Dr. Dre Lands On Forbes Top 5 Highest-Paid Celebrities List (Video)
Forbes magazine recently did their Top 5 Highest-Paid Celebrities list based on their fame & income. Former N.W.A. producer Dr. Dre came in at number 5 behind Oprah Winfrey, Jerry Bruckheimer, Michael Bay, & Steven Spielberg. Not bad company to be in at if you like counting other people’s money. It’s clear that Dr. Dre wasn’t just a figurehead who only owned .0000015 percent of the ‘Beats By Dre’ headphones company with Jimmy Iovine. He was truly an owner unlike most rappers or artist in the entertainment world who would like you to believe they own much more in their entrepreneurial endeavors. Props To HHNM

Patra feat. Delus – ‘Come Ova’ (Video)
The woman who rocked the braids with Yo-Yo, and who basically taught every American women how to wine in the 90s, is back with a new track and video. Come Ova features Delus who stands his ground, gives off good charisma and lends his unique voice to the single. Gotta shout out Latonya (aka Lattytude) and her crew First Class as she is one of the dancers in the video.
The track was also placed on the CY Evolution : Dancehall Series MIX CD #5 via JayForce.com. Follow them on twitter: @RealQueenPatra @DelusDJ @CYevolution
Dwele – “Obey”
Here’s another nice (and “naughty”) one off the Dwele album “Greater than One” (to which we posted a link here) entitled “Obey.”
Roc Marciano – “76”
New Roc Marciano single, “76,” will be released November 13, 2012, as part of the full-length, “Reloaded” (according to Pitchfork.com). Gulley flow over an airy track. Niceness!

T.I. Speaks On Mike Vick On ESPN’s ‘First Take’ (Video)
T.I. hits the nail on the head in speaking on Mike Vick: No athlete brought such energy to Atlanta’s sports scene since Dominique Wilkins. The city hasn’t been the same since he left. Mike Vick is a high-risk-high-reward player… excitement personified… and T.I. (and the rest of us) have come to accept that about his play. Throughout the segment, Stephen A. and Skip of ESPN’s ‘First Take’ advised that Vick ‘settle down’ and not take so many risks. But T.I. stuck to his guns; advocating that Vick play Vick’s game. This is dope commentary from T.I. But Stephen A. made a good point in this segment: This will be the second $100 Million contract for Mike Vick… with no Super Bowl appearance to show for it. The jig is up! Time to produce.
Bizarre Tribe: Amerigo Gazaway (of Gummy Soul) – “Runnin’”
As we approach the one year anniversary of 2011′s award winning “Fela Soul” release, we’re pleased to give you a sampling from Amerigo Gazaway’s upcoming mashup project, “Bizarre Tribe: A Quest to The Pharcyde†(due out September 13, 2012). Utilizing the original Jazz, Soul and Funk recordings sampled throughout A Tribe Called Quest’s extensive catalog, Gazaway recreates classic productions – pairing his reinterpreted instrumentals with select vocals from West Coast “golden era†favorites, The Pharcyde.

R&B: Jeremih – “773 Love”
Chicago vocalist Jeremih delivers really good R&B record called “773 Love” that was initially featured on his “Late Nights” mixtape. Producer Mike Will Made It provides the appropriate soundscape for the Chi-town area code “773” themed track. The vibe at times reminds me of some past records Atlanta based artist The-Dream may have done, but either way it’s still a pretty solid & seductive R&B record. Jeremih needs to shoot a video for this joint like asap. We recommend Rosa Acosta as perfect choice for a female lead…
R&B: The-Dream feat. Pusha T – “Dope Chick”
When I heard the original version of this song when it was titled “Dope Bitch” I knew Atlanta R&B singer & songwriter The-Dream would have to go back & record a clean radio version of what is otherwise a really good song. Eventually the “Dope Chick” version followed to appease radio programmers who had their hands tied in supporting the song. When the original video of this song came out once again I imagined The-Dream going back to revamp the video because there was no way in hell television stations & media outlets like FUSE, BET, or MTV would play it due to the very strong drug images. Finally today we see Mr. Terius Nash aka The-Dream release a much cleaner version of his video for “Dope Chick” with less cocaine references & strong imagery. If anyone struggling with drug addiction saw the original video I’m positive they may have relapsed already. At least with this version we can just get high off the music. Maybe this was all a part of The-Dream’s marketing plan from the beginning. The-Dream’s long-awaited ‘The Love IV MMXII’ album is due out September 20th….

