Now, I am Stetsa Crew loyal for LIFE! Love Stetsasonic. So, I can admit to being torn about this. But not so much; need to hear who Daddy-O is thinking is #1. Besides, the throne is not truly the throne if it cannot be challenged. Word to Wakanda. The title of ‘greatest’ or ‘best’ or whatever MUST be able to be called into question if we are going to acknowledge or crown any royalty in Hip-Hop.
And that’s not even the controversy here. It’s the allegation that the G.O.D.M.C. lied. Watch and see exactly how Stet frontman Daddy-O says Rakim Allah lied…

Rakim (on the list, in the title) said that in his rhyme. And at its foundations, real MC-ing, THAT’S HIP-HOP! I like the energy of this debate as much as the content. Vlad and RA get it in!

When the G.O.D.M.C. aka The 18th Letter aka Rakim Allah speaks, especially on Hip-Hop, it’s worth taking heed. Well, Keenan Higgins over at Green Label Sounds did more than take heed. He took notes! Wrote up an article chock full of insight.
I just need younger artists to understand the power that they have. What you’re saying, people are listening to. Don’t take it for granted that you just writing rhymes. Young kids are listening. Y’all are influencing a lot of people, so watch what you say.

‘Another classic unreleased Rakim song from my archive.“Get Visual” is the third song out of four I recorded with Rakim. This would later turn up on the “18th Letter” Album as “When I’m Flowin.”‘

“What’s Wrong,†was initially produced and recorded for Rakim’s “Seventh Seal†(2009) LP, but due to clearance issues was nixed from the retail release of the project. It has since sat dormant until Rakim gave the track back to Marco and he decided to use it for his forthcoming free-LP “Newport Authority 2†as Marco states “I’ve recorded so much quality material over the last few years and I really want to share it all. It couldn’t all possibly fit on “Port Authority 2â€; hence “Newport Authority 2†came to be.â€
“Newport Authority 2†will feature appearances from Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Artifacts, Das Efx, Lil Fame (M.O.P.), Torae & Ruste Juxx all rocking over Marco’s production.
Yet, the project everyone should really be excited for is Marco’s “Port Authority 2†LP which will be released this spring on Soulspazm Records. “Port Authority 2†features appearances from Organized Konfusion (yes, a new Oragnized Konfusion track!!), Gangrene, Talib Kweli, DJ Premier, Masta Ace, Posdnuos (De La Soul), Kardinal Offishal, Styles P, Nature, Rah Digga, Slaine, Celph Titled, Ill Bill, Large Professor, Inspectah Deck, O.C. & many many more.

‘In the second installment of Marley Marl “Classic Recipes,” he shows you how he produced “Eric B. Is President” in 1986, the debut single for legendary hip hop duo Eric B. & Rakim. Marl talks about meeting Rakim for the first time and discusses the collaborative process with Eric B. that would yield one of the most influential Hip-Hop tracks ever. “Eric B. Is President” combines a bassline from Fonda Rae’s bonafide 1982 club hit “Over Like a Fat Rat” and a beat from James Brown’s 1974 hit “Funky President.”‘
