Barthe while shedding more insight on his new project called “18th Floor Thompson Hotel”