R&B: Usher – “Dive” (Video)
New video for “Dive” off of Usher’s latest album “Looking 4 Myself” that’s out now. If Usher wasn’t busy winning custody of his kids from his ex-wife Tameka Raymond he probably could have cross promoted this single more during the Olympics. Usher may still be looking for himself, but at least he won’t have to worry about looking for his kids.

Alternative/Hip Hop: Jonathan Lee – “Yellow Brick Road” (EP)
All Jonathan Lee asked of us is an honest listen. We did and were rewarded. The producer-artist from Victoria, British Columbia (Canada), has the gift and puts it down on his EP “Yellow Brick Road.” Sounds good. Electro Hip-Hop pop that gives off a Kid Cudi vibe at times. For an independent producer with good work & able to secure features from the likes of YMCMB’s ‘Shanell,’ Pharrell & Diplo’s favorite band ‘Mansions On The Moon,’ (Their one of Jayforce’s favs too), N.E.R.D.’s ‘Christian Rich’ and Timbaland’s artist ‘SoShy’ he’s off to a great start! Sounds dope! Check it out and enjoy!

Technology: Science That ‘Plays Your Brain Like a Videotape’
Okay. Technology is REALLY taking the ‘fiction’ out of science fiction. Let Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg, an associate editor at The Atlantic, ‘drop some science’ on you:
Last year, scientists at the University of California Berkeley demonstrated that they could reconstruct the YouTube videos their research subjects were watching by analyzing fMRI scans of their brain activity. The video above is a shot-by-shot comparison between the video presented to the subjects and the video reconstructed by scientists brain scans. See how close the scientist got to what subjects saw…just by scanning their brain waves? Now, the episode write-up (and its included links) go MUCH DEEPER into the science; but let me lift another passage that will cut to the chase:
In a word: WOW!
Common – “No Sell Out” (Prod. By NO I.D.) [Unreleased]
Dope Chi-town producer & Def Jam executive NO I.D., put this previously unreleased song he recorded with Common up on the web recently. I’m sure this is just one of many ‘Lost Songs’ by Common that may see the light of day eventually. Real hip hop heads may recall this is the same sample used by Main Source for the opening song ‘Snake Eyes’ off of their 1991 classic album ‘Breaking Atoms’.
COMMON – NO SELL OUT (PROD. BY NO I.D.)[UNRELEASED]
Styles P – “The Diamond Life Project” (Mixtape)
New mixtape from Styles P (of LOX) called “The Diamond Life Project.” The mixtape features production from the likes of Lex Luger and The Beat Bully; and guest emceeing from the likes of Jadakiss, French Montana, Bun B, and Pusha T.
Inspectah Deck To Montreality: “I’m The Last True Black” (Video)
In this video, Inspectah Deck (of Wu-Tang Clan) sat down with Canada’s Urban Authority, Montreality, to talk about being a smart, but troublesome, schoolkid; going to high school with Method Man, Ghostface, Raekwon, and U-God; how he spent his first big check; his only tattoo; being the last true black; and more.
Mannie Fresh Speaks On Working With Kanye West, Lil Wayne, & Diversity In Hip Hop (Video)
‘Whilst in New Orleans for Essence Festival 2012, SoulCulture TV sat down with DJ and prolific former-Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh at the House of Blues to discuss his hometown, commercial Hip-Hop’s need to diversify, his thoughts on the Southern scene, what it’s been like working with Kanye West and the crew on “Cruel Summer,” and Lil Wayne’s work ethic. He had a lot to say.’
Top High School Basketball Prospect Collapses After Judge Gives Him 3 Years In Prison (Video)
Very, very sad situation all around. Tony Farmer, Garfield Heights High School basketball star, collapsed in court upon hearing Judge Pamela Barker pronounce sentencing that will take from him every opportunity afforded him by his on-court talent due to his violent acts off-court. His liberty and future at stake, Farmer’s assault victim and ex-girlfriend (Andrea Lane) was among those who pleaded that the judge not send him to jail; rather, that he be sent for help and counseling. We won’t retry the case in any way in this post. That is being done enough elsewhere. What is done is done. While it probably will not be headline news, Farmer will likely petition for early release after serving 180 days. Whether he should be released after 180 days, is a matter we will leave for you to debate. What we are most interested in is whether Farmer will be made to go to counseling once he is released. That much we KNOW he needs; as even he seemed surprised that his crime warranted a three-year sentence. Farmer must know (or learn) that his actions were inexcusable; whether he is down for 6 months or 36 months.
