Tall Black Guy – “Desperte se Rápido” (Instrumental)
From his 11-track digital album, “Brazilian Chronicles” (out now), Tall Black Guy releases this instrumental gem, “Desperte se Rápido.” A nice uplifting message at the end, too. The commentary at the ends sounds like the voice of Bobby McFerrin but I could be wrong though. You can get “Brazilian Chronicles” – a montage of Brazilian-sampled music (including “Desperte se Rápido”) – by following the link provided here.

Kid Cudi – “Just What You Made” feat. King Chip
I pressed play on this joint from my laptop while sitting on the balcony of my friend’s high rise apartment peeping the Atlanta skyline. At that very moment & with the environment I was already in at the time this song was perfect. I had to replay it back several more times. Traditional Cudi fans shouldn’t be disappointed with this at all featuring the artist formerly known as Chip The Ripper aka King Chip. As a fan of Kid Cudi’s first two ‘Man On The Moon’ albums, my ears are ready for something new from the G.O.O.D. music artist. In a recent interview with Complex who debuted the track, Kid Cudi mentioned that he’s gonna try something a little different from his style on his next album entitled ‘Indicud’. I’m not mad at the old style as long as whatever he’s cooking up sounds good.

HBO’s Hardknocks: Miami Dolphins Episode One (Video)
With the recent arrest of Chad Ochocinco Johnson for allegedly headbutting his wife Evelyn Lozada following an argument over a receipt for a box of condoms, I couldn’t help but think of the first episode of HBO’s Hardknocks series covering the Miami Dolphins this season. Chad Ochocinco was picked up by the Miami Dolphins after having an off year with the New England Patriots last season. With his month long marriage to his wife & joining the Dolphins in his hometown of Miami, it felt like it would be a positive new start for Chad to get back to being the premier wide receiver he once was in the NFL. Chad has been in the league for years now, but he’s rarely ever had any off-the-field troubles that put him in negative light until now. Ironically he predicted he would be arrested in this episode of HBO’s Hardknocks around the 40:25 mark.

DJ Khaled – “Hip Hop” feat. Scarface x Nas x DJ Premier (Produced By Justice League)
This banger right here will arguably be the most talked about track on DJ Khaled’s upcoming album ‘Kiss The Ring’. I’ve dug a few songs here & there that DJ Khaled has orchestrated in the past, but this joint right here with Nas, Scarface, DJ Premier, & The Justice League is just straight bananas! Scarface’s vocal presence is perfect, Nas’s lyrical lamentations about hip hop are priceless, The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. Leagues sonic production feels like a grand event, & DJ Premier’s perfectly placed scratching on the track is the cherry on top of this ill grand production right here. You don’t always have to be a producer that touches hundreds of buttons to put together quality work, but DJ Khaled proves with this joint that sometimes having a grand vision is all it takes. Check out the behind the scenes video of how it all came together HERE

Behind The Scenes: The Making Of ‘Hip Hop’ With Nas x Scarface x Justice League x DJ Premier (Video)
DJ Khaled’s new album ‘Kiss The Ring’ is on the way, but the track that everyone is talking about is the collaboration he orchestrated with Nas, Scarface, DJ Premier, & the production team Justice League. When I first heard this song I knew it was a definite banger! I’ve often said that sometimes being a good producer doesn’t always involve touching a lot of buttons & equipment, but people who have a great vision can score big. Rick Rubin is a producer who doesn’t play any instruments, but he has great vision & a good ear. Props to DJ Khaled for having the vision for this banger right here. Check the video….

Cardiak – “The Emergency Room” Vol. 1 (Instrumentals)
New Jersey’s own producer extraordinaire Cardiak has released his first all-instrumental download, “The Emergency Room” Vol. 1, featuring music for “Lean Wit It,” “600 Benz,” “Start It Up,” “Outlaw,” and more. The Willingboro, New Jersey (outside of Philadelphia) based producer is definitely seeing his stock rise so he’s letting loose some freebies for the emcees to get busy over or for those of us who dig his beats. My favorite is the ‘Lean Wit It’ joint he produced for Meek Mill. Also included in his new mixtape are beats that have never been heard prior to this release. Get “The Emergency Room” Vol. 1 by Cardiak right here or listen to the beats from the project below…

R&B: Lloyd – “Turn On The Lights” (Remix) [Video]
Lloyd did his thing on this remix of Future’s hit record “Turn On The Lights.” I was just mentioning on twitter that I could see reggae artist Mavado doing a very dope remix to Atlanta artist Future’s popular record. Apparently Lloyd didn’t waste anytime in showing how an R&B artist could flip it visually & sonically. You can download Future’s debut album, “Pluto,” from iTunes right now. We have the single for this video (featuring Lloyd), “Turn On The Lights (Remix)” for you right here.

J. Cole Rocks Lollapalooza (Video)
Sometimes it feels like J. Cole gets overlooked for regular radio airplay around the country & his popularity sometimes feels like it’s understated. If you needed any evidence of just how understated his popularity is just check out this Billboard clip of the North Carolina emcee & producer rocking this huge crowd in Chicago at Lollapalooza 2012. It’s always great to see true fans rock with an artist & can sing their songs verbatim. Niiice!
