Waka Flocka Flame Poses Nude For PETA (Photo)

When I heard in the news that Waka Flocka Flame was posing nude for PETA I thought it was a joke. Turns out it wasn’t…SMDH. I can’t get too mad at Waka Flocka because he’s still young. I’d like to see people advocate saving the lives of young black men dying in these streets before saving the animals. Just my opinion. Photo under the hood….

Jalen Rose Says He Hated Duke Because They Only Recruited ‘Uncle Toms’ (Video)

I only have one black friend who is a Duke basketball fan…..I think most black athletes feel the same way about Duke as well. I’m just saying. It’s nothing I’ve never heard said before amongst fans of college basketball.

Jhene Aiko – ‘Hoe’ featuring Miguel

While conversing with a few female friends of mine from Japan on twitter we somehow got to discussing this Jhene Aiko song featuring Miguel called ‘Hoe’. This is a pretty dope song that actually dropped on the web sometime late last month & I just never got around to posting it on the blog. It features Gucci Mane for a verse so subconsciously I may have put it on the backburner for that reason. Gucci seems out of the place on the song, although overall it’s still good to listen to. Later I may have to edit a “no Gucci’ version to further my own personal listening enjoyment. Jhene Aiko has an upcoming project dropping on March 16th called ‘Sailing Soul(s)’ which is I believe is the first project from the blasian singer. I had posted a trailer sometime last month about it as well so if you missed it you can check out under the hood along with additional work from the artist…..

Nitty Scott, MC – ‘Work’ (Grustlin’) [J. Period Remix]

I’ve been hearing & seeing Nitty Scott, MC’s name come up more than a few times in the past few months & she just keeps popping up everywhere. 20 year old Nitty Scott reminds me of a young spanish version of Lauryn Hill. I don’t know if she’ll ever reach those heights but she definitely has the raw talent to get there if she wants to. The Michigan born, Florida raised & now Brooklyn resident went in on this J.Period freestyle/remix of MC Lyte’s classic ‘Cha Cha Cha’. There aren’t too many females in the mainstream that could have ripped it like this. I have my eye on Nitty Scott, MC….looking for more greatness.

Chris Webber Speaks On The Miami Heat’s Woes (Video)

Chris Webber provided the best breakdown of the Miami Heat’s situation than anyone I’ve seen. Especially when Chris Webber talks about the bandwagoners who are on it when you do win. .

Wiz Khalifa – ‘The Race’

This is a standout track from Wiz Khalifa’s upcoming album ‘Rolling Papers’ which is due March 29th. Wiz Khalifa has been catching plenty of flack from a few folks lately because they may remember a time when his style was much more lyrical. These days Wiz employs alot more melody when he delivers his verses. Personally I feel what he’s doing is perfectly fine if this is what’s in his heart with the music. As long as the music sounds good I could care less. I still think some of his more commercial songs like ‘Black & Yellow’ have been some really good records in my opinion. I’m also happy to see an artist from Pittsburgh get some shine after years of talented artists getting overlooked in that city. I really like this song right here & if I didn’t I wouldn’t have posted it. As long as Wiz Khalifa avoids fake Ghostface commentaries then the kid will be alright. In case you don’t know what happened there’s more on that after the jump…….

The 2011 XXL Magazine Freshmen Roundtable Discussion (Video)

It’s easy for me to understand what the staff at XXL magazine have been doing recently with their freshman covers as of late. I said this a while ago on my twitter page that in making their choices for their annual freshmen cover they are choosing newcomers in the game with their own particular fanbase. I equally applaud XXL magazine for fully taking advantage with these video freestyles & new roundtable discussions. Many of these young guys make some great points about what they need to do from here on out & also rehash a few funny stories.

DJ Premier Vs. Pete Rock In Japan (Video)

This is an over 2 hour video of the DJ Premier Vs. Pete Rock show that took place in Japan last year. Primo & The Soul Brother have a collective album due to drop sometime this year as well. Sit back & enjoy

New Music: Kojoe – ‘May Day’

Japanese hip hop artist Kojoe drops this new joint called ‘May Day’ which is the first single from the upcoming ‘Mixed Identities 1.5’ mixtape due this year.  The project continues with the ‘Mixed Identities’ concept which is relative to Kojoe’s upbringing as a native Japanese Hip Hop artist who has also spent time in Queens & was at one time signed to Rawkus Records.  The original concept is also evident in his decision to continue to rhyme in both Japanese & English & yet & still sound cohesive for hip hop fans from the ‘Far East Coast’ to the East Coast of the U.S. to still fully vibe with it.  The track was produced by J. Cardim who’s done work with Joe Budden, Lil Wayne, Little Brother, Akon, Ludacris, Saigon, & many other notables in the rap game stateside. I also reposted one of my favorite joints from Kojoe called ‘Paper’ as a bonus track as well.  Make sure you check out his website IAMKOJOE.COM & peep the tracks….

Robot Koch & John Robinson – ‘Smorgasbord’ (Video)

Shout out to the big homie John Robinson doing the damn thing with the upcoming project ‘ROBOT ROBINSON’ due April 12th. Robot Robinson is a collaboration project with International Electronic producer Robot Koch and world renown emcee/entrepreneur John Robinson. John Robinson spent some significant time down in Atlanta as part of the its underground hip hop scene & its great to see the brother still branching out with new ideas, concepts, & collaborations. The April 12th release date also takes on a special meaning for John because that’s also his birthday also symbolic to the fact he’s giving birth to something new. The project will have a space funk type of vibe with John Robinson emceeing in a variety styles coupled with Robot Koch’s production. This forthcoming album is not only very different from what John Robinson’s early fans may expect, but it is an experimental yet progressive project of where hip hop and electronic music could win collectively.

H.I.S.D. “Rockin” aka “Space Up” Video (Live)

These guys have been in my playlist for a few years now. Group of Mc’s from Houston, Tx. Their first two projects “The District” and “Summer Sessions” are in credible pieces of work. The producers King Coz are the most slept on in music in my opinion. A lot of hip hop notables like Questlove and Bun B have given them the nod. There is a lot of material out there from these guys at Peace Uv Mine Entertainment so check em out!

Kooley High – “All Day” (Video)
